Evander
I begrudgingly left the embrace before I shifted letting out a howl that echoed through the valley. She shifted beside me repeating the call to our people in a long eerie note. Blake’s call answered and through her, I felt the paws beating on the ground as she reached out. They thundered through underbrush and trees and as we descended the ancient stone where we had united. One by one they filtered through the trees various shades of brown and grey Millie’s tawny wolf standing out. Postures low in submission they greeted my mate and I before engaging in rubbing cheeks in a show of affection and licking faces. Pride swelled in my chest. Elijah and Evan dutifully escorted the large muscled salt and pepper wolf of Dominic. He was rightfully cautious as he remained on the outskirts of those greeting their luna. He answered to me surly but this wasn’t his pack.
The itch under my skin grew, feeling the pack’s urge to hunt. I let out a long bellowing note of a howl, yips answering and we were off. Dashing through trees and undergrowth Aurora’s white fur gleaming with the light of the moon shining off it at my shoulder her wolf was slighter and more delicate, her legs nimble and swift as she cut through the forest. Picking up the scent of a doe I paused letting out a call to alert the chase was on. The pack moved as one organism the doe now alerted began to move the musk of her fear had paws bounding forward with the coursing effort. We arched wide and cut the doe off in a clearing. I pounced claw and teeth sinking into her hind quarters Aurora taking her out at the throat. The pack descended and through Aurora’s ability, I could feel the energy of the animal’s soul lift from its body and be absorbed into the surrounding world. Aurora sat back and I began to lick the blood and gore from her muzzle. The bond between us was content fulfilled and both souls united together burning brightly in the essence of our minds.
Aurora
As dawn broke we came back to where I had shifted collecting the scraps of tattered silver cloth and the heirloom broaches that had held the bits of cloth together left scattered across the earth as I shifted. Evander and I strode through the trees naked absorbed in the amicable silence of our inner peace. We didn’t make it to the back steps of the cabin till well after noon and we spent the day dozing before wandering off to the hot springs to rid ourselves of the dirt we had picked up overnight,
As we ate with the pack that evening.I allowed myself to relish in the peace of today for tomorrow all the preparations and reorganization of things would begin as we prepared for the purpose, to redeem those wronged. To seek justice and closure for the souls beyond our valley. Our pack would be the course of change among the wolves and I would find the amber-eyed woman and I will stand against her abusers, to aid her in healing the brokenness of her soul. This pack would be their sanctuary to heal and rebuild themselves. I was no longer the broken lonely girl I was a witch, a wolf, a Luna, and a goddess. These were my people and nothing would touch them, council be damned I would be the vengeance upon them they so rightfully deserved. I was at peace with my purpose: the hard road ahead layered with the grit I would need to bear in order to stand up to the Alphas of the western United States. In order to seal their fates as they selfishly and thoughtlessly destroyed the people they were meant to protect. Tomorrow I will become their warrior.
