Chapter 11

"Who are we? How could you forget me?" The man asked with obvious arrogance.

Ruby was lost in thought for a moment, she tried to observe the three men standing in front of her door and it was clear their faces were very familiar to her.

"You guys-"

"How are you, Ruby? Long time no see, how have you been?" Asked a brown-haired man with charming hazel eyes. Meanwhile another man just smiled sweetly.

"Pierre? Jacob? You guys-"

"It turns out you still remember us, right?"

"Of course! How could I forget you two!" She said enthusiastically after she realized that the two men who looked very friendly were Pierre and Jacob, her two friends besides Leo.

"You remember them but you don't remember me? Tch, you're really going too far, aren't you?"

"What's the use of me remembering an annoying guy like you?" She said sarcastically. She already recognized who this annoying man standing in front of her arrogantly was.

"You're still arrogant, aren't you?"

"What do you need for coming so early?" She asked. She started to notice them wearing sports clothes as if they had just come home from the gym or something.

"We just finished the gym and stopped here. Sorry for not telling you earlier!" Jacob said politely.

Ruby just nodded slowly, no wonder she smelled the strong scent of men's perfume.

"Even when you go to the gym, you guys still stick together, huh? Have you guys stayed like this all this time?"

"According to you?" Henry asked. Pierre suddenly laughed for no reason as he took a sip of water from the water bottle.

"So, you just woke up?" Henry asked.

"Yeah, do you mind?"

"Tch, damn. You're still acting great, aren't you?" Henry said annoyed. He really hated Ruby's dominant attitude, who was never afraid to talk to anyone.

"Aren't you the one who suddenly came to someone else's house and acted arrogantly? Why are you angry with me?"

"Why are you suddenly back here? What do you really want?" Asked Henry, who didn't want to be less dominant. His high self-esteem makes him want to control a stubborn woman like Ruby.

"How did you guys know I was here?"

"From my mom, she said you came back to this house yesterday and coincidentally last night I just arrived at my parents' house. We're sorry if you feel disturbed." Pierre said.

"I understand, I was just surprised because suddenly the three of you came and-"

"What do you want to come back to this city for?" Henry immediately cut off Ruby's words and returned to dominating the conversation.

"What do I want? I-I just want to see my hometown again. Is that wrong?" She said confusedly. Ruby knew that wasn't the main reason for coming back to this place. She wanted to meet them again, especially Leo, who she missed so much.

Ruby was silent and looked down sadly, those who saw her were surprised because this was the first time she showed a sad face like this as if she felt helpless about something they didn't know about.

Pierre sighed, since earlier he had been alone and listened to them arguing. He knew things had changed, it was impossible for them to treat her like before. They have known each other for a long time and have gone through ups and downs together. A friendship that can be said to last a lifetime. But on the way, one of them just left without saying goodbye.

"How is your mom?" Pierre asked.

"My mom is fine."

"Oh Thank God."

The atmosphere became quiet again for a while and it made this quiet house feel even quieter. The three men's heads were filled with questions about why Ruby had left without saying anything to them as if they were not part of her life. But the question only came to mind and was difficult to say.

"Can I ask something? I just want to make sure!" Henry said.

"What's that?"

"Actually, who was I to you?" He asked. Ruby was surprised to hear Henry's question. It feels very awkward if you are suddenly asked that because the answer is already certain.

Ruby's face turned red, she was very anxious now. They looked at her as if waiting for her answer. If you remember the relationship between her and Henry, they never got along, while with Pierre and Jacob, They was so close. She felt it was a little different from what it should be. They are very close, seeing each other every day almost since elementary school. At school they were always in the same class, their houses were close together. Rather than friends, they were like brothers.

"Why don't you answer?" Henry asked.

"O-of course you used to be very annoying people to me." She said forcefully. She didn't know why she couldn't say something sweet to Henry.

They were stunned to hear the answer, especially Henry after she easily said that Henry was nothing more than an annoying person. How could she possibly say that after they met again as adults?

Seeing Henry's reaction of shock and disappointment, Ruby immediately lowered her head. Her whole body was shaking, she felt very sorry because she had said something unnecessary.

"You haven't changed at all, have you? Well, I think there's no longer any reason for me to stay here. At least I know enough that you're still alive. I'll go now!" Said Henry as he got up and left his place with an annoyed face that was very easy to read.

In contrast to Henry, who was very easy to show the emotions he was feeling, Pierre and Jacob looked calm because they were sure that the relationship between them and Ruby was fine even though Ruby didn't tell them about her move to Alberta 10 years ago.

Pierre just smiled, while Jacob just shook his head and touched his forehead as if they didn't want to get involved in the eternal enmity between Ruby and Henry.
