The Friendship Gift

"Wait! I have something to give you!" Spontaneously, Kerry grabbed my hand. I was almost a little surprised by the unexpected action she took.

"G-giving something?"

"Wait a moment!" Kerry released her grip and moved towards her study table.

On the table there was a parcel from a cake shop that was known to be expensive and very delicious. I frowned, I just realized that since I entered the room, I could smell the aroma of chocolate cake which was very fragrant and delicious.

Kerry took the parcel and gave it to me who looked at it questioningly.

"Here, accept a gift from me! Consider it a gift because we are starting to be friends." She said.

"Friendship gift? What does that mean?"

"Sorry, you must be surprised. But honestly I feel bad for you about yesterday's incident. Really, I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable at all. That's why I really apologize and regret my stupid actions yesterday."

I was stunned, not understanding Kerry's statement about my stupid actions yesterday. It felt very strange if she only apologized for her actions yesterday, when today she still made the same mistake.

I really don't understand whether this time I should apologize for Kerry's actions or be angry because she lied and pretended not to know.

"I understand, but you don't need to give me a gift like this!"

"No, please accept it! I really hope we can become good friends. Therefore-"

"Okay, I understand you want to start a good relationship. But I don't want to accept gifts for being friends. We can be friends naturally as usual, so you don't need to give me any gifts."

"No, Soraya! Please don't talk like that. I want us to be friends, so accept it! I've worked hard to queue to buy it this afternoon. If you don't accept it, I'll be very disappointed." I didn't expect Kerry to be this pushy.

Apart from that, his tone of voice which seemed spoiled and strange made me a little uncomfortable. Since that bad first impression that day, it's been hard for me to act naturally towards him.

"Yes, okay. Then thank you!" Since it was impossible to refuse Kerry who was so adamant, I was forced to accept his gift.

Kerry smiled broadly, even though she looked happy, her smile actually looked very scary.

"Thank goodness. Then, let's be friends!"

"Hey, Soraya!

"Soraya?

"Hey, Miss Soraya Charlotte Chamberlain!

David kept calling me who was walking dreamily in front of him. I don't know how many times David tried to call me, but I still ignored him.

Impatient, David immediately walked ahead of me and stood in front of me to block my steps.

Realizing David was in front of me, I gasped and immediately stopped walking. My forehead furrowed as I looked at David who suddenly stood up and faced me.

"David, what are you doing? Why are you standing in front of me?"

"What did I do? Geez, you've really gone crazy, haven't you? How many times do you think I've called you? Are you sleepwalking?"

"Call me? You called me? When?" I asked. I really didn't realize it and it made David feel a little annoyed and disappointed that he had been ignored.

"Is that so? Am I so unimportant that I can easily be ignored? OK, then I'll excuse myself. Have a nice day?"

"Jeez, David. Come on! I really didn't hear you calling me! Or rather, I didn't realize it. I'm sorry!" I asked. I smiled sweetly, hoping David could forgive me.

Seeing the sweet smile on my face made David immediately forget his disappointment. He was clear about his feelings, he knew it. Because of that, he didn't want to play the role of an ordinary friend or something for too long.

"Do you like watching movies?" David asked, he immediately changed the topic.

"Why do you ask that?"

"Am I not allowed to know?"

"Hahaha no, I was just kidding. OK, I said yes. Are you satisfied?"

"Hmm...what genre do you like? Romance? Drama? Or comedy?"

"Thriller! I like films that are suspenseful and full of mystery."

"Really? Are you serious?"

"Do I look unconvincing?"

"Hahaha...honestly yes! That's quite surprising. But, it's actually very interesting. Are you busy this Saturday? There's a good film in the cinema. Professional killer, I want to watch it with you."

"Professional killer? The film has been released in theaters? Wow, I've been looking forward to it. Of course I want to!" Me looking enthusiastic made David happy. He didn't expect that we were on the same frequency.

"Okay, then this Saturday I'll be waiting at the coffee shop in front of campus at 5 pm. What do you think?"

"Yes, you can! I don't mind!"

"David!" A young man called David in front of the class while waving his hand. David immediately turned around, seeming to realize that he had to end this conversation.

"I'll be there. See you later-"

"You guys want to disband already? I just want to join in?" Said Kimberly who was already close to them and they almost didn't notice.

"Kim? I really didn't know you were here!"
