Chapter 98_ Jailers

After an intense makeout between Marco and Evelyn, they straightened up their clothes, and Evelyn turned to look at Marco, “By the way, do you think the two jailers out there spied on us?”

"I don't think so.” Marco answered as they went to the main door and knocked on the glass so that they could be free.

As they heard the knocking, Kane and Arya unlocked the door and walked inside.

Arya looked between the two of them and asked, “Is everything alright?"

Evelyn nodded. “Absolutely. In fact, thank you for setting up this meeting, and thank you for waiting outside for so long.”

Marco walked closer to Kane; he’s still a bit rigid, but the murdering light in his eyes was gone. “You didn't peek, right?” He asked,

“Of course not.” Kane replied, and they exchanged a look. Marco doesn't seem very convinced, but he doesn't say anything else.

“Well, I’m just glad everything worked out in the end.” Arya said, and Evelyn smiled at her. It was a genuine smile that stunned Arya for a moment.

“I owe you, Arya. I really owe you.” Evelyn said,

"Actually, it was Kane’s idea to..."

“Kane’s a jerk." Evelyn cut Arya off.

“Hey, but it was my idea." Kane butted in, and Evelyn turned to glare at him.

“You were the source of the problem. Thank the heavens, you’ve got Arya. I owe you nothing.” Evelyn said, and Marco sighed as he stepped forward and held out his hands to Kane.

“What if we are friends again and we call it even?” Marco said, and Kane nodded as they shook hands after a long time.

Evelyn moved closer to Arya. “As for me, what if I tell you who the mole is and we are even as well? I don't like to owe.”

“Really?" Arya said,

Evelyn gave her a nod. "Of course. Unlike what you might think, I hate unfair competition. The mole was working for Nicholas' group of companies long before I joined the company.”

“Well, it's a generous offer, but I think I already figured it out.” Arya said, Both Marco and Kane looked at her, surprised as they exclaimed.

“Really?" Kane said,

“You did?" Marco said,

“Let's hear it then. I’ll tell you if your intuition is right.” Evelyn said,

“The mole is Victoria." Arya said, and Evelyn gaped at her in surprise.

“That's…. correct.” Evelyn exclaimed.

“But how did you figure that out?" Marco asked curiously.

“The other day, Lewis called her ‘Lucrezia Borgia’. I looked her up, and apparently she was a famous poisoner, so I thought that he must have figured out that Victoria put some of Martina’s pills into his coffee. Martina was my suspect at first, but I couldn't find anything against her.” Arya explained,

“But what if Lewis was the mole?” Marco asked,

“In that case, he would have called in sick the day of the test. Why poison himself?”

“Right." Marco nodded.

Arya continued, “As for Martina, the mole stole documents from the Naples office first, but at that time Martina just got there. There is no way she could orchestrate the whole thing as a fresh hire.”

"You did some impressive detective work.” Evelyn complimented.

"Thank you. The only thing I still can't figure out is why Victoria did all this.” Arya said, her brows pulling together.

"I think you will have to figure that out as well, because I have no idea.” Evelyn said, and Marco nodded in agreement.

"Yes, you’re definitely the right person to put an end to this espionage madness. Especially because tomorrow I'm going to take the day off.” Marco said as he looked at Evelyn and smiled.

“What a coincidence! I'm taking a day off as well.” Evelyn said as they took each other's hands and started walking towards the door, but Kane stopped them.

“Wait a minute, not so fast.” Kane said as he pointed at the mess all around. “Someone has to pay for all this mess, and it won't be me. You two will stay here, ‘making up for the lost time’ and waiting for the owner of the restaurant, and I’ll take Arya to the hotel to get some well-deserved rest.” He said, and without waiting for a response, he grabbed Arya's hands and left a stunned Marco and Evelyn behind.

The next day, Arya arrived very early in the office after an almost sleepless night. She sat on her desk, staring at the entrance, waiting like a lioness as she waited for everyone to arrive.

After some time, everyone arrived at the office, and Arya gathered them together. As she addressed the room, “I know who the mole is.”

"What?” Everyone exclaimed, while Lewis and Victoria exchanged glances as she trembled slightly.

"Yes. And I’ll wait for this person in Marco's office for the next five minutes. I want to know how we ended up in this situation. If the mole takes full responsibility, we can work out a solution internally; otherwise, we'll go to the authorities. And I'm not bluffing. Thanks to Melinda Cocatti, I know what really happened in Naples.” Arya said, and she walked away, giving Victoria a chance to come to her and reveal everything to her.




A/N; and Victoria is our mole. A new character will be introduced soon, as his presence will be needed for the final arc of Taming the Playboy. Can anyone guess who he is? And what would his role be? Hehe, I’ll be looking forward to your comments.
