GETTING OUT OF HERE

PRESENT DAY

Ivy walks inside her room and heads over to the closet, she opens it and brings out her suitcase. She starts throwing clothes in when the door opens revealing a nervous-looking Cole. Anyone in his position will be equally nervous, his wife just caught him with his lover and now she is packing her things.

"I-Ivy can we please t-talk?" Cole stutters as he watches her walk around the room to grab her stuff.

"Talk about what?" Ivy asks not stopping for a second if she stops her heart might shatter. "Your box is over there, pack your things as well." She continues throwing clothes in. "Our flight leaves tomorrow evening and we need to pack."

Cole goes from nervous to worried, she's not yelling or throwing stuff. He prefers the throwing of things than what's happening here, she's pretending like nothing ever happened. Although he wishes to back in time where he didn't have hurt her or her finding out the way she did.

"Ivy, please stop and talk to me." He rushes to block her way as she tries to get her shoes. "Please," He whispers.

Ivy pushed him out of the way which is not hard with the building rage in her, "This place is cursed. I am seeing things, feeling things that aren't possible. We just need to leave and everything will okay."

"I can do that, I want to do that." He grabs her arm making her halt. Ivy's lack of movement was enough to get tears to start welling up in her eyes.

She doesn't want to cry, everything will be alright.

"But I need you to realize that I kissed him. There's no girl in the gym, it's been, Casey." Cole says slowly to ensure proper understanding.

His words are enough to break her heart, now she's questioning her entire life. How could she have known? Is this why he is not attracted to her?

Like he predicted that she is asking mental questions, "You can ask me anything?" He mutters as he moves to her front, letting go of her arm. The first teardrop which Cole spots, his heart equally breaks because never in a million years would he want hurt her.

"Wow, that's so generous of you." Ivy rolls her eyes, cleaning her red cheeks. "Oh, were will I start?" Ivy takes a step away from him, she already knows the answers to her questions will tear her apart and she doesn't want to do anything that she will regret.

"Are you gay? Have our 14 years together been a joke to you?" Ivy barks.

He thought he has the right words but is there any right words at this moment? "I love you." That is one thing he has always been sure of.

Ivy let's out a low sadistic laugh, "That's not my question, you told me to ask questions and you can't give answers to them."

"Ivy" He mutters.

She stops to stare at the man who she had loved for all these years, who she was so sure would never hurt her and she can't recognize him.

No, it can't be. He is in there somewhere.

With one swift, she places her hands on his cheeks and draws him in for a kiss. Slow, soft yet Ivy was putting all of her in one kiss like it will change everything if she gets it right.

She lets go, staring right into his eye, and with one look at him, she can tell it is going to be their last kiss. "How was it?" Her voice breaks.

He wants to say the right words this time, he doesn't want to hurt her any further but the truth is the butterflies are gone. "N-nice."

"Nice?" Ivy scoffs as she rolls her eyes. "Is it nice when you kiss him?"

"It's d-different." He admits.

"Different?" Ivy laughs as tears roll down freely. "Different." She repeats.

"Ivy please," Cole mutters.

"Were we ever real? Or am I just a coverup?" She dreads the answer to this question but she has to ask.

Cole proceeds to take her hands, although She was hesitant at first she lets his warm hands wrap around hers. "What we had was real, that's one thing I am sure of."

Is that supposed to make her feel better? She doesn't feel any better, all she can hear from the statement was the word "was".

Past tense.

She struggles out of his grasp and he lets her go, "I have another question," Ivy looks him in the eye, "How long have you guys been seeing each other? How long have I been a fool? Is it just this vacation?" Ivy continues.

If it's just this vacation, she can understand. He wanted to explore, she explored, not with the same sex but she had her fun as well. She can accept his means of exploration given the fact it's over.

"Remember earlier this year I told you about the company that I was creating an app for?" He starts.

"Yeah," Ivy drags the word.

"It was Casey's company."

Ivy pauses, "So you have been cheating on me?" She raises her voice.

"N-no, we hung out a few times, I am telling the truth."

"Well, I don't believe you," Ivy says honestly. It hurts to think she thought she was the problem and she tried to make it work.

"I swear if anything happened it only started when you agreed to this open marriage," Cole says honestly.

"Is it over?" Ivy asks the pressing question.

"What?"

"Was that a goodbye kiss?" The most pressing question. She has said her goodbyes to Wilder, although it was hard and she hopes he did the same. "Is it over?"

The room falls silent, no word from Cole. Silence is a stronger response and his silence means he couldn't say goodbye.

He didn't end it.

Ivy cleans her tears, she is tired of crying, at this point, she is pissed. "You have to shitting me." She yells.

"Ivy," Cole flinches a little.

"Don't Ivy me, I broke things off with Wilder. I chose us." Her voice getting louder with each word.

"I will break things off as well if you answer this one question." His voice matching hers. "If we don't have a daughter and you were put in the same position of choosing, will you still choose me?"

It's Ivy's turn to be silent. She is thinking and she knows she's a hypocrite for even considering the scenario."That doesn't matter, I chose our family."

"You chose Kitty. If it wasn't for her you will choose him over and over again." Cole argues.

"What's the difference? Why can't you do the same?"

"I can't go on pretending, she will notice as she did before this vacation."

"Pretending, how long have you been doing that?" Ivy walks over to the bed and takes a seat, she's feeling nauseous with all this information.

"I don't know," Cole mutters honestly.

"What's going to happen with us? " She asks.

"I don't know."

Ivy let out a bitter laugh, "I don't want to see you until you know what you want." This is the hardest thing she has ever said to him but she needs to do this.

"Ivy?" He tries to walk up to her.

She puts her hand up in the air indicating that he stays where he is at.

"Don't," She warms closing her eyes preventing more tears. "Please leave." She chokes out.

"Ivy please." He pleads.

"Just go." She yells. He does as told. Once he closes the door, Ivy breaks down and let it all out.

~~~
There she is with bags under her eyes, rosy cheeks stained with dried-up tears, her eyes dry which is an indication that she can't cry anymore, her fist balled as he stands in front of a white door. Her hesitation to knock on the door is not a surprise considering she was here earlier to break his heart and now she is here for...
She doesn't even know why she's here.
"This is stupid." She says herself.
Why is she in front of Wilder's door? Hasn't she done enough damage? What is she going to say when she set her eyes on him?
She lifts her hand to knock but she pauses. She drops her hand by her side and begins to walk away. She walks back to the door and before she an overthink it, she knocks.
The knock is faint at first then she knocks harder before dropping her hands by the side again awaiting a response. Her heart beating so fast, she could have a heart attack.
Waiting for a response feels like days as a second goes by, she can't do this. She attempts to walk away when the door opens.
Ivy's heart stops as she awaits a handsome face to accompany the open door but to her surprise, it's not who's she's expecting.
If anyone told Ivy that her heart can break any further she won't believe but seeing this girl with a big smile on her face, appears at the door wearing Wilders's shirt shatters what's remaining of her heart.
"Hi," Angel greets.
"H-Hi," Ivy manages to speak.
"Wilder is in the shower, do you want to see him?" She smiles at Ivy.
Is she mocking her? Ivy wants to rip her into shreds but she has no right to. She deserves this, so why is she surprised? She pushed him away and made a choice.
"No,"
