Chapter 6
Chapter 6
The man gently took the handkerchief near him and wiped the juice off his face while boiling in rages. That was the first time he would be treated like that.
At that moment, Diego helped but found her temperature different from Annie's, it was different, and just with that, he believed she wasn't Annie just a mere useless lookalike.
Almost immediately, just like the wind, Nadine found the man right beside but before she could react, her neck was gripped to the extent that she found it hard to breathe.
“You asked for death,” The man coldly said as his hand found itself on her neck, strangling her like his life depended on it.
But the more Diego choked her the more he felt the soreness in his throat, it was as if he was being strangled also but looking at her, her legs were dancing in the air while she was struggling to catch her breath.
Diego dropped her the moment the soreness he was feeling started getting out of hand and gently returned to his seat as he stared disgustingly at the lady who was coughing vigorously while trying to catch her breath.
“You should kill me. If that will satisfy you!” Nadine yelled as she fought back the tears that were about to stream down her cheeks.
“How could he treat her like a piece of treats? Why is the world so cold?
“What has she done to deserve that?
“Do you think if I wanted to kill you, I'd have to get your permission to do so?” Diego asked as he picked up the jar of oranges, putting some in the glass cup before gulping down.
He was furious but had to keep his cool before he lost control.
Diego stood up to leave but Nadine's voice stopped him on his track so he eventually had to turn black to look at her.
“If you don't have plans on killing me, why are you keeping me here?” Nadine asked, she needed to know the stranger she met right on the day her parents and pack were brutally killed.
“Do you have anywhere to go to?” Diego asked, not responding to her question and just he expected she was muted.
Nadine has nowhere to go, all her family has been killed and few members of her are remaining and they must be finding a way to survive on their own.
They wouldn't even want to accept or associate with her as they believed she was nothing but a mere weakling. After all, she's a human which they despised so much.
“Don't think of running away. Unless you want to be killed by your father's enemy,” The man said as he turned around to leave but Nadine didn't hesitate to say what she had on her mind.
“ If I leave I'll be killed by my father's enemies but if I stay just like you wanted, I'll eventually be killed by you, won't I?” Nadine yelled loudly as she stood up walking towards the man who was backing her.
She had intentionally asked the question, she wanted to read the man's expression, and she needed to know if the man wanted to kill her. The man didn't turn to look at her but she decided not to give up and find her way to his front.
“Am right, huh?” She asked as she stood in front of the man, Nadine stood so close to the man that just a few inches were away between them.
Alex was staying at the corner which was not too far away from the two and couldn't help but think the lady was courting her death with her hand.
“What do you want?”The man coldly asked. He has no time to entertain her bullshit, so he didn't hesitate to go straight to the point.
Beta Alex sighed helplessly after hearing his master's words, he couldn't believe the man didn't do anything to the lady who kept running her mouth.
“Damn! The man must have been lenient with her because of her face,” He thought as no one would dare to hurt in their pack not with her face.
“I want to leave, I can't stay even though I have nowhere to go,” She mumbled, she can't stay and do nothing under a stranger's control.
She wanted to fight her way out and get her revenge on them for causing her so much pain. She needed to leave to be able to get what she wanted.
“You want to get revenge?”Diego asked, he didn't want to go through her thoughts but he needed to know what exactly she had in mind.
“You…!” Nadine sputtered as she wondered how he was able to know what she had on her mind. She was aware of the man doing some kind of weird strange magic which she had always seen in movies.
“How do you plan on getting revenge when you're just a mere weakling who can't even protect yourself?”
“That's left for me to decide. It's my life, and I can do anything I want with myself.” Nadine retorted.
How dare he look down on her and even call her a weakling?
The man is biting more than he could chew and she definitely wouldn't let that pass through her.
“Did you just say your life?” Diego asked with a burning gaze as he continued walking towards her while she moved backward.
“Have you forgotten you begged me to save your life, huh?”
“ You humans are nothing but an ungrateful being, and you people would never cease to surprise me more,” The man said as his expression turned colder than usual.
“I didn't ask you to save, okay? You did that out of ……” As she was talking she retreated a few steps back only to have her feet entangled with the dining table.
She closed her instinctively and braced herself to take the ugly fall but the unexpected pain didn't come. Nadine felt a warm arm wrapping around her waist while a palm supported the palm of her head.
She let out a sigh of relief before she mouthed a “Thank…….”
Before she could finish her words of gratitude, the man supporting her let go of her body intentionally, which got her falling on the ground, not without her back aching as hell.
“You jerk. You did it intentionally!” Nadine cursed angrily, feeling annoyed as he watched the man step back without any remorse on his face.
“Wait for my return,” He coldly said before ascending the staircase.
“And why should I wait for a mere stranger to return? Who are you to give me orders, bastard?!” Nadine yelled loudly while groaning in pain.
The pain she was feeling was so unbearable that she had to look in the direction of the servants who stood still like a mere statue without making any attempt to help her.
“Someone should help me up,” Nadine asked angrily as she stared at them expecting at least one person among the four servants to walk towards her and help her but they all acted nonchalantly as if they couldn't see her.
“Damn! Their master had just done his and now his maids didn't hesitate to do theirs.” Nadine thought.
“Miss, are you all right? Why are you on the floor?” A loud voice yelled that despite the pain Nadine didn't need anyone to tell her who the voice belonged to.
She looked up and saw her maid Basil descending through the staircase in haste and Nadine couldn't help but feel emotional at that moment.
The best thing that has ever happened to her is having her maid beside her through her hard times as she couldn't imagine how it must have been hard for her to wake up alone in this cold world but luckily she had her by her side.
“You all stood there and watched her groan in pain yet …..” Basil's words were interrupted instantly by the servants “We only take orders from our master, I hope your Lady will know her place next time,” The maid who had spoken up earlier when Nadine drenched their master didn't hesitate to speak again.
“You!” Basil sputtered, feeling annoyed by bitch acting as if she was the lady of the mansion.
“How dare she look down on her Young lady, Damn, she needs to be taught a lesson!” Basil thought.
“Let her be, Basil.” Nadine calmly said as she was being held up by Basil.
“All right, Miss,” Basil responded as her tummy instantly made crying sounds which signified how starved she was.
“Pack enough food and let's return to the room,” Nadine whispered into her ears but Basil was confused by her lady's words upon hearing the word return.
She couldn't help but wonder why her lady wanted to return to the room. She had thought they would leave immediately but seemed otherwise.
“Do as I say basil,” Nadine said upon seeing her stand still.
