Chapter XXIII: Amalia and Amaris' Duel
“Good morning, b*tch! I will make sure that I will never see you again after this!” That was Amalia's immediate greeting to me when we met the next day.
The Elites are complete here inside the arena. They decided that we would just meet here, since there are no classes up to this day.
I looked at her knee with no trace of any wound or scar. She is so brave now that she can move freely again.
I just let her get on her knees when I got home. I thought the next day, somehow she would change, but I was wrong again. A lady like her will never accept defeat.
“Girls, just a reminder, okay? Once someone had a scratch, even a little one… we will stop the fight. That's the only goal, isn't it?” Drake seriously talked to us.
He is with us here in the platform, while the others were watching us from afar.
"I am against this… but for your peace of mind, we will give it to you." He shook his head as he looked at me, as if he still wanted to say something but chose not to continue.
“Strictly, no killing girls! Damn it! This is not good!” Ashton shouted from outside the platform.
“Please remind me why did we even allow them to do this?” I heard Stephan whispered, he sounded so worried. "We will be doomed once the headmaster learned about this sh*t!”
I looked at their reactions and saw the worried faces of Sanya and Tanya. I just gave them a reassuring smile. They all look troubled. Caden, on the other hand, was sitting in a comfortable chair.
I just smiled bitterly when I saw him seriously looking at Amalia. I want to tell him that can he look at me as well? I can no longer understand my own emotion these past few days. There always seems to be little needles piercing my heart every time I see him focus his attention on Amalia.
"You can choose any weapon you want to use."
A table appeared in front of us and on top of it were placed various types of weapons. Amalia immediately took out a gold sword and grinned at me. Her anger for me seems endless.
"You can also get your preferred weapon, Amaris." Drake smiled at me.
"Uh, I'll just have this." I grabbed a dagger and immediately walked away from it as well.
“Follow the rules, girls. Just a scratch and it's over.” He sighed before giving us a signal that we can now start.
I took a deep breath as I prepared myself. I looked at Amalia who is now preparing for an attack.
She no longer waste time, she seems so eager to win this fight. Amalia lunged forward, quickly sprinting towards me and tried to jabbed out her sword at my side, but thanks to my reflexes I got the chance to avoid it. I quickly moved away from where I had been standing before, and now she was running towards me again.
She's so aggressive, I could see the hunger for victory in her eyes. I let her attack me, but when she is already in front of me, I disappeared into thin air.
“I’m here…” She immediately looked at her back where I was.
Amalia gritted her teeth, being impatient once again. “Oh come on, Amaris! Stop avoiding! Fight me!”
She gripped her sword and sprinted at my direction again. This time I hold my dagger firmly and waited for her attack. The powerful collision between the blades of her sword and the dagger I was holding was heard all over the place.
She is using all her strength, but I tried my best to not be pushed backward. The weight of my dagger was dragging her down and get this chance to kick her stomach.
I 'm sorry.
"Oh sh*t!" Amalia grunted and jumped backward to get back on her stance.
She glared at me and violently threw away the sword. I tightened the grip on my dagger. She grinned at me first, before I heard the cracking of bones. Her body structure was starting to change. Her body started to get hairy and her teeth grew bigger.
A few more seconds and now standing in front of me is a giant brown werewolf.
I swallowed my own saliva when I saw how big she is. I don't think I'm even halfway of her size. She growled and it almost shaken the whole arena. She became more confident on her wolf form.
"Be careful, Amaris!" I heard the worried voice of Sanya.
I looked at the wolf in front of me. I can't help but smile. She's the second creature I allowed to transform in front of me. The first one was Mr. Bear.
I even saw the comfort in her when she was about to change form. I have this ability of prohibiting someone from transforming into their other forms. Since I want to be fair with her, I let her transform on her wolf form.
It howled again and ran fiercely towards me. I just want to finish it.
I just watched Amalia run towards my direction, and Elites don’t know what to do as they shout my name. I can feel the tension coming from all of them.
"Move, Amaris!"
“F*ck! Why are you just standing there?!”
"Are you going to kill yourself, woman?!" The last one was from the mighty King of whole Laurent University—Caden.
I smiled, is he worried as well?
Amalia on the other hand didn’t even stop, she is so ready to devour me. As if she waited for this for a long time.
“Fermare,” I casted when the wolf is only half a meter away from me.
Everything seems like in slow motion, as we all watched Amalia’s wolf-form stopped before she even reached me. She let out a loud growl, indicating that she is in pain.
I already let you transformed and that's enough. I won't let you lay your fingers on me again.
I wish I could have told her that but it will just add to her already hurt pride. I raised my hand and at the same time the big creature got lifted like it was just a light object.
"Gettare." And when I waved my hand again, she was thrown away meters away from where I was standing. It caused an extreme damage to the platform.
The wolf immediately stood up but I already made my way towards her. I easily got to where it was didn’t let her to attack anymore.
I slid myself on the floor while clinging tightly to the dagger I was holding. I did successfully put a cut on her left foot, then swiftly jumped backward and watched her grunt in pain.
Oh, finally… this will be over.
“Hey, b*tch! If you think I'm going to let it pass that easily, you're wrong!” Amalia got back on her human body, she grabs her sword.
I saw her bleeding foot, but she didn’t mind it at all.
What does she mean by that? It’s over! She could barely stand up!
"The game was over, Amalia!" Stephan interrupted her when they saw the woman preparing for an attack once again.
"No, I won't let her get away with it easily!" She is limping while walking into somewhere and picked up something that looks like a remote control.
“We are not yet done!” She then pressed it, and slowly the platform was covered by a glass.
I looked around us and saw the Elites trying make way to get inside the platform.
“You are a cheater, Amalia! The fight is over!” Tanya shouted while holding on to the glass from the outside. "Remove the barrier, cheater!"
“Stop being so low, Amalia! Remove the barrier and accept your defeat!” Caden said while throwing her dagger looks. "Don't wait for me to get in there and pull you out!"
“No, Marcus. Let me finish this, b*tch! She is being a pain in the ass!” She threw away the remote handle to the floor and violently trampled on it. She eveb had the guts to combed her hair with her finger before smiling at me.
"Die, b*tch!" She ran towards me as the sword pointed in my direction.
I am just shaking my head while watching her. Amalia really wants to get punished really bad.
"Inginocchiarsi…” I whispered into thin air and at the same time, Amalia was forced to kneel on the floor and released the sword from her grip even how tight she holds onto it.
I need to do that for her to stop.
“Enough, Amalia… Stop this nonsense…” I knelt down so I could level from her gaze. I was even surprised to see the tears welling up in her eyes.
“Let’s stop this, Amalia. Are you not tired?"
Because if I were to be asked, I am getting exhausted from all of this. I am too tired arguing with her. I don't want to feel angry anymore, for it just brings pain in my heart.
In my whole existence, she was the only one who made me feel this angry. Amalia is really pushing me to my limits. And I'm really trying my best to hold onto it.
“I won’t get tired hating on you. You won today but next time I will make sure I’ll win. Get out of my sight, b*tch!” She screamed at me despite struggling with her situation. Her voice was full of hatred.
I watched her, just in case there was an answer as to why she was so mad at me. I knew I had apologized to her already. I was wrong and I admitted it. But I am also thankful, because of her I learned something and I promised to myself that I have to learn more.
“Let’s go, Amaris. You have to rest.” I was surprised when Sanya was already behind me. She holds my arm helping me to stand up.
I looked at the glass barrier and it was already broken.
The twins helped me to get back to my feet, but my attention was caught by someone. Caden directly walks toward Amalia and I saw how worried he is while looking at the woman who is kneeling in front of us.
"Release her now," Caden said authoritatively but the attention remained on Amalia.
"S-scarcerare." My heart is in pain as I whispered the chant.
I will release Amalia, even he has not asked for it.
I feel sorry for her. I pity her for feeling so much hatred in her heart, but I also want her to reflect on everything she has done. I want her to be free of the anger she feels.
“I am leaving. Thank you very much…” I said in a very low voice and then turned my back at all of them.
I can’t watch Caden worrying on Amalia. My chest tightened at that sight. I felt so suffocated, it was as if something was blocking my throat and choking me.
I don't have anyone to ask why I feel this way because I won't see Mathilda for a week, so I'll keep whatever it is for now.
I didn't let Sanya and Tanya follow me either. I immediately left the arena without waiting for their response. I just want to close my eyes and sleep for a week. I feel so tired… emotionally.
