CHAPTER 49

Asher's pov
The spell's effect wore off with time and Maya woke up from her unconsciousness but was looking unsettled and weak. I quickly stood up from my chair and went to give her some support as she stood up from where she laid. She said no word and stared blankly as I thanked Edward and we left. I was guessing that whatever she found out was still heavy news that she just recieved, probably heavier than the history of the white wolves that Tommy and Shalom told her during her consultation. She looked shaken as her eyes were unfocused while I led us both to the car.
I helped her get into the passenger's seat and moved over to the driver's seat and got in. Once I was settled in the car, I turned to her and took her hand "Maya speak to me" I urged her and she licked her lips while her eyes turned wide with shock… it was like the news was hitting her with a greater shock this time "I'm a white wolf Asher, the last one of our kind" she replied and I froze too, growing speechless for a while as I tried to assimilate the fact that Maya being a white wolves had finally been proved.
Then she turned to me and was struggling to smile but confusion laced her face
"I'm an omega too Ash, a mixed werewolf. A white wolf as a father and an omega as a mother" she added and ran her fingers through her hair as she still tried to take it in after saying it out.
"It's all so confusing right now. I don't know if I should be happy or not, if I should cry or just… I honestly don't know anymore, I just can't believe I'm part of those kinds of wolves. I was lied to my whole life about my identity, Ash. I don't know how to react" she rattled as she began to breathe hard. I went closer to her and kissed her on her temple. "I know you need a moment, you mustn't tell me everything now. I'll just drive you home and let you have some time to yourself to finally take in everything you've discovered" I told her while gently playing with her hair to calm her and her breathing slowed and went back to normal with time.
"I'm so confused right now, finding out this fucked up destiny that I'm supposed to fulfill before it's too late. I mean, how the hell am I supposed to take over the blood moon pack?" She said to me and I didn't know when I gasped "what!" I exclaimed, not sure I heard her quite well and she looked at me
"My destiny is to take over the blood moon pack Asher, Alpha Rick killed Alpha Jamil, the former head of the pack… and being the last one of my kind, which Alpha Jamil also was, I have been destined to take over the pack and save the people from evil… I know I went through hell in the hands of those people but how do I even defeat them? I really want them to feel the pain I went through too one day but this whole revelation is quite heavy for me to take in… I need a moment" she rattled again and bent her head to rest on the dashboard while her hands supported her head. She looked really taken aback and exhausted.
I was shocked and speechless too. Maya was no ordinary wolf, if possible she was stronger than I was. She was an alpha but also an omega which was very rare. I doubt if it had ever happened before in the history of werewolves. I was more thankful to the moon goddess for giving me a strong woman of such prowess as a mate, I knew I was lucky to have Maya beside me and I was going to make her see that too because she deserved everything that was coming her way; she deserved the blood moon pack because she was the only one that could save the inhabitants of the pack from the wrath of Alpha Rick anvhis mercilessness.
I cupped her face and made her look at me. I gave her a look that basically told her not to give up on her destiny or to deny her potential and what she could achieve with the gifts given to her. "You're going to calm down now and I'll drive us home then you'll explain everything to me in detail so I will understand what's going on and what to do about it. For now just let us get home" I told her and she nodded "okay Ash" she obeyed and sat back in her seat then closed her eyes, trying to calm the ravenous thoughts and questions running in her mind.

We got to the house and they were all obviously waiting when we got inside. Edna went straight to Maya and led her to sit then sat beside her while everyone including me gathered to hear what she had to say. She didn't look as shocked as she did minutes ago when she was still reeling in the big revelation she just got from Alpha Jamil.
"You may want to grab a bowl of popcorn guys, because I have a lot to say and it's really huge" she said and it lessened the tension that was sizzling in the air as they smiled and Edna took her hand to let her know she wasn't alone and we would all do these with her.
Maya shared a smile with her and faced us all; she told us all about everything Alpha Jamil told her. She told us about alpha Rick and how he was once a white wolf but was cursed by the moon goddess and lost the white wolf powers he had when he destroyed the white wolf pack because he was banished when they saw the evil in him, she told us of how alpha Rick pretended to be a good man to Alpha Jamil and got his way into the blood moon pack then killed alpha Jamil when he got the chance to and took over the pack, she told us about how she was a half omega and Alpha white wolf and could shift between the two if she wanted and how she was the one according to her destiny to take over the blood moon pack since she was the last white wolf in existence and was the only one powerful enough to fight alpha Rick and take over the pack to save the people from his wrath and mercilessness.
When she was done, she relayed her concerns about how she hadn't even realized her full powers yet, how she didn't know how to shift yet or even knew what she could and could not do. She was clearly concerned and worry was all over her face.
"We've got this Maya, you're not in this alone… together we'd fight for what's yours and I know we'll win. Why? Because we're good people" Edna told her and gave her a hug. Maya's tensed shoulders sagged and I knew she was gradually feeling calm after getting the assurance that we were all there for her till she won this fight of hers.
"I'll definitely help in training you to become better at shifting… trust me" Daniel added and winked at her "thanks Dan, I'm really glad to have you all around me"
"Ok I think that's enough everyone. Now we all know what's happening and who Maya really is, I think she needs to rest so I'm going to take her with me now and we can continue the discussion during dinner" I interrupted and took Maya's hand "yeah lover boy do what you wanna" Shalom teased and everyone laughed as I went up the stairs with Maya, heading to her room.
"Thanks Ash, I feel better now though. Those jokes really helped in reducing the weight I felt in my chest" Maya told me as we walked up the stairs and felt glad. I was always glad whenever she let me know how I helped in making her feel better every time. "The only thing I need you to do for me now is take a nap and don't think about anything, just lay down and think of nothing… I believe that will help you sleep better" I told her and opened her door for her so she could go in "I want you to stay" she replied and pleaded with her eyes.
I had things to do but I couldn't refuse what she wanted. She was the one going through a rough patch and I was willing to help in any way I could so I was going to ignore every other thing and lay with her to make her feel better. I nodded and followed her into her room. I took off my jacket while she took off her shoes and earrings then we laid on the bed; her head resting on my chest as we laid in silence, I was sure she was still thinking. "What are you thinking about?" I asked and she sighed "I know you guys will be there for me and will fight by my side until the end but honestly Asher, I'm scared of what could happen. I've never been given such a huge duty or responsibility" she said and I clearly understood why she would feel that way. I kissed her on the forehead and pulled her closer "don't worry Maya, I'm sure the moon goddess is on our side so whatever happens, we'll be fine" I told her and patted her hair.
"The next step is to hatch a plan to get everything in motion. We'll need a plan to actually claim the pack for you" I added and she nodded, "we'll win Asher, the moon goddess will help us" Maya told me with a sleepy voice and I smiled "now sleep hun" I instructed and minutes later, I could hear her soft snores as she laid against my chest.
My phone began to vibrate in my pocket so I took it out and it was Killian. I quickly picked it up and placed the phone against my ear "hey man what's going on?" I asked quietly as I gently let Maya go from my body so I wouldn't wake her. "I overheard their plans Asher and it doesn't sound good" Killian replied and all the hair on my body stood on ends; Cypher was at alert too.
"What's the plan? Tell me quick before someone sees you" I urged him on and I listened to him attentively as he explained the whole plan of how they wanted to have I and Maya trapped by lying that they had her parents hostage and would kill them if she didn't come to see them.
At that moment, I knew alpha Rick was the incarnation of the devil himself. To think of using her parents against her, it was definitely going to be a weak point. She didn't know her parents and never got the opportunity to meet them so she didn't know if they were alive or not. If alpha Rick used the parent's card against her, it was going to spike her curiosity to want to know if they were there or not, if they were alive or not and she would want to go to the blood moon pack to be sure. I couldn't let her go alone, it would kill me internally to do so. I surprisingly had my curiosity heightened too, wondering if Maya's parents were actually going to be there or not. It seemed possible they would be there because Alpha Rick was once a white wolf, there was a possibility that he knew them before he destroyed the white wolf pack and they were among the lucky few that escaped.
So many maybes flooded my mind and I was confused on what to believe too. "Ok thanks Killian, I won't let Maya know" I told him and ended the call immediately. I couldn't risk letting Maya know about the plan because I knew she would insist on going to that pack to check if her parents were actually there or not. I decided not to let her know to keep her safe, true or not, it was going to be a trap at the end of the day and she would be in danger.
I turned to go back to the bed and she was awake and staring at me "won't let me find out what Asher?" She asked. Shit!!
