Hooting Of Crowd

The hooting of the crowd, the chuckles resonating with the words congratulations, laughs, and laughs, amidst some warm, jealous hugs, some envied that they didn't get the award but still showed off their happiness for her.

I was admiring her from a distance, lost somewhere in the pool of people, music were bashing in the buffer pointed at different corners of the hall. The smile blooming on her face was something I couldn't describe in words. For a while, I groped for the right words but failed.

It's was serene as the wind blowing at the beach accompanied by the slashing of the water waves in the evening as the sun hide its face behind the horizon.

She was happy so was I.

But all of a sudden, I felt the voices burying under the weight of the heels of the crowd moving around me. There were ghosts of them roaming around me. Surrounding me with there existence, yet, I could see their faces moving, their smile parting and opening as if they were laughing at some creepy joke their partner had just cracked. But there's no voice. Silence, as I groped my hands up in the air to call their attention to me.

"Hey, listen." I shouted.

And no one paid attention to me. As if I am inaudible to them just like they all were.

"Am I in the world of ghost?"

"Or am I died?"

I thought.

They all continued with their activities as I kept on shouted, waving my hands at them but it's of no use.

I pulled my hand back.

The prevailing quietness tightening its thread around me was haunting me as if I were in some haunted house by the end of the road. The house of ghosts.

I looked for her. She was there standing amidst alot of people. Still talking to her. Congratulating her on getting this new title.

I waved my hand at her but it seemed like she was one ghost among them too as she didn't respond to me.

The sneering sound of silence began buzzing in my ears and grew in velocity as the hard I try to ignore it.

Piercing through my delicate tissues of ears it was nearly killing me as I sensed blooding dripping through them.

I covered my ears with my hands but it was still drilling in them. It was going out of my control. I couldn't bear it anymore. Immediately, I rushed out of there.

Out of the haunting house.

When I heard a whisper which later grew more intensified and turned into screams.

"Love is an uncertain thing, Arthur."

I ran. As far as I could from this voice following me wherever I go. I ran from her philosophy which even after years and it still echoes in my ears like it's just fresh. It's just yesterday she told me this.

The heavens had pulled on the dark duvet of clouds. Thunderstorm was bolting the sky as I stopped near my car. The drops of rain were falling against the metallic roof of my car as I saw my reflection in the glass of the window washed by the rain drops.

"Love is an uncertain thing."

It bangs in my ears as I fell on my knees and covered my ears but it was still drilling in. I shouted as louder as I could.

"Stoppp.... Stopp.."

But it didn't. The voices kept of killing me with their shrills.

I ducked my face in my hands and began crying, shouting.

And it stopped.

As I felt a hand trailing over my shoulders and grabbing them.

"What happened, Hun?" I heard a concerned voice.

I, immediately, tipped my head off my hands and turned it around. The moment I saw her I screamed.

"Help?"

I wasn't sure if I was audible to her now or not. I wasn't sure if she could hear me now or not. All I knew was that I was dieing.

It was killing me.

My ears were dripping blood. My hands were quivering with fears, my eyes shot wide because of extreme shock as I stood up quickly and hugged her tightly. My figure was trembling against her body.

She was so terrified to found me in this position that it took her moments to accept it and wrapped her arms around my back and stroke it.

"Shh... Nothing happened. I'm here with you." She hushed me.

I didn't realize what had happened to me. It was so quick, wo surreal that I could not believe it was true.

It all appeared as a horrific dream. A nightmare which accompanied me for quite some time for now. And stopped visiting me in the last few days. Now, unfortunately, it came to me today. To ruin a perfect day of my life.

I had imagined so much to do with her. To talk to her and know about her. But what happened was exactly against all my hopes.

Our dresses were slicked to our bodies as we were completely drenched in the rain water. It was raining cats and dogs. The sky was thundering with storm.

And below I was shaking like a child afraid of storm and lighten wrapped in the arms of her lover.

This moment was alone enough to ruin my impression in her perspective but I really didn't care for that at that moment as I was in a state of sheer shock and couldn't realize anything else.

"Carl stop crying. I'm here. Nothing happened. See loom at me." She spoke politely.

I was so terrified that the thought of detaching my body from her send cold chills down my spine. My legs began shaking terribly.

She made me sit on the footpath and joined me down there. Her one hand was constantly stroking my back as other was cupped around my mouth.

"Here look in my eyes." She tilted my head.

"Nothing happened. You're completely fine."

My eyes were still shot agape. Red with the fear with flowing in it.

As the words from a past memories was still echoing slowly in my ears in low whispers.

"Love is an uncertain thing."

I clasped her hand so tightly that he winced with pain.

I didn't realize of it as I was so taken by my fear.

"Nothing has happened, Arthur. Trust me."

"It's all within your head. Just shake it off."

I nodded my head but it was for a response to her consolation but it happened itself because of the extreme trembling of my body.
