Chapter 102_ Surgical Wound
Arya stormed out of the bar, tears blurring her vision as she opened the car door and climbed inside. She ignited the engine and sped off, leaving a trail of smoke behind.
“Arya!" Chloe called out, her voice filled with concern as she watched the car speed down the road. She turned her head when she heard footsteps, and her eyes glared at the person who had hurt her friend.
Alonso pulled Kane behind him and moved closer to Chloe, but when he was about to touch her, Chloe stepped back, creating distance between them as she held her hands up, stopping him from coming closer. “Don't come closer, Alonso," she said, her voice filled with restrained anger.
Alonso's brow furrowed, not liking the way Chloe distanced herself from him, and he called out to her, “Chloe, listen to—”
"Am I also a bet?” Chloe asked, cutting his words off, and Alonso frowned at her.
"What do you mean?” he asked, his heart racing at the thought of what was to come.
“Did you also make a bet on me? I wouldn't be surprised; after all, you are friends with him." Chloe seethed, shooting daggers at Kane, who was pacing back and forth and was on the phone.
“No, I swear, I didn't—” Alonso trailed off when Chloe interrupted him once again.
"Please stop; I don't want to hear more lies from you. You are just scum like that friend of yours who thinks he can toy with someone's heart and feelings. I swear to God, Alonso; if anything happens to Arya, both of you will be held accountable!” Chloe shouted, raising her voice, and without waiting for any response, she flagged down a cab and drove off in the same direction Arya had gone.
Away from there, Arya was driving down the road, scolding herself as tears rolled down her cheeks. With her seatbelt tightly buckled, she held onto the steering wheel tightly; her vision blurring with tears, Arya couldn't see clearly but kept driving. “How could you fall for that scum, Arya? You are a fool! A fool!"
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a truck lunged forward, honking, but Arya was lost in her emotions, and by the time she realized what was happening in front of her, it was too late. The truck collided with her car, swerving it to the side, her head hitting the wheel, and she lost consciousness immediately.
A white sports car drove past Arya’s car, but suddenly reversed back, and a pair of long legs stepped out, wearing black shades. He was accompanied by a man who seemed to be his assistant.
“Boss, should we help her?" Fred asked, and when the man glared at him, he immediately understood what his boss meant by that look and quickly rushed to Arya’s car to open the door. Just as he was about to carry Arya, the boss suddenly stopped him.
“Don't touch her; I’ll carry her." He commanded, making the assistant nod at the boss and quickly go to open the car door for them. They entered the backseat with Arya; Fred closed the door, rushed to the driver's seat, and drove off, leaving the road deserted as if they had never been there.
======
Smith Hospital;
Once they arrived at the hospital, Arya was immediately wheeled into the emergency room, and both men stood outside waiting for the doctor’s appearance. Fred looked at his boss with furrowed brows; he couldn't understand what he was doing and why he decided to help their company’s rival, and his curiosity got the better of him as he opened his mouth to speak, “B-Boss, I don't—”
Before Fred could complete his words, Nicholas stopped him with his icy gaze and said, "I’m not inhumane enough to leave her that way, Fred. We shouldn't allow the bad blood between our companies to stop us from doing what is right and from remembering our humanity.”
Fred nodded, suddenly realizing that his boss was right, and that it would be cruel to have come across such an incident and leave Arya behind simply because she was working with Maranello Enterprises. That would be too cruel of them. Suddenly, the door to Arya's ward flung open, and the doctor who had attended to her came out, glancing between both men.
“How are you related to the patient? We have an immediate plan to discuss with her family," Doctor Smith said, his brown eyes darting from Fred to Nicholas.
“I am her boyfriend, so please tell me what is wrong with her,” Nicholas stated, his words making Fred stumble slightly as he snapped his head at him and looked at him with widened eyes. ‘What was his boss up to?’ Fred mused, unable to understand the man's actions.
“Well, her right forearm was badly injured and fractured out of position. We have two treatment options. The first one is conservative treatment; closed reduction and consolidation with a cast. The right arm needs to be completely locked and the time will be relatively long. The second option is immediate surgery. The healing effect is good and the time is short. Do you have any questions?” Doctor Smith explained, and Nicholas stayed quiet for a moment.
"How big is the surgical wound?” he asked after a moment of silence.
“About four to five centimeters,” the doctor responded, and before Nicholas could reply, Chloe appeared, trying hard to catch her breath, her eyes fixed on the emergency room.
“I'm here for Arya Cobbler. How is she, Doctor?" Chloe asked. She had followed the direction in which Arya's car had gone, and her heart almost leaped from her chest when she saw Arya's car in the middle of the road and how damaged it was. She hurriedly got out of the cab driver's car and searched through the vehicle, but she couldn't see Arya. Luckily, she encountered a passerby who told her that Arya had been saved by two gentlemen and they had probably taken her to the hospital. There was only one hospital near that road, and Chloe was certain she must have been taken to the renowned hospital of the Smith family. Thanking the passerby, and without wasting another moment, Chloe entered the cab and pleaded with the cab driver to take her to Smith Hospital.
As Chloe entered the hospital, she went straight to the reception area and asked if a patient named Arya Cobbler was being brought to their hospital. Upon checking the computer, the receptionist confirmed Arya's presence and directed Chloe to the floor where Arya had been taken. Chloe ran from the reception area to the top floor and reached Arya’s ward.
