Chapter 78
Cesar
“Have you managed to get in touch with the manager from The Valle?” I asked while reading some reports.
“We haven’t been able to contact the manager, but we saw one of our employees dealing with them.” I raised my eyes from the papers to give him a confused look.
“What do you mean by an employee of the company? I haven’t sent anyone yet.”
“There was that woman... the companion lady who was with him every day,” he said with amusement.
“What woman?” I asked, standing up from behind my desk.
“W-well… I mean, the young lady who accompanied him some days, his assistant…” I grabbed his shirt firmly and let go.
“Belle… that’s her name. Neither a companion lady nor a floozy. Next time you refer to her, do it properly.”
“Y-y-yes, sir, forgive me for the offense. I thought that woman wasn’t important to you.”
“Maybe you aren’t that indispensable to this company.” He quickly shook his head, and I let go.
“Now speak. Where did you see Belle?”
“She was at a restaurant with the manager. It looked like they arranged a meeting to discuss the company.” I released his shirt abruptly, grabbed my jacket, took my car keys, and stormed out of my office straight to that restaurant.

Belle
“Yes, I’m someone indispensable in that crappy company. Without me, they can’t do anything.”
“Really? Tell me more.” I said, patting his shoulder.
“I was the one who secured the F.F. contract for that damn greedy boss of mine, and the rat didn’t even give me a raise.”
“That must be very disappointing, not earning anything from that contract.” He cleared his throat, and I quickly handed him a glass of wine.
“I’m sure you’re smarter than your boss. Surely you’ve gained something juicy from that deal.”
“Of course, I’m smart. So much so that the idiots at F.F. haven’t even noticed.”
“Really? I knew someone like you could only be a man who hates losing. Don’t be shy, tell me something fun…” I teased, sliding my nail across his chest. He took my hand and kissed it, making me feel disgusted.
“I made a little deal with a fruit producer using cheap labor, and I charge F.F. double, telling them it’s a high-quality company. Povedilla is in on it… in fact, that pig takes most of the money even though the idea was mine. I kept quiet because it’s a good source of income.” Shocked, I stepped back, unable to believe it.
“Povedilla…? Isn’t he one of the people at the F.F. meeting? He’s the one who called me a little girl. That man is embezzling money… I have to inform Mr. Cesar.”
“Yes… that’s him. Wait, what did you say?” I laughed stupidly and replied.
“Nothing, darling… I’ll just go to the bathroom for a moment.”
“What? You think I’m stupid? You’re not leaving,” he said, grabbing my arm. Nervously, I tried to pull away.
“But what are you talking about? I’ll be right back,” I insisted, attempting to free myself from his grip.
“I already told you no, you damned bitch. Now stay here and do your job. Do you think I’m a fool?” he yelled angrily, slamming the table hard, leaving me pale as paper. Just as he was about to hit me, someone pulled me away.
“Didn’t you hear me say to let her go?” Suddenly, a punch landed, sending him to the floor. When I turned, I saw Mr. Cesar with a furious expression on his face.
