After we finish at the Clinic I make a phone call. The person picks up after the second ring.

"Yes, Alpha Mason?"

"I want someone to keep an eye on Chloe Smith all day. I want all the information. If she leaves her place, inform me immediately.

"Yes, Alpha."The investigator answers back immediately and I know he is on his way to her place and keeps an eye on her. I hope she fulfills what we talked about, otherwise, I won't let her go easily. Dario drives slower than usual but I can't complain. So many unexpected things happened just in a short time. I can't even believe them if I didn't see them with my own eyes. I will be a father of a little boy and he makes my life full after many years of sadness and grief. Hopefully, he will seal the wound in my heart which I feel is still open after the pain I went through. They all said that I should move on already and not think about the past all the time but it is hard when everything reminds me of her.

Soon we arrived at the pack and I ordered an omega to clean the main guest room. She just answers Yes Alpha without any questions. How am I going to introduce her to the pack? It is so complicated. I can already imagine their faces when they know I slept with a human and she is carrying my child after just a night. Their future Alpha and who knows about his DNA when one of his parents is a werewolf and the other is a human? I need to start to gather the baby stuff as well. After dinner, I shower and head to bed. I toss and turn all night long and sleep avoids me. Around midnight a text message makes me quickly sit up in my bed. I rub the drowsiness from my eyes and focus on my phone screen.

"Ms. Smith arrived home safely. She cooked dinner and waited for her boyfriend Alex Johnson. They had a long sex session and only ate after that. They argued but had peaceful sex after that in the living room. They are sleeping now. That is all now, Alpha."I read the text message over and over if I might make a mistake in what I read but it's always the same. Ryder growls deep in my head and makes my head hurt. I need to hold him back before he takes over my body. He sounds like a jealous Alpha wolf but it doesn't make sense because we are not fated mates or chosen mates. Chloe agreed to not be intimate with anybody while she is carrying my child. It's not even a couple of hours gone and she broke her promises. I run my fingers through my hair because I am so angry with her. I search for her name in my contact list and hesitate before hitting the call button. Before it connects I hit the decline button. I do that a couple of times before I finally let the call go through. It rings but no answer before it connects to the voicemail. She doesn't decline but not picks up either. Maybe it is in mute mode or she is so tired and doesn't even hear it ring it. I toss the phone on my bed and anger rises inside me. Should I go there and check on her? I know I gave her 24 hours, but it feels too long. I don't want to push her so I let this go, but when I meet her again I will ask her about her promises. I stay awake for a while but soon sleep takes over and I fall into a deep sleep. I dream about our first night together and I decided that I want to feel her again even just one time but I want to remember every detail


I woke up in the morning still sleepy and tried to rub out the tiredness from my eyes. I hop under the cold shower and get some relief because I woke up with a hard-on. Her moans still ring in my head like it just happened yesterday. After I get dressed I ask an Omega to clean the biggest guest room. She doesn't ask why just answers of course. I head to the dining room where Dario is already waiting for me. His mouth and hands are full because he likes to fill his stomach. Luckily we are werewolves with good genes otherwise if he would be a human I am sure he would be a fat guy. The table is full of food. Bacon, toast, egg, cold buffet, and fruits.

"Morning, Alpha."He welcomes me with his mouth full. He chews so loudly but I am used to it.

"Morning, Dario."

"How are you feeling after yesterday?"He asks after he finally swallows the food down his throat. He takes a sip of his apple juice to flush the food.

"Actually I am happy but scared also. You know what happened. I still feel the pain inside. I will make sure she will be comfortable here until she leaves."I answer him while I make a sandwich for myself full of ham and cheese. I am hungry, and so many things I will have to arrange until Chloe arrives.

"I understand and I will be by your side. Chloe seems like a nice woman. Don't you think?"He asks with curiosity on his face and waits patiently for my answer.

"Yes. I think so."I answer back without showing any emotion on my face. I have other things in my mind about her than just nice.

"Good because maybe you should start a relationship with her. She is the mom of your baby. You don't want your baby to grow up without a mother in his life. Right?"He suddenly asks and it makes me swallow aside the food from my mouth. He laughs so loud and holds his stomach while laughing at me. He offers me a glass of orange juice and I accept it without hesitation. I take a couple of sips until it is down.

"A*sshole. You almost made me choke on my food. Don't do that again."I look at him with a warning in my eyes.

"Sorry, dude. I didn't see this coming. So what do you think about a relationship with Chloe?"I growl at him to remind him who is the Alpha here and respects me even though we are best friends. If my look can kill Dario will be under the ground six feet deep. I keep eye contact with him but he blinks first.

"Suddenly I remember I have something to do."He stands up quickly and leaves the room with fast steps. Remember your place and who is the Alpha, Dario. Don't mess up with me otherwise, I will give you some hard work. I can finish my breakfast peacefully and no one disturbs me.

The rest of the day flew by slowly. I made some phone calls about the nursery and they promised that a couple of weeks later everything will be here. My brain still thinks about what Dario suggested at breakfast. I do the pack paperwork and read the wishes of my pack members. I don't know why my wolf likes my Beta's idea about Chloe. He keeps quiet but also smiles at me. I am deep in my thoughts when a call comes to my cell phone. I look at the screen and roll my eyes. What now? I can't believe it. I answered almost immediately.

"Alpha, Mason."

"Yes. What can I do to you?"I answer and try to play it cool.
