Chapter 19.1 – Morning fun – part 2
As Nick was looking at her with surprise, a grimace of disgust formed on his lips, and Aniya gulped down and burst into laughter. “Ahahah! The look on your face is priceless! Next time, you either hold on for a little while longer, or I might bite the tip off for you to learn! I barely started! What was that?”
“You… were amazing… and... I was having a lot of trouble with all your teasing lately. I told you, I haven’t been with many women because I was always on the move, trying to survive for as long as possible while searching for you.”
Hearing that, Aniya slowly got up, let the water clean her mouth, chin, neck, and chest while placing her arms on his shoulders, and spoke as she intertwined the fingers behind his head, “Searching for me? How come?”
“I wanted to feel the bond my parents had, at least once, before I was killed. They always seemed so happy when the light enveloped them... I wanted that for me…”
Aniya glanced at the light that was surrounding them and said, as her lips approached his, “Well, I would say you found me, and we also have a pretty light. Considering we are gathering more Werewolves near us in case we ever face any danger, I would say all your efforts worked. Not bad, my dear Nick, not bad at all.”
Aniya kissed him, as the warm water kept on washing them both, removing the last bit of dry blood and dust from their hair and bodies.
…
When Nick and Aniya left the bathroom, all dressed up and holding hands, Nick signalled with his head to Jack, who was leaning against the door frame of Aniya’s room while she looked away so that she didn’t see his nudity and embarrass him.
When they reached downstairs, Lisa was having tea with Anna, who was wrapped up in a towel, with her back to the entrance of the kitchen.
Aniya put her hands over Anna’s shoulders and whispered in her ear, “Jack went to the shower. Maybe you should go meet him and get rid of all your sexual frustration. If you need them, I have a pack of condoms in the drawer of my bedside table in the room where there is the secret entrance. Take three or five, or as many as you want, and go have some fun. You deserve it.”
Anna turned bright red and left the kitchen in a hurry, going straight for the stairs. Nick asked, a bit puzzled, “What was all that about? She left as if her butt was on fire.”
Aniya winked at Lisa, who spurted the tea as she laughed, “Ahahah! I bet it’s not her butt that is on fire! I don’t know about you guys, but after the change, I was extremely aroused! I had a nice shower, and I had an imaginary man with me in there. I like having a shower with my imagination, but this time it was as if he was really there with me! It was fun, but at the same time, really weird!”
Nick grabbed the teapot and poured some for Aniya and him, then went to the stove to prepare breakfast for everyone. “Yes, I also noticed that yesterday. I don’t know if it was because of the change or the adrenalin from the run. Or because I was finally in control of my body and it felt really good.”
Aniya spoke with a grin while she was staring at Lisa. “I bet I know who your imaginary man is. You didn’t give up on him? How many years has it been already?”
“Since I was ten, I guess? So, twelve, almost thirteen years. As the years go by, he gets cooler and cooler, and it’s driving me mad that he barely acknowledges me after all these years! I don’t know what else I can do to get a reaction from him!”
Aniya took a sip of her tea as she was saying, “Davis is kind of difficult to understand. He has been by my side ever since I was six, but I barely know the guy. Every time I ask some personal questions, he avoids the subject. I don’t know if he is married or not, or if he likes women!”
Lisa trembled, “That… is not possible… Or it could be... Except for him, I have never had a problem getting a man’s attention! I normally attract men my age or younger than me, and you know I don’t have the patience to deal with immature brats. Davis’ seriousness and silent character are very sexy and drives me mad when he speaks without even looking at me!”
Lisa put her forehead over the table and sighed, “Sometimes I think he hates me or sees me only as an annoying brat, and I don’t like that.”
Aniya tapped her hand and made a gentle smile. “You need to meet other people and forget about him, then. If after all these years you didn’t get his attention, either he is not interested at all, or he already has someone he likes, and you are wasting your time.”
“Shut up, you brat… Don’t end my dream like that…”
Lisa suddenly raised her head and wide opened her eyes to Aniya. “No way… Did you just go kind suddenly? Where is my bratish Aniya, the one that would mock me for even saying these things, or being sad? Who are you and what did you do to my Aniya?”
“I don’t think I changed! I would never make fun of you for... Oh! Yeah, I would… Every single time you talked like this about Davis, I would slap your head and make fun of you… What the...”
Nick brought a dish with scrambled eggs and toast and spoke as he sat next to Aniya. “Probably because of our bond. You have become kinder now and more empathic. A Luna has to be able to understand the pack members, and you couldn’t do that if you behaved like we first met, by looking down on people from your high pedestal.”
“I still do that when I meet stupid or annoying people, you know? Speaking of meeting people, I am supposed to meet my father’s friends today. I think I will drop Anna at my company and see where he wants me to go.”
“I am going with you.”
Aniya looked at Nick, surprise plastered on her face, “Are you nuts? Go with me for what? Who knows if they have your photo or not? No, you will stay here and-“
“I won’t do such a thing. I won’t stay here while you go meet a bunch of Hunters. I don’t need to be right at your side, but I want to be at a distance where I can see you and help if needed.”
Aniya was about to say something, but Nick interrupted her with a frown and an icy voice, “I wasn’t asking for authorization, Aniya. I either go with you and stay at a distance, or you won’t go at all.”
“And who told you that you could boss me around? Did you pour something weird in your tea or what?”
“Ok, then I will go to your house and introduce myself as your Werewolf boyfriend.”
Aniya stuttered, “Y-You w-wouldn’t dare…”
“Try me. There is no way I am going to let you go all alone with no kind of backup. I won’t risk losing you after finally finding you!”
Aniya was about to argue, but seeing so much sadness in his eyes made her stare at her tea and slowly nod. “At least promise me you won’t do something foolish. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself, and no one suspects me.”
Nick held her hands and spoke in a soft tone, “I just want to be sure you are safe, Aniya. As for no one suspecting you, it’s better if you reconsider that. After your last change, I can perfectly smell your Werewolf blood, and another Werewolf you might meet will be able to as well.”
“What? You mean… Oh, shoot, I wasn’t counting on that! Suppose they really have a Werewolf working for them? Yeah, I need to be more careful. If you are indeed going to follow me, it is probably better if you go to my secret room and pick up a gun from there. You know how to shoot, I hope?”
“Yes, I know. I had a gun in my old house, but left it there when I fled from the Hunters that went after me.”
Lisa was in silence the entire time, and she spoke while taking a bite of the toast, “You know, I could go with you. I am now immune to the wolf’s bane, and your father wouldn’t even find it strange to see me with you, considering that we were always together, and we never had any secrets between us. You could say that you trust me more than any Hunter out there that you have never met.”
“Are you out of your mind? They suspect you! Remember that file? They won’t ever trust you or even let you get close to any of them!”
Lisa shrugged. “If you think for a minute, you will see that I am the obvious choice to back you up. I won’t have any problems taking your father’s head if he stands by the Hunters instead of you, if they suspect what you are. I never liked him anyway, so…”
Aniya blinked while looking at her friend, who was calmly drinking tea, and as she was turning to Nick, she saw him nod. “She has a point, you know? And as a Delta, she is kind of supposed to protect you because that’s what Deltas and Omegas do. They protect the leaders and the pack.”
“You are both out of your mind! How will I be able to convince my father to let her join if the Hunters never had any women doing fieldwork, and for centuries, women have been merely administratives, doing all the paperwork for the Hunters they are assigned? It seems I am the first who wants to do fieldwork, but I don’t see how-“
Lisa interrupted while peacefully taking a sip of her tea, “I can be your administrative assistant then.”
Aniya blinked and went silent for a couple of seconds before grabbing a toast and pointing it at the smiling woman, “I have no idea how the administratives are chosen, if they must belong to a Hunter’s family or if they could be someone trustworthy, but I guess I can try to find out. If, and only if, you keep your mouth shut and try to be serious, because those guys might not appreciate your sarcasm.”
“What sarcasm? I just want to put a wolf’s bane on my hair when we go meet them, and ask how in the world anyone could suspect the innocent me of being a scary, flesh-eating Werewolf! I am entitled to ask, you know? I want to see proof of such a lie! How dare they damage my reputation like that? Me, the cute and innocent Lisa McCarty? Imagine if my father heard that and made some sort of a front page in his several newspapers, spread all over the country? Can you imagine the questions everyone would ask or how everyone would want to know more about some secret society called the Hunters? Huge scandal, huge!”
Aniya opened her mouth to say something, unable to refute her friend. Even if Lisa was saying all that with a smile, Aniya could perfectly see the way she was clenching the toast she was holding, and how her eyes looked angry. Lisa was always fooling around, but Aniya knew her. She could be scary when she got angry, and at that moment, Lisa looked really pissed. Aniya agreed, because she knew it would be impossible to persuade the angry redhead not to go.
Nick gulped down the last bit of his toast and asked, “What about if you took care of calling a taxi or an Uber for us? I think that by the time the car gets here, Anna and Jack will have already had their breakfast.”
Aniya winked at Lisa as she was answering, “Oh, I don’t think they will come for breakfast so soon. Anna was dirtier than us and in dire need of a good scrub.”
Lisa spit out her tea as she laughed, puzzling Nick with their reaction, smirking at each other.
