Chapter IX: Meeting the Elites

The four new faces inside our classroom are none other than the Elites that we saw at the arena yesterday. But apart from them, there is another man which I conclude as their members as well.

I felt my face reddened when they remained looking at me as if they are reading my entire soul.

“Uh, good morning, Mr. Hipolito…” Mathilda was the first one to get back on track between us.

"Good morning, Professor Hipolito." I also turned to our professor and greeted him warmly.

He smiled at us before letting us sit. I immediately grabbed my friend's arm and quietly went to our seat. The other girls greeted us as we passed through them.

“Hi, Amaris. Kindly share your beauty to us…” Olivia teases me when we got through her seat. I just smiled at her and greeted her back.

My nervousness and awkwardness somehow reduced when we reached our chairs. But I thought, I finally got my peace when someone spoke up.

"Who is she?" It came from a voice of a woman, and when I looked up, I saw one of the twins.

The beautiful lady with long dark hair was intently looking at me. I don’t know her name, because only Sanya introduced herself to yesterday.

Mr. Hipolito cleared his throat before speaking, "She's the new student, Amaris Atkinsons."

The woman nodded at him before approaching me. I feel like my heart is going to come out from my chest as I watch her walk closer to me. Mathilda looked at me with concerned eyes.

Tension is now building inside me but I manage to smile at her.

“Spare her, Tanya.” If I'm not mistaken, that's Ashton. He was also present at the orientation.

“Chill, I will just ask her something. Do I look like I am going to bite her?” In an instant, the vampire woman is now in front of me.

She's just looking at me without any expression on her beautiful face. She was about to speak when less than a second later, another creature appeared in front of me.

“Don’t you dare continue what you are thinking, Tanya!” said by the unfamiliar man.

He had a pair of lips that was in a form of thin line. His pale skin looked so… right. Yeah!

He is talking to Tanya but his dark eyes were intently looking at me. I lowered my gaze and saw the name imprinted on his badge—Drake Martins.

“You guys are no fun! I'm not yet even doing anything with her and here you are blocking my way!” She harshly pulled away her arm from the grip of this man named Drake.

“Hi. I am Tanya Hopkins!” She introduced herself and held out her hand to shake my hand.

The annoyance in her face a while ago vanished instantly, and was changed by a very sweet smile. I hesitantly turned to Mathilda… I just knew they are not in good terms.

“Uh, h-hello.” I immediately stood up to block her vision. I just don’t want Tanya to see her, which I think that already happened a while ago.

“I am Amaris Atkinsons.” I smiled at her in return as well.

Her cheeks flushed and her mouth form an 'o'. I also turned my gaze to Drake, that until now had his eyes fixed on me. What's his problem?

"And I am Sanya Hopkins!"

Once again, I was startled by the sudden appearance of another creature in front of me. And I was beyond surprise when she pulled me into a tight hug. Behind her stood the rest of what they called Elites who were also looking at me.

"I want to be friends with you," she added before releasing me. "And no buts!"

She gave me a wide smile. I didn't know what to answer, it was as if my tongue suddenly got stucked.

“Hey, don’t worry. I don't bite!” Her laughter echoed the whole room.

Other creatures remain watching us as if a performance is taking place. Mr. Hipolito doesn’t bother to butt in as well.

"Do not involve Amaris in your foolishness, Sanya!" I felt Mathilda's tight grip on my arm as she pulled me away from them. She is now standing behind me.

The smile on Sanya's lips immediately faded.

“Shut up, witch! You are not even a part of the conversation!” That was Tanya, giving deathly glares to my friend.

"Amaris will decide if she wants to be friends with us, not you!” she added as she pulled my other hand.

“Oh, really? Do you think I don't know what's going on in your brains?” Mathilda hissed, still not releasing her grip on me.

Are they fighting? Their grips are now getting tighter.

"And Amaris doesn't want to be friends with b*tches like you!" Mathilda added that made my eyes widened.

Oh my gosh! I think, Mathilda needs to control her mouth. We don’t want to be in trouble now.

“You are being judgmental, witch! Did we already do something, huh?” Sanya irritatingly butted in.

Their voices are getting louder and I don’t like that.

“Your blood keeps boiling on us, Mathilda. Hmm…” She slowly walks closer and stops when she was in front of Mathilda.

“You haven’t move on, yet?" She grinned at her.

“Move on, your ass!” I could feel the restraint in her voice.

Tanya teasingly smiled at her. “You don't even know the real story, yet until now you are still holding grudges against us!”

“Hey, girls. Chill!” The guy named Stephan finally decided to interfere.

"OH, SHUT UP!" The three ladies shout in unison that almost made us jump.

That's rude. There is no need to shout.

I just want to sit down and let them talk. Or go out first and wait for them to finish. I suddenly lost my enthusiasm today. There was something painful in my heart as I listened to their arguments.

I have never heard Mamita and Mr. Bear talk like this. I have always longed to hear and interact with other creatures but not a situation like this.

"Uh, c-can you both now let go of my arms?” I said in a soft voice, just enough for them to hear me.

I immediately caught their attention.

"Oh, s-sorry!"

"F*ck! I'm sorry, Amaris!"

They instantly released their grips. My both arms were now red but I don’t want to make it a big deal anymore. I just hope Mamita won’t notice it later.

“Please, stop fighting. This won’t do any good to all of you,” I said calmly.

I gave them a faint smile. The day had just started but I feel like I got drained already.

No one had the courage to talk. My classmates were gaping at me, like I've said something… uh, forbidden? Is there something wrong?

“Can I sit down too?" I am trying all my luck now.

The Elites didn’t hesitate to nod their head, and that’s my cue to exit from the scene. I turned to Mathilda and she was a little surprised to see me looking at her.

“Let’s sit, Mathilda. That’s enough.” I gently smiled at her.

She willingly returned to her seat, while the others remained standing in front. No one was moving, until someone speak up.

"I'm sorry for the mess they've cause," the guy named Drake said before going back to his seat as well.

The twins remained as they stare at me.

Tanya heaved a sigh. “I s-still want to be friends with you,” she said before turning her back at me.

I watched her march back to where she had sat earlier. I felt the movement of the chair on my left side and saw Sanya sitting there.

"C-can I sit here, Amaris?" She hesitantly smiled at me. Gone the proud woman I just witnessed yesterday. I want to believe that that was a different person.

I just nodded at her, that’s a school property at all. Everyone can sit wherever they want as long as it is available.

"Thanks, God!" I heard someone whispered in relief.

That's Olivia, who is sitting five chairs away from us. When did she change her seat though? The others were sighing with relief.

The whole room was once again in silence. Everyone is sitting in their respective seats except our professor who was standing quietly in front. I could see the hesitation from his face.

I was about to get up to approach him, when someone grab my arm.

"Where are you going? What will you do?" Mathilda whispered with a hint of anxiousness in her voice.

I confusedly look at her. “I will apologize to Mr. Hipolito and give him a kiss on his cheek? Why?” I elaborate to her what I am about to do so she won’t ask anymore.

Her eyes widened in disbelief. “Oh, f*ck! You won’t do that! Damn! No way, Amaris!” She tried her best not to shout out of anxiousness.

She pulled me back in my seat once again.

“Why? We should apologize, Mathilda.” Why can’t she get my point? Am I really that hard to understand?

“There is no need to kiss when apologizing, Amaris! Just say sorry and that would be all right. Okay? You must remember that!” Her voice is so low, fortunately I could still hear her.

“I’m stressed!” She pinched the temple of her nose.

“But I am kissing Mamita and Mr. Bear when I am apologizing. I even kissed your cheeks when I said sorry, right?” I am still confused.

That’s what I’m used to, but why is it not allowed? I suddenly got sad. How can they forgive us if we are not sincere?

“That was not applicable to all. I'll explain to you later, okay? Just don't kiss the professor on the cheek!” She face-palmed and I pity her for she looks so troubled. I even saw her rubbing her forehead.

I feel sorry for making her head aches.

"Okay, I understand."

Professor Hipolito decided to start the class after the long interruption, but maybe the world is not yet on his side as of the moment.

A woman appeared in the room, wearing a blue sleeveless dress. With red hair and head held high, she walked in with a relaxed manner. Her brown skin was completely flawless. She has a gentle look on her face and she is undeniably pretty. Just by the look at her, I am sure that she belongs to the clan of werewolves.

“What’s with the silence?” Her voice was soft, pleasant to the ear. She smiled to everyone who greeted her.

“Hi there, Amalia...” Ashton greeted her with a wide grin on his face.

“You are here! I mean, so Marcus is here too?” Tanya asks.

“He is still at the Headmaster’s office.” She scanned the room and immediately stopped when her eyes met mine.

“So we have a new student. Who are you?” That was specifically for me.

I stood up from my chair and genuinely smiled at her. “Hi. I am Amaris Atkinsons.” God, she is really beautiful!

Her hazel brown eyes remained looking at me.

“Hmm. Okay. As if I care…" she whispered the last part but I clearly heard that.

Gradually the smile faded from my lips as she just looked at me from head to toe and then, turned her back flipping her hair.

“Don’t mind, Amalia. She is a b-tch pretending to be a saint…” Sanya whispered.

I just smiled at her before getting back on my seat. Just like Mamita said, not all the creatures I meet will like and treat me well.
