Direction Of Her Gaze

"Where have you been? Or I'd say where have you been so busy that you didn't get the time to call me once a day?" I said in my phone.

"There's nothing like that. I was just occupied in the painting short course I enrolled myself into few days before the holidays were announced."

"I see."

"C'mon, Arthur! Just chill!"

"Umm... I'm."

"You don't seem to. Okay! Leave it. Tell me, what are you doing in the evening?" She asked flipping the topic of conversation.

"Nothing. All alone at home."

"Great!! I'll be coming in the evening to your place. Let's have a movie night!"

I seemed ok with her plan because I was already looking for ways to escape from this solitude.

"Ok. I'll be waiting for you!" Said I before hanging on the call.

I walked out of my room and flipped my orbs over the mess I had spread all over there, couch buried under the huge pile of dirty clothes as I didn't wash anything, my laziness was all to be blamed for this. Glasses were scattered all over the chest of the table, tea cups with two sips of it still remaining in them for two days before. The half eaten slice of bread and what not. Shopping bags of goods I bought the other day when I went to market to bought some sugar as I came to know that I ran short of it and needed to sweeten the tea I had made for me in the evening. Slipping into my snow shoes I, immediately, marched out of my home. Though, initially, I went to shop some sugar but I had picked many others things which I felt I would need like cheese (which I never ate), garlic paste, soya oil, mustard seed, and stuff like that which I rarely to never use in my life.

When I was getting the goods scanned and billed, I recall, a woman standing behind me in the line waiting for her turn to get her goods billed, when I casually turned around and saw confused expressions on her face. It didn't take me long to decipher them as in the past weeks I had interacted with many people at many public places with somewhat similar expressions on their faces when they see me.

I looked at her face and then followed the direction of her gaze. It was on my goods. 'why would she have an eye on them when she can easily afford all of them?'.

In fact, it wasn't on all of them but on one specific thing, as I reckoned from the angle of her eyes. I turned my head straight once again and my eyes in the direction of the things the counter boy was one by one picking out from the basket, scanning the barcode on it and them putting them aside.

I flipped my head back at her and then at my goods. It was a blue pack of sanitary pads the boy just picked out of it and I saw the countenance changing once again though there was familiarity but the intensity had increased.

'Why is she seemed so taken by the fact that a pack of sanitary pads was there in my basket?'

Even though, I didn't know why have I picked it up in the first place. There was alot of things I had no idea about why I picked them but what's there to be aghast on so much as to the kind of expressions she was giving me.

I began to arrange the mess I had created, lowering the burden of clothes form the sofas to mopping the wrapper spread on the floor to doing the dishes scattered all around the home. I made it so much as presentable that a girl could be welcomed there.

I lighted scented candles and played soft music on the speaker in a low volume. I was in the kitchen when the door bell rang and I scurried to it.

Clad in her black flannels and peach loose t-shirt which had knot right on her midriff exposing her belly button. Her hair were braided in a loose tail which she had put to her chest. Her lips were smeared with a light peachy shade of pink as they carelessly stretched wider into a beautiful smile.

She leaned forward and hugged me tightly, as I dragged her inside and shut the door behind us.

"Can't you wait to get in?"

"No. See how much I have missed you!" She giggled on my shoulder.

I pushed her back and plucked slightly on her lips taking some of its tint on my lips and then we both walked in to the living room where a complete vibe had been created by me.

"Umm... Impressive!" She said curling her lips and raised her eyebrows in amazement.

"Thanks Hun!"

She turned around to face me and them swirled her arms around my neck. Her sultry breath caressed my chin, her eyes deep, glinting with heated passion, love, and boiling desires looked into my eyes.

"What?"

"I like the vibe." She said as her eyes travelled down to my lips.

"Thanks. Which movie would you like to watch. Actually, I haven't finalized one yet. Was just waiting for you to arrive."

With her tips she traced the edges of my collar and then jerked me closer.

"Anything romantic would work." She whispered seductively.

"Eh. Someone seems in a mood today."

"Well, you guessed it right." She winked.

I curled my arms around her waist then threw her back in the sofa.

"Oh, be easy man." She said pushing me back.

I shifted next to her in the sofa and fetched the remote of the TV and played the movie on it.

"Would you mind if I go and fetch something to eat in the middle of movie?"

"Sure!"

I went to the kitchen and brought the bowl of popcorns I've already served in a bowl. When I was back she was busied in watching the movie. Carefully, I put the bowl on the table, and sat next to her.

She slipped off the shoes from her feet and then flipped them on the table. My gaze fell on them instead of the TV. And then it travelled all the way up to her face. She seemed engrossed fully in the movie, as I assumed but I was wrong.

She winked at me right before I was ready to turn my head back to the TV.
