“I’ll be right back,” Vipsania chirped as we walked out of Mr Toles’ office. I nodded at her as I pretended to check my phone. As she turned her back on me and walked towards the restroom, I scanned the office for Anna but she was nowhere to be seen.

I hadn’t been ignorant enough to turn a blind eye on the way Vipsania was acting in the office. I didn’t like it. I was contemplating on having a talk about this with Vipsania but before that, I wanted to talk to Anna.

I continued to look for Anna as I pretended to be waiting for Vipsania to return from the restroom. I had to fight off the frown from climbing on my face when I saw Vipsania return but Anna was still nowhere to be seen.

“Let’s go,” She smiled at me. I nodded in response while feeling very much disappointed internally. I looked over my shoulder a last time as I stepped out of the office after Vipsania. I froze in my tracks when I saw Anna step out of the restroom.

My head snapped back to Vipsania as realization dawned upon me that they might have been together in the restroom. They might as well have talked with each other but I must do my part.

I listened to Vipsania’s chatter as we headed towards the parking lot. I had to drop her to the hotel before driving back to work. Just the thought made me want to groan out loud. I wanted her to go away as soon as possible. She irked me out of my senses.

“Vipsania,” I breathed as we got into my car and I drove off the parking lot.

“Yes,” She turned to me with a bright and seductive smile while her eyes simmered with desire as they focused on me. I cringed internally.

“You’re an elegant woman but the way you acted with Annelise in the office, it was very rude of you,” I told her politely. She stared at me momentarily in silence. Meanwhile, I concentrated on the road.

“She was the girl from the club that night, wasn’t she?” She questioned instead. The air in the car was suddenly growing thick with tension.

“Yes,” I decided to be honest. I wanted to sort this out. After she saw Annelise with me that night, she wasn’t very happy and insisted that I drive her home early. She had asked me about her many times but I didn’t utter a word that night but I hardly doubted that that same would work in this situation.

“What were you doing with her that night, Theo? Are you keeping something from me?” She asked as she crossed her hands on her chest and narrowed her eyes at me. My hold on the steering wheel tightened while I clenched my jaw.

She was very close to guessing the truth. Annelise was my Czira but I didn’t want anyone to know that. I still wasn’t sure if I wanted to accept her. A huge part of me wanted to accept her but at the same time, she wasn’t of my kind and I generally didn’t like to break the Legacy’s rules.

Although, I still desired for Anna very deeply. That night, seeing her with someone else was driving me crazy but it hurt so much that I just couldn’t have her. Today when Vipsania was acting so rudely with Anna, I wanted to call her out in front of everyone but my respect for Vipsania and the fact that she is Valter’s sister kept me from doing so.

“That’s none of your business,” I told Vipsania this time, not caring if it would make her upset or not. I was slowly starting to find it hard to tolerate her. I have had enough of her already.

My answer made her gasp, “So you have something going on behind my back?”

“Behind your back? We aren’t dating, Vipsania. I have said this countless times and I am going to say this again – I don’t want to do anything with you, Vipsania. I have always viewed you as a sister,” I gritted as my patience threatened to snap in half. It’s after those words had fallen off my mouth, I was able to realize that the tone of my voice was sharp and rude.

A look of hurt covered her face as she looked at me. I had to look away and concentrate on the road again. I was instantly feeling guilty for talking to her like that but I just couldn't hold myself back this time.

“So, this is what I get after being so nice to you all the time?” She gritted. I chose not to answer that question of hears. We were near the hotel anyway and I couldn’t have thanked Poseidon enough for that.

“You can go from here,” I spoke stopping the car at the front of the hotel. She gave me a last look before she opened the door and stepped out. I didn’t miss how hard she slammed the door. I knew she was angry. She ought to be but it wasn’t my fault that she had so many expectations from me even though I had made it clear to her that I wasn’t interested in her.

My mood was spoiled when I reached the office. Valter was already at the office, working with the rest of our intelligence team.

“I hope you took care of it,” He spoke when he saw me.

“Yeah, Vipsania went with me,” I told him before focusing on the work. “Any news from the Lycans?” I asked while looking at the papers that carried all the information related to the case we were handling currently.

“Yeah, they informed about a small attack on a member of the Arrabent Manes pack. That’s a werewolf pack far south from Itavelle,” Informed Rodrigo. He was in charge of collecting updates from other creatures.

Even though our main duty was ensuring the safety of our kind and we minotaurs usually steered clear of any interaction with other creatures but this case was special.

We were currently dealing with a vampire coven who were targeting Lycan mates. Lycans were the creatures of night and we didn’t have much in common, we had to interfere in this case because there was a possibility that our Czira could be targeted the same way someday.

Vampires were also our common enemy so we had decided to come together to deal with this problem more efficiently. Although we had made this clear to them that we wouldn’t be part of any combat until it's very necessary. We were only helping them collect information, which we would further use for our own advantage.

“Was the wolf alone?” I asked.

“No, it was actually a human female. She was accompanied by a Lycan,” Rodrigo answered. This attracted my interest.

“They have humans in werewolf pack too?” I asked. Rodrigo nodded, “Some wolves have human mates sometimes,”

“Interesting,”

“Is she alright?” I asked, scanning through papers to look for more details.

“Yes, she is. She also happens to be mate to one of their chief commanders,” Rodrigo’s words made me freeze before I looked at him and asked, “Who did you say was leading this mission for Lycans?”

“Commander Georges,” Answered Rodrigo.

“You mean Ace Georges, right?” I asked for confirmation. I remembered that Lycan very clearly from the Lycanthrope council. I had been sent there a few months ago to confirm our participation in this case. I had met Ace there.

Rodrigo nodded.
