Chapter 17 Trapped By A Kiss
"Why do you have a gang term tattooed on your hand?" She asked, moving a bit closer to take note of every of his reaction. Just as she had expected, he didn't budge. He just stood there, gazing at her, marveled at her curiousness.
"You should have gone for the work of a detective instead of a blogger miss Anderson"
"I'm sure I'll make a perfect detective," she said in sarcasm. "Vatos locos isn't a common word, but still it's tattooed on your hand"
"Is getting a tattoo your problem?" he said as he slowly walked to where she was. "Because I don't see any use for your questions" he stroked her chin with his fingers as she shuddered. What was he doing? If this was a way of getting her mind off his tattoo, well he was sure good at it.
Rachael pressed her body against the wall to ensure there wasn't slight body contact between the two of them, but that wasn't working because he kept coming closer whenever she moved an inch away from him.
"What are you doing?" She asked when she couldn't take it anymore. The space between them barely even measured an inch.
" Answering your question" he shrugged acting all innocent as if he didn't know exactly the effect he had on her. He was good-looking and was supposed to know how much women fantasized about him.
"I think I have my answers already," she said defeated. Her body couldn't bear any more seconds of Xavier being so close to her. She was scared of doing something like dragging him by his collar and pressing her lips against his. That was the only thing she yearned for at that point, especially when his full lips weren't far from her reach
"I haven't even said anything concerning the tattoo darling" he narrowed his eyes. At this point, Rachael knew he was playing with her.
The elevator began to move again, bringing an end to the tension. Rachael breathed a sigh of relief as she watched Xavier step away from her with his hand dug into his pockets. "That wasn't up to 30"
"What? You wanna stay in here longer with me?" she spat out sarcastically, folding her arm. Xavier only shook his head at her conclusion. At least he was able to take her questions away from her lips. A blogger finding about his confraternity was a big no. At the slightest chance, she could write an article about him. She had done it once, nothing was stopping her from doing it again. VATOS LOCOS was an organization he inherited from his father before he passed on. So he couldn't bare to have it destroyed.
Xavier was the first to step out of the elevator while Rachael tagged along.
"How late are we?"
"I own the company. I can choose when to show up"
"But you were earlier screaming at the technician. If you had your way you would have ripped his head of its body"
"Miss Anderson. I cannot do what I preach against. I don't like late comings that apply to myself. My employees know that of me" he spoke firmly. Now that was the only thing he said that Rachael didn't have a problem with.
Her lips let out a sigh of relief as soon as she sat on the car seat. Her body already ached from standing inside that elevator and also from putting up with Xavier for that long.
"Change of plans, we are going somewhere else," Xavier announced the moment he got inside the car.
"Where are we going?"
"You'll see"
"Hmmm I like surprises" she shrugged at him, but he didn't give any reply as the ride went on. As a matter of fact, he didn't say anything during the ride and the silence killed Rachael. The first few minutes she was grateful for, but as it went longer, she couldn't bear it anymore.
The car stopped when they got to the front of a building. Rachael stared around in confusion and then back at Xavier who prepared to open his car door.
"Is this it?" She asked curiously and he only gave her a nod.
"Oh," the sigh left her lips while she opened the door on her side and got out. "What is this place?"
"Your new apartment" he announced.
"What?" probably she didn't hear correctly.
"You heard me," he said.
Rachael with widened eyes looked around. The house was out of this world. A kind of house she had never thought of staying in her life. A perfectly structured bungalow painted all white. The glass window by the side reflected the Sun's light. Words couldn't explain how amazed she was. It even had a little garden at the side! When she told Xavier about staying in Magnus's apartment, she didn't expect him to react this way. He did care after all.
"Oh my God" she screamed into her palm.
"You welcome," Xavier said with a "don't make this weird" look on his face. He wasn't the sweet type and didn't want to be seen like that.
"Let go in," he said while jiggling the keys in his hands. Rachael trailed from behind with her heart about to explode. The white door was opened and the both of them got in. Her mouth dropped momentarily. This was magnificent. A mixture of endearingly vibrant colors, made the modern, multi-functional sitting room look quite exclusive. The colors of choice used imposed a delightful air of trendy sophistication. She also admired the cotton white walls and dark, floor area covered with expensive tiling. The house looked too good to be real, and the only word that could make it out of her mouth was.
Wow!
Out of joy, she rushed to Xavier, giving him a surprise hug. It was all out of ecstasy. She realized what she was doing and immediately broke the hug, but instead of Xavier letting her go, he pulled her back. It wasn't a hug, this time it was a kiss. Rachael's eyes widened the moment his lips pressed against hers.
