Chapter 46

**Angela’s POV**

I grabbed hold of a plastic bag and breathed into it. I can’t believe I was hyperventilating! I gradually grew calmer, I discarded the bag and leaned against the wall. My eyes closed and my mind tried to ease itself.

I had truly gotten myself into a mess. I was sleeping with my husband and his last mistress is in my house, not to mention he kissed me in front of her. I should be happy, right? He basically told her we were together so why did I feel like the new chew toy.

When we ended things is that what I had to look forward to? Him being with other women in my presence as if I didn’t exist? But did he even know she was here?

My eyes shook open as the door to my sanctuary softly clicked open. I leaned off the wall and fortified my expression and posture. My attempt almost faltered when Rose came into view.

“Can I get you something?” I laced my voice with sincerity I really didn’t feel.

Rose stared at me callously, her gaze traveling my body in disgust.

“You think you have won, but I can guarantee—“ She began, her voice dripping with malice.

“Won? What are blabbing about now?” I questioned exasperatedly.

“Brad will never be yours. He has been known to stray but in the end, he always comes back to me.” She replied proudly.

“Stray? I am his wife.” I spoke the words through clenched teeth.

“And he has shown you want it means, but he will tire of you. You’re just a new toy to him until you can no longer interest him he will come back to me.” She was so confident and even I began to believe her.

Would Rose be laughing at me one day after Brad chose to go back to her? Was he truly just using me for entertainment?

“If so, you should have no reason to be so vicious, if he really wants you...”

“He does!” She bordered on hysteria and the wild glimmer in her eyes put me on edge.

“Then he will be yours. It’s as simple as that. Now if you’ll excuse me.” I began nudging my way around her.

She stepped in front of me and I inwardly growled in frustration. “What is it now?” I snarled.

“Leave him, Angela. Let him come back to me.” She commanded and I hoped the earth would gape open and take her down into an abyss. I had never fought for a guy and I wasn’t about to start now. Brad wasn’t mine.

“If he truly wants you Rose then as you said before, he will tire of me and come back to you. Now I really need to go.” I tried to move past her again when I felt a fire laced sting across my cheek.

My hand reached up to clutch the throbbing area. Did she just slap me? What the hell!

My emotions were mixed but somehow I was more shocked. I stared at her. Getting her back would be easy but I couldn’t do anything. The friendship we shared all those years ago preventing me from taking action. In some ways, she was also wronged by Brad, even though it was her decision to be with him despite our marriage.

Don’t get me wrong. I was still furious. How can our friendship mean so little to her? It wasn’t as if she loved Brad, she was in a steady relationship with someone else. This was getting too complicated for me. To hazardous.

I was about to lash out at her verbally when the door swung open again. Brad appeared before us and I grew angrier. Not at him or at Rose but at myself. If they wanted each other then hell, they can have that. I was not about to be the woman in the middle.

Brad stared at the scene until his eyes settled on me. I averted my gaze and moved once more to the door. He grabbed my hand and I wrenched it away from him. He glared at me angrily.

“Where are you going?” His voice low and ice-cold accentuating the stoniness in his eyes.

I glared back with equal intensity, “I am leaving you two to your devices.” I spat and began to walk out. He grabbed hold of the arm that kept my palm pressed to the assaulted area of my face. I spun around to face him.

“Don’t be absurd, Angela. What else do I have to do to make you understand th--?”

“I understand completely!” I clenched my jaw.

He held on to me tighter. “I don’t think you do.” He cocked his head to the side and I saw his angry mouth, his eyes all but flashed red and his breathing became shallow. He released me and stalked purposely in Rose’s direction.

“Did.You.Hit.Her?” his voice was deadly and Rose stiffened at his coldness. He grabbed her by the arm and walked her to a door in the kitchen that led outside of the house. Before he opened the door he looked at her.

“You will leave my house and never come back. I don’t appreciate you disrespecting my marriage Rose...” he barked

“Brad...” I tried to calm him. He was being rash.

He turned his gaze to me. “Damn it, Angela, keep your mouth shut!”

He turned to her once more. “I don’t want you, Rose, it’s time you understand that.” He pulled open the door and pushed her outside closing the door before she could do anything else.

Brad was beside me in an instant. He turned my cheek up to the light and studied it. Feeling the anger surging I fought out of his grasp.

“Just stop.” I mouthed and he had the audacity to regard me as if I was insane.

“You’re angry with me?” he questioned in a disbelieving tone.

“I am, Rose—“

“I had no idea she was here.” He defended. I swallowed.

“I think we should end this.” I offered, my voice firm but my heart was breaking.

“What?” he growled.

“It’s obvious that—”

“Nothing.” His voice filled the room. “Is obvious. Apparently, your brain is all fucked up!”

“What?” I was horrified.

“This is not ending Angela, contrary to what you think.” He grabbed my hand and forced me against him. His eyes so close to mine that I felt the heat of his stare burning a hole into the entrance of my soul.

“You have too much baggage. I can’t live like this. Rose wanting my neck for being with you. You discarding me when I am no longer interesting.”

“Who said I was discarding you? This is what you do Angela, you assume and your assumptions annoy me. You don’t know my intentions Angela, don’t pretend that you do.” His voice was low and dangerous.

“As if your intentions are good! All you wanted was to bed me and you have. How much longer until you decide I can’t please you anymore?” I half yelled at him.

“That’s your opinion?” He searched my eyes. “That all I wanted was to fuck you? Everything else was just my means of getting that?” His grip tightened on me and I yelped. Noticing his hold had grown too much for my brittle bones he loosened his hands.

He turned away from me and ran his fingers through his hair. “I don’t want her Angela. I don’t want anyone but you.”

His words brought the hot sting of tears to my eyes but I couldn’t believe him. “I will retire for the night, you tell everyone that I had gotten sick or something. In the meantime, I will clear as much as I can from your room.”

I pushed past him and was inches away from the door. “This isn’t over Angela.” Those were the last words I heard before I made my escape.
