CHAPTER 75

Epilogue…
Edna's pov
I stared at the hundredth flower that Daniel had given me out of all the flowers he had been giving me for the past two weeks ever since we found out we were mates.
It was weird and shocking at first. To find out that your close friend is your mate and I felt like it would be a betrayal to Killian wherever he was now, moving on from him after just a year. I didn't know what to do, I didn't want to reject Daniel because it would anger the goddess and I didn't know if I would ever have feelings for him because we'd been friends for a long time until a few days ago.
I was in the kitchen alone making a late night snack after helping Maya put the babies to sleep when he came in. He was shirtless and had half sleepy eyes. I had never looked at Daniel that way but I couldn't help but feel my heart beat faster and my mouth ran dry at the sight of him looking like that.
I was also avoiding him ever since the blood moon festival after finding out he was my new mate. Guess the plan worked until that moment when we found ourselves alone in the kitchen.
"Hey" he said to me as he opened the refrigerator to grab a drink and it took me a short while before I replied "hey" in a tiny voice. He came closer and I wished he didn't.
I couldn't help my eyes as they roamed over his body; his sculpted muscles and V line that ran into his pants as it hung dangerously low on his waist
"midnight snack?" He asked, referring to the sandwich and I nodded, embarrassed that maybe he had caught me staring. I was glad that the kitchen was dark. He wouldn't see my face
"Is it for you or Maya, cause I know she might need it too after having twins… they don't let her sleep'' he joked and I smiled but the tension was still there between us because we still had an unfinished matter to talk about.
He stared at me for a while before he ran his hand through his hair and licked his lips "Edna we need to talk" he said
"Please don't, don't bring it up… not yet please, I'm not ready" I told him with pleading eyes and he understood. He nodded his head and sighed
"If that's what you want then, but I'll be waiting for you. I don't mind being with you though… maybe it was all fate" he said and with that he walked out of the kitchen, leaving alone in the dark with my thoughts.
Fate? To take Killian away? I didn't really feel his absence that much anymore since we didn't get the chance to be really close due to the distance between us but I accepted him as my mate after the moon goddess chose him for me. So why take him away and throw another mate at me and call it fate? That had to be some extreme bullshit.
I took my snack and left the kitchen, shoving these thoughts that wanted to devour me to the back of my mind.
Fast forward some days from then and here I was staring at the flower he just gave me this morning. I told him to stop when he just started but he just gave me a cheeky smile and began to add notes to the flowers… telling how much he adored me and wanted me to want him too, it was a heart melting gesture and day by day, I found myself falling for him.
He didn't stop there, he also began to help me a lot and began to compliment me all the time, which wasn't a Daniel thing but he was doing it for me… I was finally convinced and won over, Daniel had my heart in his palm already.
I took the note from the flower and went to meet him at the pack's garden where he sat alone, probably thinking. I sat beside him on the low bench and turned to him
"hey" I said and he smiled at me
"hey" he replied
"So I got your flower, I loved it" I told him and he looked at me with surprise
"You've never said that before" he said
"Do you mean it?" He asked me
"Yeah, I do. I decided to give us a chance, I don't know if you still want it but I'm ready now and I'm sorry for keeping you waiting for so long" I answered him and he came closer to me, his strong scent invading my nose and my senses "you shouldn't apologize for wanting closure before opening another ###CHAPTER with me. I completely understood and was ready to wait for you" he said and took my hand
"I'm so glad you want to give us a chance now," he added with a chuckle.
"Yeah, I didn't think I'd fall for how sweet you are too" I told him and he stared at me for a while. I met his gaze and the air shifted between us, he looked at my lips then back at my eyes and cupped my face, trailing his fingers to the back of my neck while his thumb gently smoothed my cheek. It was a delicious feeling so I closed my eyes.
"I want to kiss you" he whispered and I opened my eyes to look at him, he looked like he really wanted it but was hesitating because he needed my permission and I loved that, he was so sweet.
"Can I kiss you Edna?" He asked and I nodded with a smile "yeah"
Our lips met and the feeling was glorious.
It was a short kiss but I caught the taste of coffee in his mouth and I wanted to taste it again, I loved it. "Did that feel kinda weird?" He asked and I giggled
"A little, but we'll get used to it" I replied and pulled him for another kiss.
It was a new beginning for me…

Maya's pov
It was already two months after I had given birth to my babies Killian and Jillian and life as Asher's wife had never been more perfect. He was the life partner I had always wished for and my love for him had never diminished, not even a bit ever since we married and had kids. We named Killian after Edna's Killian so he would always be remembered by us and Edna was happy. She was even happier now with Daniel and their relationship was flourishing with so much love between them.
We were at the airport, bading Tommy and Shalom goodbye as they held their luggage, ready to leave for Italy and Germany to continue with their research and studies… it was their passion so I understood.
I hugged Shalom and we smiled at each other "I'm going to miss you" I told her and she touched the tip of my hair gently
"You know I'll miss you too Maya" she said and we just stood there smiling before Edna came and pulled us all into a group hug
"I'm gonna miss you too Shalom" she said playfully and ruffled her hair "you guys definitely have to come back once in a while this time, or I'll hunt you both down" she said and we laughed
"Of course Edna, we'll come. Besides, the responsibility's a lot now… having two packs" she replied and gave us one last hug before she left to board her plane.
It was time to tell Tommy goodbye so we went to meet Asher, Daniel and Tommy where they stood waiting for the announcement to come on for the flight to Germany. Asher pulled me to his side and gave me a kiss on my forehead while I smiled at him. "Goodbye Tommy, we'll miss you" Edna told him and gave him a tight hug
"You know I'll be back soon" he said and came to give me a hug too "I'll miss you too, Alpha Luna" he told me and I blushed, I wasn't used to the title yet. The fact that I was an alpha and a Luna was unnerving and also came with a lot of responsibilities.
"Miss you back Tommy, come back" I replied and we hugged briefly before he grabbed his box once the announcement signalled his departure. He waved at us and turned around leaving for his plane back to Germany.
I was going to miss them, Tommy and Shalom. They were fun to have around when they were here with us. Hopefully, they will come back soon.
"Time to go back to Killian and Jillian then" Edna said as she linked arms with Daniel and tagged along with us. They were home with the babysitter, I didn't think it was wise to bring them to the airport at such a tender age and Asher thought the same so we got a last minute babysitter for them.
"I know right, I've missed my babies" I told Edna sarcastically with an eye roll and Asher chuckled.
Don't get me wrong though, I loved my babies so much but being a mum wasn't all rosy and sweet. They cried so much I thought I was going to have a headache permanently.
After Alpha Rick died, I took over the blood moon pack but had it conjoined with the Royal pack so I and Asher had the name of both packs changed to 'The Royal Blood Moon Pack' and I became an Alpha Luna. I created a new team council with which I was going to work with and bring positive changes to my pack. We had a general team council too though, in charge of both packs and Edna was made the zeta, Daniel was appointed the beta, Tommy the Gamma and Shalom was made the pack secretary and we made sure the positions were always available for Shalom and Tommy whenever they came home.
We finally got home after a quite long ride and I went straight to check on Killian and Jillian first. I dismissed the babysitter once I saw they were asleep and went to change into my pajamas after taking a shower.
I went downstairs with Asher and Edna was making dinner with Daniel… they were all lovey dovey and I just smiled while watching them
"Get a room you guys" I teased them as they broke their kiss and we all laughed while they served us dinner. We chatted and laughed on and on in between as we ate and when we were done, I and Asher washed the dishes and went upstairs for the night after telling Edna and Daniel goodnight.
We checked on Killian and they were awake so I fed Killian while Asher fed Jillian then we rocked them gently until they fell asleep which took a while. I sighed in relief once they were asleep and we laid them in their cots each. They looked so peaceful and lovely in their sleep as we watched them with so much love.
"I love you Maya" Asher suddenly said out of nowhere and I smiled "I love you too Asher" I replied and he pulled me in by my waist.
"always" he said
"always" I repeated
And he kissed me, so soft and gently that I smiled against his lips before kissing him back.
This was it, the peace, bliss, life of happiness and love. It was what I deserved and wanted and I was getting it all with the man I loved. I fulfilled my destiny, avenged my parents and was living the life I always dreamt of right from when I was little. I was sure my parents and Alpha Jamil were proud of me wherever they were now and I was proud of myself too, I accomplished all I wanted.
"My beautiful Alpha Luna" Asher said against my lips with a sexy growl and I gave him a quick kiss
"My handsome Royal Alpha" I told him and kissed again… this was bliss.
