Chapter VII: The Elites
Our conversation continued until our classmates began to show up, followed by Professor Hipolito.
I looked at my wristwatch and it was exactly eight o'clock in the morning. We were so engrossed in the conversation that we no longer realized the time. One by one they waved and greeted me, which I responded warmly.
"Good morning to the most beautiful creature in the whole Wromouth!" Freya said as if she is announcing it in the whole room. She is the woman with violet hair and pale skin. There is no doubt that she is a vampire.
I shyly smiled at her and greeted her back.
“Good morning, everyone.” Mr. Hipolito tapped the table and it immediately interrupted our short luxury of time. Everyone settled on their seats while I focused my attention in front.
“Please prepare yourselves and we will proceed at the arena. I'll just give you a minute and wait you all outside.” He didn’t wait for everyone’s response because in an instant he was no longer inside.
I was about to grab my bag when I noticed what is happening inside. I was kind of amazed to witness my classmates how they use their special abilities to finish what they are doing. It seems like the whole classroom suddenly turned into a small chaos. They are already using their super speed but I could still clearly see what they are doing like it's just their normal movements.
I looked at what I'm wearing—a sleeveless black jumpsuit and a cream pumps. I just put my hair in a high ponytail and I am ready to go, but before that I also adjusted the badge that was pinned above my chest.
I got out and I was surprised to see many unfamiliar faces in the hallway. They were scattered around the corners and I am suddenly got overwhelmed. My mind went blank.
How did I forget that the university doesn’t only consist of my classmates which I met yesterday? Of course, there are still more a lot of creatures here. In a short span of time, I got to see different being.
I felt my feet rooted in the floor when their heads suddenly turned to where I was. I don’t know if I am going to take a step forward or just disappear in front of them. I'm just thankful that Mathilda came to me right away.
“Just stay beside me, Amaris. Everyone will go to the arena so there will be a lot of creatures that you are about to meet. You have to ready yourself," she whispered as she held my hand and began walking.
I could feel their piercing stares and could even hear them murmuring, as if they are deliberately implying that they are talking about… me.
“Oh f-ck! Who is she? ”
"So an angel decided to visit us today, huh?”
“In what continent did such a beautiful woman hide and I only have seen her now?! Tell me!”
"That beauty is dangerous! Swear!”
I tightened my grip on Mathilda. If only I could cover my face or just vanished into thin air. I don’t know what to feel as of the moment. My cheeks were burning of embarrassment.
“Don’t mind them. The creatures here are not used to seeing someone like you." Mathilda noticed that I was uneasy so we walk a bit faster.
I was stunned when I felt an arm on my shoulders. I was about to hit this creature if I didn’t see that it was Olivia. Oh, God! She just appeared out of nowhere.
“You are just too good to be true, Amaris. Your beauty is incomparable. So don't be surprised because you will definitely get the attention of all the creatures here in Laurent…” she said, giggling.
I pouted my lips.
Why does everyone have the same sentiments about this matter? I mean, can’t they see that they are all beautiful creatures as well? I can’t see any difference between me and them. All I know is we were equally blessed with our own beauties and there was nothing special about me to give an extra attention.
The arena was almost full when we arrived. I looked up at the number of creatures here today.
"The Elites are already here." I could trace the excitement in that voice.
"When did they return?”
We immediately saw some of our classmates so we just sat beside them. There is an overflowing noise around us, everyone is so busy talking with each other.
“I heard some rumors that Room 514 has a beautiful transferee!”
“Does she look that good? I have been hearing it since yesterday. There are so many people, I didn’t see her.”
“Yeah! They said that even the Hopkins sisters or Amalia couldn't compare with the beauty that she has.”
I think that’s an exaggeration.
“Ugh! There will be no more chance for the Elites to notice us. Geez!”
I don’t want to listen to all the on-going conversations around us, but I can’t avoid it. I have this ability to I have the ability to hear even the lowest voice inside this arena and I could see the tiniest thing even it was kilometers away from me.
I was about to block them when there was a sudden silence, as if an angel had passed by. Even my classmates seem so tamed in their seats. My eyes went to the entrance just in where they are all staring at.
"They are the Elites, Amaris…" Mathilda whispered to me even I am not asking yet.
There are four creatures who entered the arena—two dashing men and two stunning ladies. The latter have very similar faces, the only difference is the color of their hair. So I conclude that they are twins.
There was no trace of smile on their lips as they walk boldly to the center. There is one specific similarity that they share—it is that they are all vampires.
“They’re not complete. There are still three remaining members,” Olivia added.
The blonde-haired woman walks in the middle while the three settled in the seat reserved for them. Her hips were swaying as she steps in to the platform. She is undoubtedly pretty.
“Good morning, Laurent students. I am Sanya from the Kingdom of Hopkins." Her cold voice echoed the whole room that could sent chills to everyone.
"Since the three remaining Elites were not here, I'm the one who will discuss the following rules and regulations. I'll rip your neck if I caught you not listening.” I could clearly see the sharpness of her gaze as she said that.
“Chill, Sanya. Don't scare them!” One of the two men interrupted her. It is the one whit a nose piercing. Well, he looks extremely good, but I could feel a playful aura from him.
“Shut up, Ashton! Or else, you want to be a dead meat!” The girl named Sanya angrily looked at him, but the two men just laugh in response.
The woman sighed exasperatedly. Her eyes are now turning red and there is an invisible aura surrounding her. Her aura was saying that she is not the creature you want to messed up with.
“Every year, we are always reminding all of you that no one was allowed to hurt anyone especially if you are inside the school premises. And if I ever caught you…” She raises her hand in the air and formed it into fist.
“Well, b*tches try to run for your life, because I will show no mercy as I burn you into ashes.” Slowly, ashes started to fall from her hand the moment she releases her grip.
No one else has the guts to speak. I could hear everyone’s heavy breathing and their loud heartbeats. The whole place suddenly covered with the scared aura coming from them.
“They are making rules, but when it comes to them it becomes permissible. That’s absurd!" Well I'm wrong, someone was hissing next to me. It is Mathilda.
“That scorned b*tch!"
“Shush, Mathilda. Let her finish what she's saying." This is the first time I saw her this annoyed.
“Don’t mind that b*tch! I've been holding back for years!” She gritted her teeth while giving death glares to the woman in front.
I have no idea what she is talking about, but for now she needs to loosen up. I hold her hand to calm her down, and to my relief, she slowly calms her system.
“No breaking of school's facilities. Your life is not enough to pay for those things.” Sanya finally got my attention as she continued talking.
I turned my cold gaze in front. She is being disdainful and it is slowly getting on my nerves.
Who is she to belittle anyone's value? Everyone's life is worthy than any material things in this world.
“To all the scholars… be sure that you are not lacking. No one will accept each one of you if I decided to kick you out of this school!” The silence inside the arena was deafening. They are really not going to defend themselves?
I felt so sad for all the creatures she was referring to. Imagine how hurt they are…
I worriedly looked at Mathilda and I saw how sad she is. She's one of the scholars and striving for life. She doesn't deserve this humiliation.
"That's enough, Sanya!" A cold and stern voice interrupted her once again.
The other man is now walking towards her direction. He was about to grab the woman in her arm but she quickly dodged it.
“Tsk. You are no fun, Stephan!" Sanya replied frowning before leaving the stage and straightly went to the seat next to her twin.
“Good day, I’m Stephan from the Kingdom of Morris. I apologize for the rudeness of Sanya, you all know she's like that ever since.” The guy with pair of blue eyes stood in front. His pale skin shines brighter because of the sunlight.
“Every first week of January, we have a tradition called Hunter's Game and that's a week from now. I encourage everyone of you to practice and try harder. Let's be on the top together. That’s it! You could all go home and let's just meet tomorrow,” he said in monotone and in just a split second they all disappeared like a bubble.
Oh, that’s it? That was so quick!
Everyone suddenly got back on their tracks. The whole place was covered with sighs of relief as if they just came from a matter of life and death situation. Various comments could be heard from them but my attention was only on one creature—Mathilda.
My heart hurts for her. She looks so gloomy. Gone the cheerful aura from her.
She jumped from her seat when I tapped her shoulder.
“Uh, is it over? I didn't realize…” She looks around, still absent-minded.
“You don't have to pretend that you're okay if you're not. I am willing to listen whenever you are ready to tell your story.” I gave her my most genuine smile, making her feel that she is not alone in this situation.
