Chapter 18

It was late at night,
No one on the street.
I mechanically walked in one direction, not knowing where I was.
After who knows how long, I finally saw a taxi.
The driver rolled down the window, "Where to?"
I spoke out my home address.
Suddenly, I remembered something and changed my mind, "Maple Grove Hospital."
When I arrived at the hospital, I went straight to room 608.
Pushing the door open, the familiar scent of disinfectant filled the air.
Afraid of alerting the nurses on duty, I didn't dare to turn on the lights and instead used the faint light from my phone to search the room.
Under the bed, it was empty.
Sanitary
In the empty space of the room,
In the flower pot...
There it is!
I opened the top layer of soil and found a piece of paper inside.
It seems like it was just buried recently and hasn't decayed yet.
On it, it says: "Skyview Plaza 1002, 123096."
I sat on the bed, feeling drained.
Quietly waiting for the break of dawn.
...
Two hours ago.
After Daniel finished speaking, I stared at him in shock.
But he just turned away without looking at me.
Yet, his left hand, which was tied to the shelf, moved slightly.
The movement was so small that it was almost imperceptible unless you looked closely.
His thumb and pinky slightly raised.
"Six."
Then, he formed a circle with his fingers, hollow inside.
"Zero."
Finally, it was his index finger and thumb.
"Eight."
