Evander took me to his place after we saw the girls off. We were both irritable, but I'd never felt the energy coming off him now. Worry, panic, fear, foreboding. Leached off his aura like a nuclear sun. “Evander, what's wrong?” I asked. He slumped into the seat at the table, fingers trailing through his hair. "You mean besides the fact that she's not right here with me?" He pouted. "Well, it wasn't exactly my idea to send my pregnant mate to town, either." I admonished. "There's more to this than I realized. She told me some of it last night. You and I need to talk to the elders. They know the wolf's side and you know the witch's side. I get why you were concerned about the soul bond. Now, just know I don't think either of us expected it. Nature just happened and here we are. And now I have to worry about Dom and his antics holding up his end. Goddess, I can’t lose her," he groaned.

Hearing him say the last words brought me some peace. After all, my sister had been through in her young life and what I’d put her through after our parents' deaths. She deserves someone who realizes her worth, and who cherishes her for the woman she has become and not just the abilities bestowed on her. “I can’t lose her again either.” I added meeting his eyes. “Well Alpha,” it is now time I school you in all things that are “The Dove,”... “That's what we called her when things got hairy or peculiar with all the things that are her,” I let out a heavy sigh. “Things may get worse before they get better. She told me the power is building, which means we need to watch her for headaches. Watch for her to drown herself in tea. She will not tell you it is coming, but a fever is imminent. It's ugly and scary and I will not sugarcoat it because we get her through it or it's her life." What do you mean by 'it's' building? What do you mean by a fever? She's going to get sick?" He fretted and, I sighed. Evander was feeling overwhelmed, and I was about to overload his plate.

"Evander, the more the power grows, the more her body and mind need to adjust to house it. Look at it like a virus when something new enters the body. Your immune system attacks it. The telekinesis with the water images the healing of your leg and the vision chasing. None of those things are typical for her to do. Whenever she starts experiencing new abilities or testing the limits of her powers, she eventually falls into a fever. When she pulls more foreign, energy in her body essentially has to make up more antidotes to be able to contain it. The more immense the power, the longer the fever. Right now she is not showing signs, but when she starts to unravel, we will have to act quickly." I told him. “Is there anything we can do to stop it?" he asked. "We've never been able to find a way. Aurora is the only of her kind to ever exist, that we know of. She doesn't come with a manual. And she may seem coy and quiet in demeanor now, but I'm going to tell you now she's not as submissive as she leads outsiders to believe. It's an act, she's no pushover. I've never seen either of you in a relationship, but know when it comes to what she thinks is right, she won't back down. She will stand up and challenge you every step of the way and put you in your place." Evander's eyes met mine. "Are you really giving me this talk? Do you think I mind that she's not some underling going to comply with all my needs and desires? Diablo… Blake, I honestly look forward to her putting me in my place. Might be a strange kink for an Alpha, but as long as she's with me, I'm happy.” My face screwed up at his mention of a kink. The idea he would probably challenge her wrath, just to get off a little, had me shaking my head.

"Anyway, we have other problems," he went on. "She's already experiencing awakening abilities. Her sense of taste and scent is growing. Seeing as I haven't marked her, it shouldn't be possible, but I think her abilities are just one part of her specialness. When we are born, we are assigned our wolves. When we turn our mates, they don't typically get theirs until they are bitten as you experienced and they won't change fully before the full moon, and that's when they can return the mark. I think her wolf has already been chosen. I need to confirm with the elders if they know anything about that and you need to come with me because her powers and this bonding could affect more than just her and I. Blake, this could affect the entire pack. So, we have to see what counsel they can give us and since I am far from an expert on witch things as she's described what we have unintentionally done has the possibility of her power leaching into me or even the pack if those bonds are fully formed. I know you want to protect her, but we are going to have to come clean to them if we are going to find out what we need to know. Aurora tells me you've got a knack for adjusting rituals." I smirked a little thinking back to all the trouble that I got into manipulating and tweaking things for various impish jokes and pranks. "I may have a thing or two up my sleeve," I said. "Well, that brain of yours may be the only thing that binds this mating as our goddesses intended." And there it was, the weight of our little world here and my sister and best friend's happiness on my shoulders.

"Go ahead, gather them. I will return in a few minutes. There are some things from the house I need to get." I said cryptically
