Chapter 31
He kissed me for a long time, a very long time, until the baby sleeping next to us woke up crying loudly, and only then did he reluctantly let go of me and pick up the child to soothe.
“Let’s be good from now on, okay?”
My heart was beating fast, my mind in disarray. Afterwards, he continued to take care of me and the baby. He slept with me every night, one arm around the child, and the other holding my hand. We lived like this for a month.
My condition gradually improved. The child didn't cry as much and didn't get sick as easily. Suddenly, life became good.
After the month was over, he would take the baby out every day pushing the stroller, holding my hand. We would go for walks in the park, and he would talk to me about many things.
He seemed to never tire. Saying that I wasn't moved would be a lie.
However, one day in the park, we ran into Katie. Rather than saying we ran into her, it would be more accurate to say that Katie was waiting for us here. In that moment, I felt very uncomfortable, but I pushed the stroller with our child and turned to leave.
"You two talk," I said. But Kenneth held my hand and didn't let me go.
"Why go alone? The child is too heavy, you won't be able to carry him later."
"It's only ten pounds," he underestimated me.
"You just gave birth, the doctor said you shouldn't exert yourself," he said, holding the child and soothing him.
"Brother Kenneth," Katie was shocked by this scene, her face ugly with tears. "Kelvin is engaged to someone else."
"I know," Kenneth's face remained calm. I stood awkwardly to the side.
"Can you..." she started saying.
"No." Kenneth told her immediately. "Sorry, I have to take care of our bay, there's nothing else. Don't contact me again in the future."
"Why?" Katie's face turned red. "Are you ignoring me too?"
Kenneth coldly glanced at her. "You used to be my brother's girlfriend, and I helped you out because of him. But now, you're not anymore. Why should I help you?"
His tone was cold. I could see that Katie was so angry that she couldn't even stand straight.
"Kenneth, please." She cried, gasping for breath. It was hard for me to watch.
"Don't call me that anymore." Kenneth coldly looked at her.
"Why?" she kept saying.
"My wife doesn't like it." He said, as he hugged me.
To say I was shocked was an understatement. He's really good at assigning reasons for his actions. Without giving Katie any more time, Kenneth held me and the child in his arms, and left.
In reality, Katie is really pitiful. She followed Kelvin for so many years, even came to America, but in the end, he turned around and married someone else.
"You don't have to put on an act in front of me, after all, you were just a passerby." I sighed and looked at Kenneth.
"It's not an act, I like being taken by you." He looked nonchalant.
"Nonsense, when did I ever control you?" I realized what I said and reacted, "When did I say I wanted to remarry you?"
"So, you still don't want to remarry?" He sighed, "I do everything according to your will, isn't that enough?"
I replied: "It's not."
"Then don't contradict yourself." He continues
What a joke, that's impossible. I, Grace, never give up.
