Chapter 33.2 - Trap in the forest – part 3

Nick reacted the moment he saw Aniya’s blue eyes. Three shots to the heads of the men seated at the table with him took them down.
Violet kicked the porch’s floor hard to increase the speed of her movement and turned to point her gun at Aniya’s back, only to get her hand sliced by the elbow by Lisa’s light-speed reflexes.
As the assault rifle fell to the floor with Violet’s hand still holding it, Lisa stuck her sword on the wooden porch, covered Violet’s mouth with her hand, and dragged her inside at the same time the Werewolves outside attacked, following a shout from Adrian Gordon that was among them. Growls followed by gunshots resonated everywhere, but there was a more urgent problem inside the log cabin.

Aniya looked around and asked Nick, “Where is that bastard, that Adrian guy?”

“In the woods with his pack. He left as soon as we heard your group arriving. He wanted to have a better seat to enjoy the show.”

“Nick, he can’t escape! Do what you have to do, but you must catch him!”

With a quick nod, Nick ran to the back door. As he left, Aniya turned her attention to Violet, who was kneeling on the floor with her amputated arm against her stomach and Lisa, who was still covering her mouth and preventing her from screaming.

Lisa explained to the inquiring look on Aniya’s face, “This cuntwaffle tried to shoot you in the back! What is wrong with her, anyway? Is she on their side? For real?”

Aniya looked at her childhood friend and said with a trembling voice, “They probably convinced her that Werewolves are evil and can’t exist. I don’t know, maybe they brainwashed her? We need to take her out of here. She can be with us, away from those crazy bastards!”

Violet vigorously shook her head, and Lisa let her go. Violet looked at Aniya and shouted, spitting her anger towards her once friend, “I will never join you, you monster! You are like all the others. You don’t deserve to live! I will kill both of you, you filthy monsters! I have my orders from someone higher than you or your father, and I always follow my orders!”

Aniya had her eyes full of tears and shouted, “You are my friend, Violet! Don’t say that! You are breaking my heart!”

“The moment I heal, I will take your beating heart from your chest and squash it, you monster! I won’t rest until you are dead! I will kill every monster like you!”

Violet jumped towards Aniya, holding a knife she took from inside her boot, but before she could even touch her, Lisa shot Violet’s head, splashing her brains on the floor. Lisa then grabbed Aniya’s shoulders and shook her. “Snap out of it, Aniya! We need you! I need you! Luna!”

Aniya was frozen, staring at the pool of blood on the floor and noticing how Violet’s brains looked so pink. Lisa’s shout took her out of her torpor, and Aniya began to shine. She lost control of her light, and it was as if a sun was inside the cabin. The light distracted the Werewolves that were outside, making them look at the log cabin while Adrian Gordon was in his Werewolf form, growling at them to continue the attack on the Hunters.
While they were still deciding if they should obey their Alpha or gather around the cabin, attracted by the light, an enormous group of Hunters appeared from the woods and surrounded them.
The Hunters were all well-trained and used to fighting Werewolves. While one Hunter shot a Werewolf, two others would jump on him with daggers aimed at his heart or a sword to his head. One after the other, the Werewolves died, unable to follow their Alpha’s growls because of the noise around them and the distracting light.
Then, an angry scream came from the cabin, followed by Lisa shouting at the Hunters near Dan Rossi who were in front of the cabin to move away. Aniya ran past them, shotgun in one hand, a sword in the other, followed closely behind by Lisa, who was doing her best to match her insane speed.
On Aniya’s path, Werewolves heads were falling and Hunters were sent flying to the sides as she pushed them, because, from the cabin, she saw a dark Werewolf at the edge of the woods, fighting against two others, trying to reach a taller grey Werewolf that kept on growling left and right, calling for reinforcements while backing away. Davis was protecting Nick from his hideout ever since he saw him changing at the back of the house, but he could not shoot the Werewolves that were so close to him.
Aniya tackled down one Werewolf that was biting Nick’s left arm while Lisa sliced the head of another that was ripping Nick’s back. When he got free, Nick jumped to get to Adrian Gordon, who avoided him at the last minute and ran into the woods, using his claws to slice in two every Hunter on his path.

Aniya shouted as she was piercing the heart of the Werewolf under her with her sword, “Go after him, you bloody idiot! Now!”

Nick glanced at her, making sure she was alright and jumped over the jeep that arrived with four Hunters trying to shoot him and being killed by Davis with his faithful sniper rifle.
Near the cabin, Dan Rossi was shooting every Werewolf that got near, and the Hunters near him beheaded them. Every time he found an opening, he would look at Aniya and Lisa, and frown at their unbelievable speed and reflexes that made them avoid every Werewolf attack and kill them while going to their next target.
Dan clenched his teeth. He saw the light inside the cabin, and Aniya was right in the middle of it when he looked back, trying to find out why all the Werewolves suddenly stopped and were looking at the cabin.
In the next second, Dan saw Aniya running past him, and like a bulldozer, she killed every Werewolf in her path as she was going straight to a dark Werewolf that was fighting two other Werewolves near the edge of the woods. Surprisingly, instead of attacking him, she seemed to protect him, and she shouted something that Dan couldn’t hear because of all the noise around, but the dark Werewolf nodded at her, and ran after a big grey Werewolf, that seemed to be the one ordering the other Werewolves.
Dan shot another Werewolf and reloaded his shotgun as he was looking at Aniya and Lisa, who were fighting against another Werewolf. Both of them were covered in wounds and blood but still killed him, going to the next Werewolf without even slowing down.
As for Nick, he was following the trail of smashed bushes and broken trees that Adrian had destroyed on his escape.
Then, in a clearing, Nick saw three female Werewolves growling at him, while the grey Werewolf was behind them, looking at Nick and making a grimace with his big mouth as if he was smiling.
Adrian lost his smile immediately, as Nick charged forward as if the females weren’t even there. They jumped on him, and while one was biting his right shoulder, the other was on his back and scratching his chest nonstop, which kept on healing just for her to scratch again. The third female was clutched on Nick’s right leg, munching on his thigh and taking out big chunks of flesh that she swallowed. Even with all the wounds and loss of blood, Nick grabbed Adrian’s snout with his claws and ripped it off.
As the big grey Werewolf was falling to the ground, holding his snout that was held in place just by a small amount of fur, Nick pierced the eyes of the female that was biting his shoulder.
Another slash with his claws and he decapitated the female on his back, and with a powerful punch, the third female had her skull open, splitting brains and bones all over the now blind female. He then grabbed the only female still alive and smashed her head with both hands, as Adrian was looking at him in horror, waiting for his snout to heal so that the pain would stop and he could flee. Nick approached him and clenched his claws.

Suddenly, he heard a voice inside his head, “|… You are strong, Nick, but I didn’t tell you everything. I am in full control of my body while you are just a mindless beast. You caught me by surprise, but in two seconds, you will regret betraying me. ...|“

Nick answered with his mind, and Adrian wide opened his eyes in shock, “|… You are not the only one in control of your beast body, Adrian. I was dangerous as a Human, but in this form, you are no match for me. ...|“

In a split second, Nick jumped forward and grabbed Adrian’s head with both hands, and as his thumb claws were piercing Adrian’s eyes, Nick’s voice resonated inside his victim’s head, “|… Aniya told me to get rid of you, and you know what they say, always obey your woman. Scream, you bastard! I want to hear you scream as I squash your head as the rat you are. ...|“

Nick heard a scream inside his head, but that diminished as Adrian’s skull turned into an odd shape as Nick kept on pushing both hands against the sides. It finally broke with a cracking sound, and Adrian’s brain came out in gushes of pink from his ears, eyes, and cracks in his skull. Nick kept on pressing until his fingers intertwined, and he then let go, growling as he watched Adrian’s lifeless body fall onto the floor.
Nick cleaned his paws on the grass nearby, as he watched the four dead Werewolves disappear into dust, becoming dead Human bodies.
Nick sniffed the air, and he could only sense Werewolves some metres behind him, the ones that were still alive and fighting the Hunters. He hesitated for one second, reflecting on whether it would be better if he fled or returned to Aniya, but he was too worried to leave without checking on her.
With a quick turn, he ran on his fours to join the fight.
In minutes, Nick was jumping from the middle of the woods, straight at two Werewolves that were approaching a wounded Hunter. With two downward slashes with his claws as he landed, Nick split the Werewolves in two. The Hunter stared at the large dark Werewolf in front of him as four dark brown Werewolf pieces fell to the ground. Nick nodded at him and looked around, trying to find Aniya.
He saw her and Lisa near Dan Rossi, both of them with a sword in their hands, their bodies in a crouched position, looking at three Werewolves that were in front of them. The Hunters that were with Dan were spending their last ammunition on the Werewolves, but they kept on slowly approaching, as if they were enjoying scaring them. Nick raised his head and made such a loud growl that everyone stopped and looked at him. He growled again while pointing at the Werewolves that were near Aniya, and he then pointed to a space in front of him.
Unable to resist the orders of an Alpha, the surviving Werewolves near Aniya and the ones still fighting the Hunters ran to him and stopped in a group where he told them to be. To the surprise of all the Hunters watching, Nick growled again, and the Werewolves curled on the ground, unable to move a single muscle or raise their heads to face him.
He approached the wounded Hunter that was at his left, and pointed at the sword he was still holding, the only protection he was using against the two Werewolves that were attacking him. Nick signalled the Hunter to give him the sword, which he immediately did. As soon as Nick grabbed the sword, he threw it against one of the surviving Werewolves, straight at his head.
The other Werewolves looked at Nick as if they didn’t understand what was happening, or the reason for their new Alpha to kill another Werewolf. Nick jumped to retrieve the sword and used it to kill the other two Werewolves that were threatening Aniya when he arrived. As their blood was making a pool on the ground, Nick returned to the Hunter and delivered the sword again, the hilt pointed at the dumbfounded Hunter.
As the Hunter was grabbing the sword with trembling hands, Aniya was running to approach the group of Werewolves, with Lisa right at her side. They made a wide turn so that they weren’t too close to the Werewolves that were looking down, and they stopped three metres from Nick.
