Chapter 55 Lost in Fantasy?

Yvonne reached FA Center Company in the afternoon.

Perhaps because of Michael's help, her work in the design department went much smoother than before.

On Saturday morning, she drove to Bird Hills to pick up Joseph.

To her surprise, Elijah was also sitting in the living room, dressed casually.

Joseph whispered to Yvonne, "Old Harper is also going to Forest Manor with us."

"That's even better. I can save money on the tickets." Yvonne remembered that Elijah had a VIP gold card for that place.

As for Elijah, he still ignored Yvonne completely.

When the nanny brought Joseph's clothes, Yvonne intentionally said goodbye to her loudly, and then took Joseph's hand to leave.

"Elijah is taking a day off today. He'll come and relax with you guys," Aunt scolded Elijah, who was still sitting in the living room, "What are you waiting for?"

Elijah, upon hearing this, slowly got up and walked over, giving Yvonne a faint look. "Let’s go."

"Are you really going with us?" Yvonne pretended to be surprised.

Elijah smirked, "I don't want to go, but I can't trust Joseph with you alone."

Yvonne realized that she had been overthinking it again. It was all because of Joseph!

His aunt prepared a lot of fruits and drinks, affectionately sending them off.

When they set off, Yvonne chose to sit in the back seat with Joseph.

Due to the unpleasant incident a few days ago, Yvonne and Elijah didn't exchange a single word throughout the whole journey.

Joseph felt a sense of oppression and tried to start a conversation. "Auntie, they say Forest Manor sets off fireworks every Saturday night. Are we staying there tonight?"

"Ask your dad." Yvonne threw the question at Elijah, who was driving.

Joseph cleverly leaned forward and said, "Dad, auntie wants me to ask you."

"Tell her that we'll stay there tonight," Elijah responded calmly.

"Auntie, dad says we're staying at Forest Manor tonight," Joseph repeated earnestly.

Yvonne tapped Elijah's seat and said, "Are you not tired from all this back and forth with the child?"

"You're the one who made Joseph ask me. If anyone is tiring him, it's you," Elijah retorted.

"Fine, all the blame is on me." Yvonne couldn't argue with him and admitted defeat. "This way of communication is too tiring. Let's make peace."

"Make peace? What do you mean?" Elijah's words were meaningful.

Yvonne didn't think too much and replied casually, "Until the end of the hot spring."

"Oh..." Elijah responded disappointedly with a cold smirk.

Forest Manor was a top-notch private wellness center that was only open to the public for two months at the end of the year.

When checking in, Yvonne thought they would get two single rooms, one for herself and one for the father and son. But Elijah chose a family room.

Her inner resistance was strong when Elijah handed her the room key.

For a girl like her to stay in a so-called family room with a father and son gave her a feeling of being a stepmother.

Stepmother was a terrifying species to her.

She had been tormented by this species since she was a child, and she had nothing but hatred for them.

She liked Joseph, but she had never thought of being his stepmother. She couldn’t even allow the outsiders to imagine it!

"It's not convenient for me to stay with you two. Please find a small single room for me, even if it's just a bed." She didn't take the room key.

"You sure have a lot of requests," Elijah sneered coldly. "All the single rooms are fully booked. If you don't want to stay here, you can go back to the city."

Yvonne had no choice but to keep quiet.

The staff led them to a standalone two-story villa and said, "This is your family room. I hope you enjoy your stay at Forest Manor for the next two days."

"That's great!" Joseph cheered and ran inside first.

The living room on the first floor was disproportionately large, with two hot spring pools alone.

The second floor had three bedrooms and an outdoor swimming pool, with various fitness equipment and entertainment facilities.

Yvonne initially thought the family room would have two bedrooms and a living room, but she didn't expect it to be this extravagant.

Yvonne asked Elijah curiously, "How much money did you earn in these past two days?"

Elijah retorted, "You don't need to put in a single cent; why bother so much?"

Well said!

Yvonne chose a bedroom and put her luggage inside, then changed into a dark red swimsuit.

She was acutely aware of her body's advantages. The red color made her fair skin appear even more radiant.

She bought this swimsuit on sale from a well-known brand; its design was simple yet bold.

Because of the small amount of fabric on the top, with only two thin straps in the back, it seemed like it could be easily stretched out by her ample bosom at any moment.

Yvonne looked at herself in the mirror. Her body proportions were exceptional.

She didn’t understand why she couldn't catch Elijah's attention.

"Auntie, I'm going down to soak in the hot springs!" Joseph's voice came from outside.

In front of a six-year-old child, she couldn't feel comfortable wearing something so revealing.

She found a thin chiffon jacket from the suitcase to wear. It was slightly transparent, giving it a hazy beauty.

As she walked out of the bedroom, she coincidentally ran into Elijah coming out from the opposite room.

Elijah was wearing knee-length swim trunks and a gray short-sleeved t-shirt.

Although Yvonne had been intimate with him multiple times, it was either in the darkness or in faint lighting.

Even though he had great physical strength and skills, Yvonne had never seen his body clearly!

Yvonne thought she would have a chance to see his muscles in broad daylight this time, but he was covered up tightly, not giving her any opportunity!

"Mr. Harper, could you help me tie the straps in the back?" Yvonne intentionally called Elijah, who was about to go downstairs.

Elijah's gaze had already fallen on her, from top to bottom, and then from bottom to top.

Yvonne couldn't stand his pretentiousness. She smiled and swept her long hair behind her head. "Could you lend me a hand?"

"Sure." Elijah's voice trailed off, and his eyes instantly became fiery.

He reached out and lifted the collar of Yvonne's thin chiffon jacket. He then picked out the two thin straps and tied them into a knot.

"It's too tight, do you want to strangle me?" Yvonne playfully expressed her dissatisfaction.

"Then let's do it again." Elijah pulled with force, and Yvonne's back bumped into him.

Their skin touched, and something noticeable happened to a certain part of Elijah's body.

Yvonne giggled, "I thought you were trying to kick me out of Rhode Hills and live a celibate life. I didn't expect..."

"If I remain indifferent with you looking so sexy, wouldn't that be too cruel?" Elijah loosened the straps he had just tied.

Yvonne tilted her neck to the side. She could clearly feel his breath becoming heavier.

Their bodies were only a few centimeters apart. Both of them were aware of what the other was thinking at this very moment, but they maintained their composure, engaging in a silent game.

Who would please the other first? Who would lose?

"Alright?" Yvonne held the position for a long time and felt uncomfortable.

"What's the rush?" Elijah remained calm and collected as he twisted and turned the two straps, refusing to bring them together.

Only now did Yvonne realize that Elijah was playing a trick on her.

Not feeling annoyed, she smiled and said, "If you really can't tie it, then forget it. Worst case scenario, it'll fall off when we're soaking in the hot springs. Besides you and Joseph, there's nobody else around."

Elijah frowned, but within two seconds, he managed to fasten the two straps together.

"Thank you!" Yvonne turned around and smiled at him. "Joseph's presence really comes in handy."

The two of them went downstairs, one after the other.

Joseph climbed out of the hot spring pool and took out a purple swimming ring from a bag, handing it to Yvonne.

"Auntie, this is the swimming ring I specifically chose for you. Do you like it?"

"I love it." Yvonne naturally felt happy to receive a gift. "Thanks!"

The swimming ring had a great texture.

There was an exaggerated bow hanging from it, which perfectly matched the aesthetic of a six-year-old boy.

Yvonne and Joseph entered the same hot spring pool, while Elijah went to the one opposite them.

Enjoying a hot spring in the middle of winter was truly the ultimate sensory pleasure!

Yvonne silently appreciated Joseph. Luckily, he caused a ruckus; otherwise, she wouldn't have had this blessing right now!

Although it was Saturday, Elijah was constantly on the phone.

Yvonne vaguely heard him talking to his employees from the law firm and the Harper Group, and found Elijah's work and life truly exhausting.

With Joseph around, the two of them didn't interact much and only exchanged a few casual words.

At noon, Elijah ordered an exquisite meal for the three of them.

Joseph spent too long in the water and felt tired, so he went to bed after eating.

Elijah opened his computer and got busy. Yvonne had eaten too much and felt like her waistline had expanded by an inch. To help with digestion, she wandered upstairs and downstairs.

"Since you're free, why not help me?" Elijah called her over.

"What can I help with?" She walked into Elijah's bedroom.

Elijah was sitting at a desk piled with documents.

"You're so dedicated," she sincerely admired. "You work so hard even when you're out playing."

"How are your Norwegian skills? Is it as good as your Spanish?" Elijah pulled an empty chair next to him, indicating for her to sit down.

"Much stronger than my Spanish." Yvonne tightened her robe and sat proudly beside Elijah. "Do you need me for interpretation or transcription?"

"Translate these documents as quickly as possible." Elijah pointed at the computer screen, his gaze deepening.

Yvonne moved Elijah's computer.

She pulled herself together and opened the document, immediately entering work mode. Her fingers danced swiftly, and the letters on the screen flashed nonstop. The speed of her typing and the standard formatting of the translation made Elijah glance at her a few more times involuntarily.

"Let's see how this paragraph looks first. If there are no issues, I'll continue translating based on this standard." Yvonne suddenly turned her gaze, and her eyes coincidentally met Elijah's.

Elijah's Adam's apple moved inexplicably, and his gaze instantly became intense.

"What's the matter? Are you getting carried away?" She understood his thoughts and exposed him with a laugh.

Elijah pulled her onto his long legs and chuckled deeply. "You've been teasing me for so long, don't you feel tired?"
