Katherine's eyes were watering, and her cheeks and face were both wet from the tears that were running down her face.
While he was as lost in the recollection of the past as she was, he commented on how foolish the two of them had been. "We placed the blame for your passing on each other, and we were so foolish... Please pay attention, Katherine. It was my fault; I was the one who initiated the conflict in the first place. Since then, I have felt regret, and you have no idea how much I have regretted my actions. You have no idea how often I've given it some thought and wished there was something I could do to make a difference in the situation. I would have done anything in the world to go back in time and change it. I was the one who killed my brother..." His words were stuttering, and he could be seen wiping tears from his eyes. Elizabeth, whose heart was breaking from her loss, turned to Dominic in a helpless manner and saw that he wasn't even aware that she was there. His eyes were now staring at Katherine with an expression of utter concentration and rapt attention; the amused expression had vanished.

Katherine struggled to regain control of his voice before asking Katherine to please listen to what he had to say. "We have all caused one another more than enough pain. Please let us leave right away. Or, if you prefer, you can keep me, but you should let them go. I am the one who is to blame for this situation. If you keep me, I'll do anything you want me to do..."

The jewel-like eyes of Katherine were a liquidy, impossible-to-be-blue, and they were filled with an infinite grief. Elizabeth couldn't bring herself to breathe for fear of shattering the enchantment as the thin girl drew closer to Katherine with a longing look on her face. She didn't dare to breathe.

But suddenly the ice that was contained inside Katherine began to creep out, and it froze the tears that were on her cheeks. She advised him, "You really need to have considered it a very long time ago." "There's a chance I might have listened to you back then. I'm sorry that you both ended up killing each other in the beginning. I left Gudren behind and made a hasty retreat back to my house. But after that, I was left with nothing—not even a new dress—and I was starving and shivering in the cold. If Klaus hadn't come upon me, I could have perished from hunger."

Klaus. Elizabeth then recalled something that Katherine had said to her, much to her dismay. The townspeople pointed the finger of suspicion at Klaus since he was the one who had turned Katherine into a vampire.

Katherine said, "Klaus is the one who enlightened me to the truth." "He illuminated for me the truth of the world. You have to muster all of your might and seize the opportunities presented to you. You can't consider anybody except yourself at this point. And at this point, I am the most powerful of them all. I am. Do you know how I came to be like this?"
She responded to the inquiry without even waiting for them to provide a response. "Lives. So

several lives. Both humans and vampires have made their homes inside of me at this point. After a few of centuries, I was able to murder Klaus. He was taken aback by it. He was unaware of the amount that I had improved.

several lives. Both humans and vampires have made their homes inside of me at this point. After a few of centuries, I was able to murder Klaus. He was taken aback by it. He was unaware of the amount that I had improved.

"I am the one that transported you both to this location. I implanted the idea in your head, Katherine, in the same manner that you implant ideas in the minds of humans. I was your guide as you made your way here. After that, I ensured that Dominic was following you. There was Elizabeth in this place. Because she has a striking resemblance to myself, I can't help but wonder whether we have a same ancestor. I was sure that you would run into her and feel bad about it. However, you were not expected to develop romantic feelings for her." The resentment that had been audible in Katherine's voice had been replaced by rage. "It wasn't meant to be like this between us! You were not authorized to give her my ring in any way, shape, or form."

"Katherine..."

Katherine moved forward quickly. "Oh, you made me so furious. And now I'm going to make you really, really regret what you did. It's clear to me now that the person I despise the most is you, Katherine. Because I loved you more than anybody else." She seemed to recover control of herself, as shown by the fact that she wiped the final traces of tears off of her cheeks and drew herself up with an exaggerated sense of dignity.

She remarked, "I don't detest Dominic nearly as much as I used to." "I may even let him live." Her pupils contracted, and then expanded as she formed an idea in her mind. "Hear me out, Dominic," she said behind his back. "You are not as dim-witted as your friend Katherine. You are aware of the facts of the situation. It's something I've overheard you say. I've seen things you've done." She cocked her head to the side. "Since Klaus passed away, I haven't had someone to talk to. You might be my companion during this. Simply stating that you love me more than anybody else is sufficient. Then, after I have eliminated them, we will go. If you really want to, you can even put an end to the girl's life. I'd let you. What are your thoughts?"

Oh, God, Elizabeth thought as her stomach began to turn again. Dominic's eyes were locked on Katherine's piercing blue ones, and he gave off the impression that he was examining her features. And the playful enjoyment that had been absent from his countenance returned. Elizabeth's first thought was, "Oh, God, no." Please, no...

Dominic's grin came on slowly.

Fifteen

Elizabeth observed Dominic with a fearful expression on her face. She was all too familiar with that unsettling smirk. But even as her stomach turned and her heart sunk, her thoughts taunted her with a question. What exactly was the impact of that? Both she and Katherine had little chance of surviving the accident. Dominic's decision to rescue himself was the only one that made any sense. And it was unreasonable to anticipate that he would act contrary to his nature.

She felt a pang of regret for the person Dominic may have been as she gazed at that charming grin.

Enchanted by his grin, Katherine smiled back at him. "Together, we are going to have the best time. I'll let you go as soon as they're no longer a threat. I honestly did not intend for my words to damage you in any way. I simply started to become upset." She reached out with her delicate fingers and gently touched his face. "I really apologize."

"Katherine," he called out to her. He maintained his happy expression. "Yes." She moved in for a closer look.
"Katherine..."

"Are you there, Dominic?" "You'll burn in hell."

Elizabeth recoiled in fear at what was about to take place even before it did so because she could sense a violent rush of power, a wicked and untamed surge of power. She let out a scream upon seeing the difference in Katherine. That beautiful face was transforming into something that was neither human nor animal as it twisted and contorted. As she landed on Dominic with her fangs embedded in his neck, Katherine's eyes flashed a bright red light as she did so.

Her fingers erupted into sharp talons, which she used to rake Dominic's already wounded chest with, cutting through his flesh as the blood gushed out of his wound. Elizabeth continued to scream, only vaguely comprehending that the agony in her arms was due to the fact that she was struggling against the ropes that bound her. She was able to make out Katherine's yelling in the background, but the most prominent sound was the piercing scream that came from Katherine's mind.

You are going to regret this now! Now it's my turn to make you feel terrible! I'll murder you! I'll murder you! I'll murder you! I'll murder you!

The very words were painful for Elizabeth; it was as if they were piercing her thoughts with spears. She was rocked back and forth against the iron pickets as a result of the overwhelming power of it. On the other hand, there was no way to avoid dealing with it. It seemed to be coming from every direction, pounding repeatedly in her head.

Kill you! Kill you! Kill you! Elizabeth passed out suddenly.
Merit, who was squatting next to Aunt Judith in the laundry room, adjusted her weight as she attempted to make sense of the noises coming from beyond the door. She wasn't sure how the dogs got in, but she could tell by the bleeding snouts of several of them that they had broken into the basement believed they had smashed through one of the windows on the ground floor. Merit was confused as to what they were doing now that they had exited the utility room and were standing outdoors. It was uncomfortably silent outside.

believed they had smashed through one of the windows on the ground floor. Merit was confused as to what they were doing now that they had exited the utility room and were standing outdoors. It was uncomfortably silent outside.

"Be quiet," Robert said in a hushed voice. "It's not a problem at all, my darling. There is no need for alarm; everything will turn out OK."

Merit looked over Margaret's two heads with eyes filled with fear and determination. She thought to herself that they were so close to identifying you as the Other Power. However, there was no time to feel remorse at this point.

"Where can I find Elizabeth? Elizabeth has assured me that she will watch over me "Margaret remarked, her eyes big and sad. "She assured me that she would look after me." Aunt Judith covered her lips with her palm as she spoke.

Merit said, "She is taking care of you," as she approached. "All she did was give me the task to do on her behalf. It is an undeniable fact, "She said vehemently, and in response, Robert's expression of disapproval changed into one of confusion.
