Chapter 19: More Reasons To Kill Them
"I won't tell you to take down the article because the damage is already done. I am losing a lot of money and let me tell you something I don't joke with my funds"
"But it was okay when you told me to write about Xavier instead" she fired back.
Magnus was stunned by her attitude. He tapped on the table, tilting his head to the side as he smiled creepily. Oh God! this man had the attributes of a psychopath Rachael thought inwardly, holding her fork tightly Incase of anything.
The waitress came back with a bottle of vodka and a cup. She was about to pour it into the cup, but he stopped her, dismissing her immediately. He served himself instead. The glass of water by her side was also taken by him. He emptied the water on the floor without single remorse in his eyes. Rachael with widened eyes looked around to see if anyone witnessed the insanity of this man, but nobody did. After wiping the cup with a napkin he poured vodka into it and pushed it to her side.
Her lips couldn't close from bewilderment. One conclusion was drawn and it was how crazy Magnus was.
"You know I like women who have attitude. I heard you ladies call it hmm" he snapped his hand in a bid to remember. "Feminism" he snickered afterward. "It gives you more reason to want to kill them" he smiled at her. "Have a drink"
She dared not. At this point, her patience ran thin. He had been blabbing around, giving threats and all, but hadn't said exactly what he wanted.
"Magnus what do you want from me"
"To teach you a lesson"
"How are you going to do that?" She folded her hand across her chest, feigning sauciness. "I could work over to the nearest police station and have you reported for harassment"
"That might help, but you seem to forget. I am Magnus Collin"
Oh, he had a point and she hated it.
"I heard you got on the good side of Xavier. He even got you an apartment" he snickered. "How sweet"
"Are you stalking me you lunatic"
"Hey watch that tone" he snapped at her. "Now look, no one makes a ridicule of me. You are going to pay with every last bit of your blood Rachael" he stated. This time he wasn't grinning, nor was he chuckling. He had a look of death in his eyes and Rachael quivered in just one stare.
He took a long gulp of his vodka. During this process his sleeve went down his arm a bit, revealing a tattoo. Rachael gasped.
VATOS LOCOS is inscribed on his hand just like Xavier's. She stared at him in puzzlement. He noticed her astonishment and dropped the drink back on the table. "Look Rachael darling. I am not so different from your lovely Xavier. I must warn you he is worse than me, pretty worse in fact. If you are scared of me" he drew himself closer to the table. "What would happen if you find out who your loving Xavier truly is"
"What are you talking about?"
"Have a nice day dear" he patted her lightly on the cheek before leaving. Now Rachael was left with the most complicated puzzle piece to solve. He did not only succeed in instilling fear in her, but he also turned her head upside down.
If Xavier and Magnus hated each other, why did both of them have the same tattoo written on their hands? This wasn't adding up. Her inquisitive self wasn't going to be at rest until she found out what connection the both of them had.
Rachael lost the appetite to eat. Magnus made her feel worse than before. Sometimes she wondered why a man with such great looks would have such a darkened soul
She dropped her money on the table and left the restaurant after of course examining the area to make sure he wasn't lurking around. With a heavy heart, she returned to the office.
**********
Rachael tiredly dropped the half-done work and was about to leave when Xavier stopped her.
"You aren't done with this"
"I know. It was too much. The car ride took a lot of my time"
"Miss Anderson you have to finish this" Xavier said behind his computer not even raising his eyes to look at her.
"But you always let me go once it's closing time"
"maybe next time you will finish your work more quickly"
Ok, why was he being mean? Was it because of the kiss? Rachael asked herself inwardly with a frustrated look on her face. The last thing she wanted was to spend any more time on this premises especially after Magnus handed her a fair dose of threats.
"Ok sir," she said in defeat. Now she had to spend extra hours at work. If she was lucky she might go home before dawn, but she knew herself_ being lucky was the last thing she was.
She sat on a seat and began. Rachael of course didn't fail to make multiple noises, like tapping her feet on the floor, coughing incessantly, and shifting on her chair, just to piss Xavier off the same way he did to her. At least he should have a fair dose of how being annoyed felt like.
"How long are you going to do that?" he asked moving his chair a bit backward to get a glimpse of her.
"Do what?" she feigned ignorance
"You are not the only one who has something doing miss Anderson"
"Why don't you give one of your employees to do that for you? You are the boss after all" she said with a lot of sarcasm in her voice which caused Xavier to scoff. "How long do you stay at work"
"As long as I want"
Rachael went back to her work. That look on Xavier's face spelled not-be-disturbed. She was going to keep to that, but her curious self decided to play ball.
"Magnus had the same tattoo as you" she spoke calmly and watched as he stiffened. He looked at her immediately with his hooded eyes which darkened in a split second like he was about to devour her
"What did he say to you"
