Chapter 27
I started my life in Canada, pregnant. I often thought about Kenneth. Especially when I was vomiting. Every time the baby moved. Every night when I couldn't sleep because of body aches. I would think in my heart, it would be good if he was here. But he might not even want this child. Thinking of this, I sighed. It seemed like I had really fallen in love with him. This is so miserable. Because he doesn't love me, and we have divorced.
When I was nine months pregnant, I was walking with a male classmate at school and unexpectedly ran into Katie. I was shocked. So was she.
"You're pregnant?" She stared at me, examining my belly. "Kenneth's?"
I noticed the familiar-looking guy standing next to her and then remembered that he was Kenneth's brother, Kelvin. Was Katie doing this on purpose?
After steadying myself for two seconds, I smiled and said, "Thanks to you, I divorced Kenneth a long time ago. Did you forget?"
Katie quickly pulled on Kelvin's sleeve, looking panicked.
"How can you say that? He took me to the hospital and left."
Where did Kenneth go after that? Oh well, it's all in the past now.
"Let me introduce you to my new boyfriend." I linked arms with my foreign classmate, smiling brightly. "Harold Hayes, the father of my child."
Katie's face changed and changed again.
"Does he know?" Kelvin, who had been silent the whole time, asked calmly.
"He doesn't need to know."
Since we've already divorced, why would I tell him about these things?
"If I remember correctly, you're still legally married," Kelvin said, staring at me.
Belly, unable to speak.
"My younger brother is busy with his business, dragging me for years without coming back to sign. I can't possibly wait for him forever."
I'm actually a little panicked. I'm afraid Kelvin will tell Kenneth about this matter. I'm very afraid that he will know I'm pregnant with his child.
"He mentioned you when he called me that day."
Why mention me? A man I haven't seen in half a year. After Kelvin finished speaking, he hesitated, looked at me, and then turned and left. After they left, Harold looked at me in confusion.
"What did you guys talk about?" he asked me.
I breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that he didn't understand Chinese, otherwise, I would have been exposed.
"They said you're handsome, and they will introduce you to a girlfriend in the future."
He was extremely happy all the way, eager to send me his handsome photos and have me introduce him to Chinese girls. He likes Chinese girls. I silently cursed in my heart, how silly.
