Chapter 19

"Damn, she's late! Is he actually coming or not?" Henry cursed irritably. He acted as if he had arrived on time.

Jacob just smiled, while Pierre shook his head slowly. He didn't know why Henry could be so excited when it was clear that he thought this dinner was just nonsense.

"He came to the restaurant in a taxi, I think we should have picked her up earlier!"

"You're right! I'll try to contact her!"

"Hi, sorry I'm late!" Before Pierre could contact her, Ruby approached them in a hurry as if she was being chased by something.

Ruby smiled awkwardly, trying to straighten her slightly wrinkled mini dress and her loose hair. They were amazed, judging from her appearance, it was clear that she was trying hard to look beautiful tonight.

"It's okay! Please sit down!" Jacob said as he pulled out a chair and invited Ruby to sit down like a very polite noble man.

"Thank You!"

"Who are you dressing up for, huh?" Henry said irritably, his eyes barely blinking.

This was the main reason why she refused to have dinner with them. All this because Henry would definitely continue to hurl insults at her. For her, Henry was really annoying.

Ruby took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. Sge was actually quite happy when he found out he would be having dinner at this restaurant. Because that means he can eat luxuriously without having to spend money. But the reward he received was the hatred that Henry gave her.

"Can you stop talking to me? I came here because Pierre invited me. If it wasn't because I respected him, I wouldn't have come, let alone have to see your disgusting face!"

"Hahaha...I came here because Pierre invited me, blah blah blah! Hey, you think I'm stupid? You came here for free food-"

Ruby's hand movement reflexively punched Henry's face who was sitting in front of her.

"Damn it! Why did you punch me...?" Henry immediately touched his nose, which was sore from Ruby's famously strong blow.

"You really have to be beaten, then you can shut up!"

"Hey you two, never mind! Why are you always fighting? Come on, people are watching us!" Pierre tried to break up the childish argument between two 27 year old adults, but they still fought like elementary school students.

Henry and Ruby withdrew, pretending to act as if there was no commotion they were making. Meanwhile, Jacob doesn't seem to know how to make his two friends get along. Although when she thought about it, Henry and Ruby had often fought and Henry had definitely been the one who got beaten up. Never mind his status as the son of a very rich businessman.

"Oh my gosh! How exciting, huh? It's like going back in time!" Pierre burst into laughter when he saw the behavior of his two friends who had never gotten along from the start. He's the only one who finds Henry and Ruby's bickering really fun.

"This isn't fun at all, you idiot!" Henry said while taking a sip of the wine in his glass.

"Who said that? This is exciting! Yes, if you think about it, it's been 10 years since we gathered with complete members like this, right?"

"I prefer just the four of us! There's no need for anyone else!" Henry deliberately said that to offend Lila. But Ruby didn't seem to care, she was busy devouring the food on her plate as if she hadn't eaten for two days.

"So, why do you two always go out together? Where are your girlfriends?" Ruby asked opening a frontal question which made them a little surprised. It's strange if you pay attention because they almost always hang out together without a boyfriend or partner.

"What do you care?" Henry cursed irritably. It seemed like whatever Lila said he would always respond sarcastically.

"I don't care. But I'm just curious, why don't you invite your girlfriends to dinner too? There's no way you don't have girlfriends, right?"

"Whether you have a boyfriend or not is absolutely none of your business! If we invite our boyfriends, who will you invite?" Henry's question made Lila even more annoyed. He stopped eating and put his knife and fork on the plate.

"Are you guys busy after this?"

"Why? You want to go somewhere?" Jacob asked.

"How about we have a drink at the club?"

"Huh? What did you say? Drinking at the club?

The drinking that Ruby meant was drinking beer in a nightclub, which you could say was not a place where they usually gathered. She looked very excited, but to be honest, she was holding back her annoyance at Henry's stupid and childish attitudes and remarks that he kept throwing at her.

"Hey, let's drink! Why are you guys so quiet? Don't tell me you don't like beer?" Ruby was busy pouring beer into glasses on the table.

The flashing lights, DJ music filling the room and couples busy dancing made them a little uncomfortable, except for Pierre who looked quite used to nightclubs and half-naked women dancing on poles.

Henry, Jacob and Pierre looked at each other. Jacob is clearly not very comfortable, as he is a father to a four-year-old daughter. He is also a kind doctor and always keeps himself away from the nightlife.

"Why did you invite us here?" Henry asked. He felt stupid for letting Lila bring them to this place.

"Why? You don't like it? I just want to have fun with you? Don't men often come to nightclubs to drink and flirt with sexy women when they're together?" Lila downed the beer in her glass and continued to fill it every time it was almost empty.

She drank quite a lot and they thought that Ruby was strong enough to drink alcohol.
