Chapter 40.1 – Two months later – part 2

Aniya shone because her anger made her lose control, but she forced herself to calm down and continued after her light disappeared.

“An amazing evolutionary leap that granted Werewolves the ability to control their bodies after so many years. An evolution that makes them almost impossible to kill, and even in their Human form, they are stronger and faster than normal Humans. A Werewolf firefighter can smell people trapped inside a burning building and reach them with mere strength and will. A police officer who won’t die even after being shot at close range by a criminal with a machine gun. Humans who heal fast from the most unimaginable wounds, immune to poisons and diseases, and can endure extreme pain. This is what you all failed to see. Or, you know all this, and you fear losing the power that all these millennia have granted you. For all that, I say no more.”

A middle-aged man spoke from the screen at the top. “Even if by a slim shot you manage to kill every Hunter, the public will turn against you the moment they find out Werewolves are living in hiding. Monsters that appear on full moons and only know how to kill and eat their victims? They will all be hunted down and slaughtered. We will win in the end!”

“You are either dumb or you are deaf. There are few mindless Werewolves, and there will be even fewer as they are taught how to change at will and what they need to do to control their bodies. There is also one thing that most Hunters are not aware of. Being a Werewolf doubles our lifetime. I met my great-grandmother last month, and she looked as if she was forty years old, instead of one hundred and ten. There is also a pack of Werewolves making experiments with Werewolf’s blood to understand how we all have such an amazing healing ability, and they are already testing several blood products to help normal Humans heal from injuries. Not to mention health enhancements, vitamins, and steroids to help treat diseases. A new era is coming, and none of you will be here to see it, because you will all be dead.”

The bald man grinned. “We will see who will have the last laugh.”

Aniya slowly shook her head. “Stupid, you don’t know how to admit defeat. I am bored with this conversation. Werewolves, you all have your orders! Extract the names of the Hunters still alive, and kill them all.”

Aniya returned to the table and looked at the three Council members. “Turn that off. Now, I want the names and locations of the Hunters still alive. I want a pretty file with all that, and maybe I won’t kill you right now.”

Blake Garvin shouted in anger. “We will never talk! That is against our sacred code!”

“Really? The same code that caused the death of my friend Emma when you sent your goons to kill me? A sweet young woman who never once did any harm to anyone? The same code that made my partner see his entire community, babies included, killed in the middle of the night? The same code that allowed a group of Hunters to kidnap an old lady from her house and beat her old husband to death? That code? Let me show you what I think about your code.”

Aniya nodded to Lisa, and she immediately jumped over the table. She grabbed Blake’s head with her big clawed hands and squeezed. As he was screaming, Aniya was staring at him, watching his suffering. “This is for Violet.”

A muffled cracking sound announced the split of his skull, and with the continuous pressure, pink liquid and mushy brain pieces spurted from the cracks on Blake’s head, ears, and eyes after they popped out. Lisa kept on squeezing until her fingers intertwined, and she then let go of the lifeless body that fell on the floor at her feet.

Aniya then faced Anthony Nolan and warned him. “I don’t actually need your help to find those names, but I am giving you a chance to walk out of this unarmed. Give me the list or face the consequences.”

“No, I will never hand over my Hunters!”

Aniya nodded, and Davis slashed Anthony’s head in two with a powerful downward slash. Aniya watched as his body fell over the table and said, “This is for Emma. You are the last, Jake Kinnerk. What do you want to do? If you do what I say, I won’t kill you. If not… well...”

As soon as the last Council member saw Davis approaching him, he shouted, “Wait! I will give you the list! I can access the system from my phone, and I will send you everything!”

“That is so nice of you. Send it to my email. You know my email, right? Considering you guys were always checking on me.”

“Yes, I can do that! Just give me one minute!”

Jake Kinnerk quickly took his phone from his jacket, and after messing with it with his trembling hands, he showed the screen to Aniya. “Here! I sent you everything in here!”

Aniya checked the list, nodded, and got up, going towards the exit. Before crossing the frame, she looked back and said, “And this is for my father, whom you corrupted.”

When Davis grabbed Jake by his hair and pulled him up, he shouted, “No! You said you would not kill me!”

Aniya shrugged. “I will not kill you. As for him, I don’t know.”

Aniya left for the corridor, and Davis twisted Jake Kinnerk’s head to his back until his neck cracked, then let him go over the table and went to the corridor to join the others.

They all walked to the elevators again, and Aniya sighed. “So many unnecessary deaths. This place stinks. Let’s gather our pack and leave. Davis, when everyone is out, turn on the fire alarm to evacuate everyone. Then set the bombs that our pack spread during the swiping of the floors. I want this building turned into a burning hell in fifteen minutes so that we can erase the proof of our involvement.”

Davis gave a low growl. That was the last step of Aniya’s plan. Tell the people that were working as minor staff to not say anything outside, place bombs made of gasoline on all floors, kill the Hunters, and evacuate everyone. In the end, burn the building completely.
When they reached the main lobby, Aniya and her group joined the Werewolves there, who were changing and retrieving their clothes from the reception counter. They left, and Davis went to the counter to activate the fire alarm.

The receptionist and the security man still there ran to the exit, and Davis mumbled as he pressed the alarm. “The first part of the plan finished. I hope Aniya is right about the second part.”

Davis pressed the alarm and waited. People came from the stairs in a never-ending horde and went to the exit, not even bothering to look at the reception. They all wanted to get away from there as fast as possible because the Humans that were with the Werewolves told them what was going to happen in the end.
Davis looked at the several security cameras that were hidden under the counter, making sure that no one was left behind. He sighed again, and went to the exit after clicking two times on the remote that he had in the pocket of his tracksuit, and joined Aniya on the other side of the street. As soon as he got near her, the bombs exploded in sequence, two seconds apart from each floor. Flames appeared from the broken windows, and in a matter of minutes, the entire building was a living hell.
The vans with the group of firefighters and police officers left, and the only cars that remained were the ones blocking the street, stopping anyone from approaching the burning building.

Nick raised his fist and shouted, “Everyone, thank you for a job well done! You know what to do! Go home! Disappear in the crowd! I will call you for the next mission!”

Voices in unison answered, “Yes, my Alpha!”, and they dispersed. Nick faced Aniya and asked, “Did you get what you want?”

“Yes, the last one sent the file to me. I hope the packs in other countries have as much success as we did.”

“I am sure they had, Aniya, don’t worry. You and the other Lunas thought about all the possible outcomes for several hours. What’s next? Phase two?”

“Yeah. In three hours, the press conference will start, and I want to take a bath first and change clothes. Maybe even grab a snack.”

Noticing Nick’s grin, Aniya frowned. “Bath, clothes, eat. You know the plan, don’t you ruin it with some weird idea!”

“You can’t blame a guy for trying, Aniya. I bet every Alpha out there is thinking the same as me.”

“Probably, and they are getting their ass kicked by their Luna. You want to get a beating as well?”

Nick approached Aniya and spoke with a grin. “Careful, blondie, or I am going to slap your butt again. It seems you have already forgotten your last punishment. Wasn’t it enough that you couldn’t sit properly for a week? Alright, I will make sure to give you two weeks, next.”

“You wouldn’t dare!”

“Try me, you annoying brat. Just try me! I will slap you so much and so hard that you will scream in pleasure while begging me to stop.”

Aniya gulped and turned bright red when she heard Lisa coughing, shocked by her muffled laughter. Aniya clenched her teeth and spoke, visibly angry. “I told you last time, what happens in the bedroom stays in the bedroom…”

“I also told you, bully me, and I will bully you.”

“Argh! You are so annoying! If I didn’t love you so much, I would turn you into a pulp right now!”

“No, you wouldn’t. You would just kiss me and say you love me forever. But we don’t have time for that. We have too many things to do. Let’s go, blondie, you have work waiting for you, remember?”

Aniya rolled her eyes and glanced at her smiling redhead friend. “Do you hear him? Now it’s my fault!”

“Yeah, it is nice to see you so in love, Aniya. You used to get angry and you would kick a guy as soon as he did or said something that annoyed you. Finding Nick sure did wonders for your bratish character!”

“Hey! I never had a… Oh… yeah… Maybe a little. I used to be mean to people…”

Anna Kent pretended to be sad. “Yes, you were, Miss Aniya… I still have nightmares from all the bullying you did to me. Every time you made me study or work extra hours, every time you yelled at me... such painful memories…”

Aniya opened her mouth in surprise, and Anna made a big smile. “You are still the best boss I ever had, Miss Aniya!”

“I am not even sure if you are complimenting me or mocking me, because we both know I am the first boss you ever had!”

“I won’t confirm or deny anything that might get me in trouble! See you in three hours, Miss Aniya! I will go to the company as soon as I take a bath, and I will check everything before your arrival!”

Anna Kent ran away before Aniya could say anything, holding hands with Jack Holland. Lisa and Meredith waved at Aniya with their partners escorting them, and they also left, leaving behind Aniya, still wondering if she was mocked or not.

Nick poked her frowning head and, while smiling, he said, “You will get some ugly wrinkles if you keep on frowning. Let’s go, I am rather hungry. Changing always opens my appetite.”

Aniya held his arm and went in search of a taxi, still pissed by all the mockery. She took one last look at the burning building and mimicked Nick during his talk in the morning. “It will be easy, he said, we go in and get out, he said… bloody idiot…”

“You said something, you brat? I thought I heard you asking for a slap in the butt!”

“You heard nothing. It was your imagination!”

“Okay… I am watching you, blondie!”
