Book Two: Bloodshed-Chapter One-

10 years later

Taliah’s POV

Everyone had their own opinions of my uncle Leo. He was the Dark One, The King of Darkness, The Punished Prince. To me he was Uncle Leo. Even though I hadn’t seen him since him and my mother sent us to the void. I was totally infatuated with stories about him. To me it seemed he made a noble sacrifice, to others that didn’t know him, he had a lust for power that tore the world apart. He eradicated the Hunter Legion and got rid of the magic that was housed in supernatual vessels all around the world. My mother never got the chance to pull us from the void. Instead, it shattered since the magic that created it was made by Hella herself. Although he murdered the evil witch it left a whole in the world. He ascended to her throne but had no clue how to maintain the balance. It didn’t take long for the entire world to fall into chaos.

I was six years old when we were pulled from the void. The world had quickly turned to shit. When the veils broke, and the realms merged, we were all thrown into a fight between gods and goddess. My world was nothing like what my parents and grandparents grew up in. My mom told me a long-forgotten prophecy had been fulfilled and it fractured the world. Apparently killing a Goddess has consequences. After the war between the gods was over, humanity tried to pick up right where they left off. Dark blood thirsty creatures roamed the earth, and the moon was split in two. The packs began to fight amongst each other, and the humans were on a crusade to take us all out, Wolf, vamps, and witches alike.

I was pulled from my thoughts as I stared out into the planes of grass the covered the land, as I felt the blade fly by face hitting the tree I was sitting under.

“Taliah! always be aware of your surroundings. If you don’t take this seriously you will never survive your accession to Alphadom.” My mother called out.

I rolled my eyes at her rant before standing.

“You need to have finished your training before he comes to take you. You need to be ready.” She complained.

“And why would you let him take me in the first-place mom.” I questioned jogging in her direction.

“You need your mate now more than ever; you need to become stronger. Make no mistake Taliah the King of Darkness reigns over us all. We need everyone on board” She explained.

I walked to the hall with her, and we met up with my fathers, and my sister Gia and her mates. I made a face at my sister before I grabbed my cup a swallowed down what I thought was wine.

“The hell is this.” I said as my face turned sour at the taste.

“Dad brought out the good stuff to celebrate.” Gia said chuckling.

“You have found your mate, this is no small thing.” My father Ethar explained.

“He found me. I had no choice in the matter.” I retorted taking another huge sip.

“How did I get stuck with the weak Human mate!” I yelled as I felt the alcohol go to my head.

“Ok, okay. Slow down.” Father Iliam slurred, letting me know he had already had a few himself.

‘I like him. He is very handsome.’ My wolf Nyx said letting her approval be known.

“What kind of name is Anar anyway he even sounds weak.” I complained

“Calm down General Anar is a very charming young man.” My mother retorted.

“Plus, when you turn 18 you can just turn him if you want.” Iliam whispered and we both giggled. It was a good idea.

The humans hated supernatural creatures, and I didn’t have love for their people either. What ever he wanted from me was no good, but my parents didn’t see it that way. My parents met Anar in battle, they held him captive for ten days, then one day I caught his scent. Nyx went wild in my head, and I made the mistake of telling Gia he was my mate.

Gia had two prestigious vampire captains of the Council of Vetni as her mates. She had two, the goddess couldn't have spared one of the brothers for little old me?

Gia and I grew up close, but quickly grew apart. We were different, she wanted to be a princess, and I wanted to be a warrior. She wanted nice clothes, and I wanted shinny weapons. Gia wanted our parents favor and love, while I rebelled. We shared a womb, but we were complete opposites. I learned to shift quickly without the hunter magic holding me back, for some reason Gia had yet to cross that milestone even though we were both sixteen. Even though I was the second born I was set to reach Alphadom first, but only because Gia declined the offer.

If you asked me, they should have just fulfilled the promise they made to Hella. I could have taken her place as goddess and none of this would’ve happened. I didn’t feel like I belonged in this family anyway. I wasn’t yet ready to start one of my own with a weak human mate. So, what would be the harm of me ruling over the souls in underworld?

“Still moping?” Father Iliam asked as he took a seat beside me near the river.

“I’m not moping dad. Just thinking.” I assured him as I snuggled closer to him.

I was close with both my fathers. Iliam was strict but soft hearted when it came to me and Gia. Ethar was a total drill sergeant, but his love and devotion for us was unmatched, all the other kids were afraid of him. Neither of them let a thing slide when it came to us.

“Two months. That is it, you will spend that time with your mate and then you will take you place as Alpha of Bloodmoon Pack. I can see it now, as strong and revered as Maud Alya herself.” He said smiling with pride as he envisioned it.

“Although I was not the first choice.” I said kicking the dirt softly with my feet.

“Neither was I Liah. I was never fated to be Alpha. It was my destiny, that destiny is yours now.” He explained. I had never thought of it that way, that was how it happened right. Iliam was Ethar’s beta in the beginning. It did make me feel better maybe I wasn’t a second choice, maybe everything happened how it was supposed to.

“I’m heading to bed. I want you inside soon ya hear.” He called out as he started off toward the pack house.

The mansion I lived in as a little girl had lost its renown during the wars. Not only had it sustained damage, but we had also taken in refugees from all over the world, so a lot of pack members were staying in the mansion as a communal home.

‘Mate!’ Nyx whined in my head. Her yearning for him was almost unbearable.

“I know Nyx calm down. You will see him soon enough.” I said aloud.

“You said like you don’t share her sentiment.” Anar’s voice came floating through the air in the distance. Why was he here I still had a few weeks left at Bloodmoon.

I stood up abruptly, and I was on alert.

“Whoa there its just me.” He said and his figure emerged from the trees.

“Why?” I growled.

“Why what?” he questioned a confused look on his face.

“Why are you here?” I said dropping my guard a little once I was sure he was alone.

“I wanted to see you. I haven’t stopped thinking about you since we met that day.” “I must say I wasn’t at my best then.” He said as rubbed the back of his neck and diverted his gaze in shame.

“No, you were half naked, and chained to the ceiling.” I teased and I resumed my sitting position.

He came and sat next to me, and I made a sour face.

“You reek of human blood.” I said covering my nose.

“Want some?” He said and my head snapped to him. He let out a huge laugh as he teased me back.

“You may hate me now Taliah, but I promise to make you love me. As long as it might take, I’ll show you I am worthy to be your mate.” He said. Nyx howled in approval and I couldn’t help the smile that crept up on my face.
