Chapter 13.
**(Freya's POV)**
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked Ash as he continued to stare at me with his deep eyes. It made me feel very uncomfortable when he kept looking at me.
"Is it really you or someone else?" asked Ash with a furrowed brow.
"What do you mean?"
"Four years have passed and you've changed completely. You're not the Freya I used to know," he said. He showed his annoyance and anger at my attitude, but I didn't care. My current attitude wasn't even worse than what he had done in the past.
And I still remember it clearly in my memory. How his tone of voice, the expression on his face, when he betrayed me, telling me to abort the baby inside my stomach. Not even a hint of pity in his eyes. Hurting my heart repeatedly without regret or apology.
Other people might have acted more evil than I did, but I'm not a human like them who has evil instincts. I still had a heart, even though I was an alien.
"Time is running out, Ash. We have to change ourselves. We can't be stupid all the time. Don't you think so?" I said in a cold tone.
"Stupid?"
"Yes, I used to be too stupid to be a woman. And now I'm developing into someone great," I said.
I saw Ash's facial expression change. As if he didn't accept every single thing I said.
"Do you like who you are now? You've changed, Freya."
I snorted. "Enough," I snapped, "you'd better not bring up the past again, because you don't like it. If you came here for business, then only talk about business and nothing else. Do you understand?"
Ash was silent, but I could tell he was upset with my words and attitude. Then I invited him to my room because we couldn't possibly talk about work issues in the lobby. So, we sat on the sofa in my office.
We sat facing each other. Feeling a little uncomfortable as Ash kept looking at me relentlessly. It was as if he was trying to penetrate my head to find out what I was thinking at the moment.
"Are you going to keep looking at me like that and not hand over the proposal you've prepared? Or did you just come here to waste my time?" I said in a cold tone. I was being deliberately harsh so Ash would understand that I wasn't the Freya he used to be able to hurt at will.
Because to be honest, I feel uneasy whenever I'm around Ash. I was afraid that something bad would happen to me, especially Sia and Gia. I didn't want them to get hurt.
"You don't have to be so rude."
"I'm just doing my job. This is how I work, so I hope you understand and can accept it!" I insisted.
He just glanced at me sharply, then he took something out of her bag. It was the proposal he had prepared.
"I made it a while ago, you can check it," he said as he handed me the proposal.
I checked it. And felt something was missing.
"It's good, but not enough. So, I can't accept this proposal and work with you," I replied while throwing the proposal on the table.
I saw Ash's face turn annoyed and angry at my rejection.
"What did you say?"
"I'm saying that I don't like the proposal you gave me. And I'm not going to give your company a working agreement."
"What's wrong? What's not enough?!" he shouted in disgust. "Are you doing this on purpose just to humiliate me? To get revenge for what happened in the past?!"
"This has nothing to do with the past," I insisted.
"Then why did you reject it!"
"Because your proposal is no good."
"Hey, Freya. Can't you put your feelings aside? You're the one who said let's talk about business and nothing else, but you're the one who mixed business with feelings."
"I never do that!" I snapped in annoyance.
"Yes, you did!"
I stood up in annoyance. With both hands on my waist. "Ash, it looks like you'd rather cancel this meeting, right?"
"What?!"
"I already told you that your proposal is no good! Why do you keep cornering me by saying that I'm using my feelings? Do you think I'm still thinking about the past? Don't be ridiculous!" I shouted angrily. "If it wasn't for our meeting that night, I wouldn't even remember you anymore!"
Ash stood up. Staring at me sharply.
"I know and I'm sure my proposal is good enough."
"That's what you think," I said quickly, "that's why you never improve. Because you can't take criticism."
"Freya, behave yourself. Don't cross the line."
"Yes, I am. You're the one who came here to get a partnership with me, but with a proposal that can't even get me interested, don't expect me to sign our partnership agreement!" I exclaimed to him.
I saw Ash's hands clenched into fists holding back anger. His gaze didn't leave me and I looked back at him. I did that to show him that I wasn't afraid at all. Right now, my level is much higher than his.
"If you still want to continue this fight, you better get out of here. I don't have much time just to fight with someone who even has a spiteful heart," I said.
"Is there no chance at all?" he asked.
"No," I insisted, "come here again when you're sure you've prepared a good proposal. Then I will graciously welcome you. As a businessman, you know that we can't make risky decisions. Otherwise, we will end up with losses instead of profits."
"Do you have to be this hard on me? Are you sure you're doing this because you're acting as a businessman or are you just getting carried away?" asked Ash. He squinted sharply at me.
"Don't worry. I told you I'm not interested in reliving the past. It's not even something beautiful to remember, so why do i keep memories that don't matter at all," I said, I turned my face away, then looked at Ash again. "Go away," I said, shooing him away.
Ash looked angry and didn't accept what I said. He went out with the resentment he was holding in as loudly as he could. Out with a very loud slam of the door.
In my room, I breathed a sigh of relief because I had managed to get my revenge on him. Although this was just a small revenge, I was satisfied. The pain Ash had given me, I vowed to repay one after another with the same pain.
Just then, someone knocked on my study door.
"Come in!" I ordered.
"Miss Freya, there's someone here to see you," she informed me.
"Who? Is Ash back again?"
"No, Miss. A woman. She said you know her very well."
