Immortal Desire (2)

I brought my kit from the third floor to my room. It took only several minutes to take his blood sample and saliva. After I was done, I tidied up the kit.

I was kneeling on the floor and Lex was sitting on the edge of the bed in front of me. At times, I peeked at his crotch. It was still hard.

“Is it a sorcerer's kind of thing?” I asked.

“What?”

“To be hard this long?”

Lex had a low rumble of a chuckle. “No,” he replied, “It’s because you’re still here. Let’s call it an immortal desire for you.”

I stopped whatever I was doing. When I looked up, I caught his gaze and felt a thump in my chest. Flustered because it never happened before, I cleared my throat and asked him, “So, how was a sorcerer born?”

In an attempt to get him out of my mind, I grabbed my journal and started scribbling. Anything. I was noting down nonsense. But Lex didn’t have to see what I was writing.

“Sorcerers are born like humans. But we are scarce in number and so it is hard for us to reproduce. And it sure doesn’t help that some humans have been hunting us. I am the last purely bred sorcerer in the world.”

It is weird to see him telling me about his origin in a gentle voice. It reminded me of the day he picked me up from the street. I wondered if the man I saw in the vision was still inside him all along.

“Are all sorcerers immortal like you?” I asked, averting my gaze from him.

“No. Only the purebred ones.”

“Like vampires?”

Lex shrugged, “Sort of. But we don’t hibernate like bats or drink blood. We just have magic coursing in our blood.”

“What happened to your parents then?” I paused, then added, “Look, if it is too private to you then you don’t have to answer.”

He looked down at me with a tender gaze. I thought perhaps I was seeing the young Alexander and not the rude man I had the unfortunate of dealing with these couple of days. Again, my determination faltered. I kind of wanted to get to know the young Alexander. I was hoping it was actually the real him.

“How is knowing how my parents died would help you in your quest for your cure?” he asked.

I blinked for a while. After adjusting my seat, I told him, “If two immortals have died, then they are not really immortal. It’s good to understand how they die for me to know what is the best way to handle your sample.”

“Do you really think you can find the cure for your illness?” he asked, not in a mocking tone, but in a warm voice. He sounded concerned about me.

I took a deep breath and finally admitted. “No. Not really.”

“But you are trying, anyway?”

My hands moved to grab my kit bag. “I don’t enjoy waiting, unable to do anything. I want to do something, be busy. Because if I don’t… my mind spirals and…”

“I get it,” he surprisingly said, “Sometimes a busy mind is worse than a busy life.” That was exactly how I feel. I don’t like to wait and lounging around in uncertainty. I want to do something, to take control of my life.

“But… you know, with the cycle and everything…,” I said in a small voice, “I don’t really have a chance, huh? I am just playing cute with fate.”

“It’s brave,” he said. “It’s always brave to try. And you’ll never know where the journey will take you. I surely didn’t know my journey will lead me to you.”

I blinked at that.

You. He said ‘you’. Not Kira or the Lady. ‘You’ as in me, Arianna.

“Likewise,” I replied with a smile.

Silence enveloped us for a while. Until he finally answered my previous question. “My mother died giving birth to me. One reason for the difficulty of sorcerers to reproduce is because it leads to profuse bleeding and higher maternal mortality. If the child has a great magical ability, then it is possible the child will suck away the mother’s life forces. I killed my mother.”

I stayed silent, allowing him to continue.

“My father blamed me. He tried raising me, but after twenty-six years, he went away and never returned to me. So I have been living for over a thousand years alone. Until I met Kira and had to relive my life two thousand more to reach what you call ‘now’. In this new life, Kira was never born because she is stuck in the Cycle.”

“Wow,” I muttered. “I… I don’t know what to say.”

“Yeah.”

I really did not know what to say. Lex seemed to have a pretty rough life. Living that long must have been awful if he was doing it alone since humans would fade, eventually. I felt bad for him again and I understood then why he didn’t want to see another person leaving him. It would remind him too much of his past, and that was why he was hard on me.

Maybe I was just justifying his rudeness, but I quite understand the feeling of being left behind. My father was never around and my mother died, too. The reason I preferred to push everyone away was that I did not want them to leave me eventually when I least expected them to.

Lex was pushing me away, as I had pushed so many people away, too. Still, if I could push people away politely and decently, he should have done that to me too.

“I know how it feels,” I finally said. I wanted him to know that he was not the only one feeling these things.

“I know.”

That was all I could offer. A companionship.

Thinking about it made me laugh. Such an irony for a sugar baby, huh? In the end, all I could do was to offer my escorting services, accompanying the man.

My eyes suddenly peeked at his waist again. “You’re still hard?” I had to ask, even though I could clearly see it was still bulging.

“It’ll be a while,” he said.

“But we’re having a heart-to-heart convo,” I said in puzzlement, “Why are you still turned on?”

He looked down at me like I was dubious. “Have you seen yourself in the mirror? You’re a walking bombshell, Ari. I will always have a desire for you, and it amplified with the attraction pull because you’re the Lady. Long story short, it is an immortal desire.”

“You think I’m a bombshell?” My smile bloomed.

“That is the only thing you take from all that?”

I gulped as my courage returned to me. Still locking my eyes with Lex, my hand reached out to the rim of his pants. His breath hitched. “Ari, if you are messing with me again…”

“No,” I said quickly, “Let me do it.” I bit my lower lip slightly. I knew he always likes it when I do that. He told me before that I look sexy doing it.

My fingers found his meat scepter and I admit my core started to wet, too. I felt a different kind of hunger, a much older hunger that I knew would not be satisfied with ordinary food. Perhaps he was right. There was an immortal desire between us. It was not just his; it was also my desire.

Slowly, I pulled down his pants and took in his shaft between my fingers. Still looking at him deep in the eyes, I traveled my fingers up and down. He growled in his throat. His voice made me even wetter.

“You do know I can smell your wetness too, right?”

“What?” That is the last thing I wanted to hear right then.

“We all can,” he said, “Though Renald has the best smelling ability.”

“Shut up,” I said just before I took in his shaft in my mouth. I knew how he liked it. He loved it when I suck him from end to end. And he also loved it when I spare a few moments licking the tip, teasing him, then taking in his whole thing until his tip reached the back of my throat.

“Oh, Ari,” he moaned as he grabbed a handful of my hair and unconsciously started moving my head. I let him.

I repeated the same motion until he found his release in my mouth. My breathing was ragged, and I gagged several times, but my eyes twinkled. So did his.

“Thank you,” he said.

I licked my lower lip as sensually as possible. “I’m still not forgiving you yet.”

He laughed. “Well, torment me however you like. I can’t wait,” he said with a grin.

Just then, the door to his room was knocked. It was Xavier. “Lady, and uh… Master, dinner is served.”

I quickly stood up as Lex tidied his pants. Then we finally came out of the room with lighter hearts. I got a feeling that I would not be having trouble with Lex anymore. That our relationship would grow for the better.

But what I didn’t realize was that it was never about me and Lex only in this relationship. And that the dinner that day would be the start of a war.
