Chapter 17
Daniel's arms were stretched out, tied to a cross.
His body was covered in wounds of all sizes, which indicated that it had been quite some time since they had been inflicted.
Andrew embraced my shoulder from behind and smirked, "Won't you go in and check on your patient?"
My eyes felt like they had just been stabbed, bloodshot red.
In a low voice, I asked, "Did you know I would set him free?"
Andrew gave an evil smile, "You guessed right, there's a reward for you."
He signaled to the bodyguard beside him.
The bodyguard immediately picked up a bucket of water from the corner and poured it over Daniel.
With saltwater pouring onto his wounds, you can imagine how painful it was.
Daniel's sweat dripped down his face like it didn't cost a thing.
But he didn't even make a sound.
I exclaimed, "You're committing a crime!"
The man chuckled and pulled out his phone from his pocket, handing it to me.
"Yes, you can call the police. Let's see if I'll be caught and sent to prison."
I was about to take the phone when a weak male voice came from behind.
"Isabel, you make me sick."
I turned my head in shock to look at Daniel.
"What...did you say?"
His tone couldn't hide his disgust as he continued, "And you're pretending to be what?"
"If you didn't inform Andrew, how would he know I woke up and how would he have people waiting under the hospital?"
"Absolutely hypocritical, you're not worthy of being a doctor."
The feeling in my heart was indescribable.
At this point, I probably wouldn't even feel any pain if someone stabbed me.
Andrew laughed heartily on the side.
He leaned in to my ear and said, "Looks like the person you saved doesn't appreciate your feelings."
I ignored him, staring at Daniel, unblinking.
Muttering, "...I didn't."
But he had already turned away, as if he didn't want to see me.
Andrew looked at me with pity in his eyes, his tone full of mockery.
"Tsk tsk, how pitiful."
"I was just thinking about how to torture you, but it seems unnecessary now."
"What could be more devastating than being misunderstood and scolded by the person you love?"
He turned to the bodyguard and said, "Let her go, but don't forget to teach her what to say and what not to say."
