70__Breaking Bonds
The tension in the room was thick and heavy as Viktor and Rogan stared at each other.
“I was telling your bride how eager I was to have you here,” Rogan said darkly.
Viktor’s teeth clenched, a muscle ticking angrily in his jaw. “Kamilla,” he called in a low rumble of a voice. “Come over here.”
Kamilla slowly got up, but hadn't taken a single step when Rogan held up a hand to stop her.
"Why in such a hurry, Viktor? Didn't you come here for *me*? Or was it all for your little mate?" With a slight hiss, Rogan tilted his head. "I'm hurt."
Viktor's glare was sharp as it cut across the room. "Wait your fucking turn, Rogan," he muttered darkly.
"Fuck that!" Rogan growled back. "I've waited centuries for this moment. I'm *done* waiting."
Viktor snarled and Kamilla saw his fangs lengthen when he bared them. "Then I'll just kill you right now!"
Charged with more power and rage than Kamilla had ever seen before, Viktor began to stalk toward Rogan sending Kamilla's heart into a panic.
Without thinking, she hurried up to Viktor, blocking his path with hands firmly in his chest." Viktor, wait! Wait a minute..."
His eyes were so purely green, glowing more powerfully than a witch's spell as he glared at Rogan over her head. "Kamilla, leave. Go and find Damon and stay there."
Shaking her head, Kamilla battled to hold him back. "No, just wait a bit. Let's not do this this way, Viktor, this isn't who you are!"
"Aw, goodness gracious!" yelled Rogan in a sickly sweet voice before throwing back his head with laughter. His chest shook with it as he wiped at his eyes and sassily brushed back his hair. "Oh, man..." He chuckled. "You two are comedy gold."
Kamilla glared at him from over her shoulder and Rogan raised his brows. "What, Kamilla? Don't look at me that way. *I'm* not the one being brainless here."
Kamilla spun around putting her back to Viktor. "Excuse me?"
Rogan's eyes narrowed. "Your words prove it. What? That's not who he is?" Rogan laughed again. "*That*... is exactly who... *what* he is! He's not just any Vampire King, he's an Onyx Vampire King, and they are certified evil, little love. Did you not know?"
Viktor's mouth curved with a shaky scoff. "Rogan..." he said in dark warning.
Rogan only grew bolder, embracing the moment he's always waited for, feeling even more satisfaction than when he'd felt when he killed Darrius with his bare hands.
"Tell her, Viktor," he encouraged, fueling Viktor's anger as much as he could. "Tell her how the blood in your veins is of a monster. Tell her you're of the kind that kills those they claim to love!"
Kamilla felt anger flash through her. "That is not true!"
Rogan chuckled. "Oh, but it is! Just like Darrius claimed to love my mother. Did I tell you that?" he asked, looking up at the ceiling in thought. "Of course, that was before he found out she was an enchantress and not a trueblood, after which he kicked her to the curb, only to return *years* later to fight with her over *me*!" Rogan released a hoarse laugh that shook his shoulders. "He killed her because he didn't want his "son" to be raised into Sorcery." Shaking his head with a laugh, Rogan walked over to his bar when he pulled up drinks along with a wooden case.
Viktor was trembling from all that he was suppressing as he stared at Rogan. "Cut all the bullshit, Rogan! I didn't come here to hear any of that."
"But you will hear it!!" Rogan yelled furiously. He leaned over his bar. "You will listen to every *single* thing I have to tell you and when I am through..." He grinned. "Not even Kamilla will want anything to do with you."
Kamilla's eyes narrowed, her own strength fueled by Viktor's power. "Nothing you ever say will break our bond," she told Rogan.
Scoffing, Rogan looked at her. "It won't. If you're the kind who enjoys being with a sadistic bastard who will eventually kill you. That's your fate," he told them darkly with a contrastingly cheerful laugh. "Sad, isn't it?" With dark eyes swirling, Rogan focused all his sorcerer's power on Viktor and grinned evilly. "Viktor's forgotten, hasn't he? Because he got split in two and the one half has all the sick memories. Forgotten he's a monster. Forgotten how he tore that girl to pieces and murdered her on those rocks..."
Kamilla's heart clenched with panic. "Rogan, please stop..."
"He's forgotten how he loved her enough to give his Vampire King's soul for her and yet, still, he killed her that way!"
"Stop!" screamed Kamilla, looking worriedly back at Viktor. She swallowed hard when Viktor seemed to not react. He blankly stared at Rogan, his eyes a dimmer glow, but the recognition in them what was truly scaring Kamilla.
"That girl you killed... her soul..." murmured Rogan as he opened his case and pulled out a long dagger. "Do you know where it is, Viktor?"
Kamilla was horrified to see Viktor's state as he listened to all Rogan was saying.
Of course. How could she not realize it? Viktor was a far more powerful Vampire than Rogan. Because he was the son of a Vampire King and a Trueblood Queen.
But Rogan... he had powerful powers of magic and sorcery that he could use against Viktor at any time, *also* being the son of a Vampire King as well as a royal enchantress. They were both powerful. Viktor's power was deadly. And Rogan's sorcery was lethal.
Kamilla felt her heart quiver.
She had to get Viktor out of here.
"Her soul..." whispered Rogan hypnotically. "Is in Kamilla."
Her heart arrested with fear, Kamilla watched Viktor's eyes flash a sudden blue, the pupil dilating to fill nearly his whole iris as he stared at Rogan.
Rogan nodded, taking great pleasure in what he was doing. "And just like you killed Emma... you’ll kill Kamilla. That's right, little brother. Is it coming back to you? The women I'd sent who'd weakened you? Emma falling down to that rocky riverside? You remember ripping her neck out?"
"Stop it, you evil jerk!" Kamilla screamed, but Rogan ignored her.
"That's right, Viktor, you did that!! Just as beastly as your father was! And being the sadistic fuck Darrius was, he got Klayton to mate in that poor little girl's family just to betroth you to the same soul by magic."
The words made Kamilla go cold and still.
Rogan smiled. " And you think witches are evil."
"That's..." Kamilla said shakily. "That's absolute bullshit."
Rogan pursed his lips and studied the blade of his dagger. "Well, I get my information straight from my cousins and you know their mother is Ursula. The greatest Enchantress of Cassius, who is also my aunt. I'm not bragging, I swear."
Twirling his dagger, he stepped out from behind his bar and looked at Viktor. “Well? Are you damaged yet? Or do you need more?” Rogan chuckled. “That was your first killing, wasn’t it? How did it feel? Did you feel the dark power course through your soul? Did you finally accept what you are? Vampires are a beautiful specie, but you and your father are nothing but *beasts*.”
Kamilla was trembling while staring at Rogan when she heard, “No, Viktor.”
Turning back to look up at Viktor, Kamilla felt her heart clench at what she saw. His eyes were mesmerizingly split down the middle. Both sides blue, but one light and the other a dark sapphire in a dreamy heterochromic combination. Kamilla could barely breathe, the co-consciousness of Viktor and Charming robbing her of all her breath.
“It was then,” said Rogan gleefully. “That you revealed the monster you’d always concealed within you.”
“Don’t listen to him,” said Charming. Kamilla was stunned at the softly whispered words, she stared up at Viktor’s face in wonder. “He’s lying to you, Viktor.”
“You were nothing but a kid but you tore that little human girl to pieces, ripped her apart like tasty lobster!”
“Don’t you dare listen, Viktor!” Charming whispered fiercely. “It was an accident! You didn’t want to hurt Emma. You loved her! You’re not a monster! Kamilla... help him. I...”
Rogan raised a brow. “What’s that? What are you whispering?”
Kamilla was frozen on the spot, staring up into Viktor’s eyes, witnessing the battle that was raging within him. The dark blue that was Viktor was covering most of his iris now. Kamilla painfully swallowed her tears. Charming was losing the battle. Rogan was getting to Viktor.
She spun on him and glared with green fire in her eyes. “Who are you to talk?!” Kamilla demanded. “If Viktor did the Killing and Emma was killed, where do you fit in? How dare you judge anyone else when you’ve killed countless people over this bullshit—”
“I know what I am!” Rogan roared. “I never deluded myself into thinking I was a fucking saint.”
“It seems you did!” Kamilla told him, breathlessly. “Rena said you treat her like the love of your life. Is that not a claim to love? And a claim to love one whom you’ve kept practically chained up like a damn slave! She loathes you, Rogan and because you seem to have such a big head about it, I’m going to free Rena from your spell just to spite you!”
Rogan threw his head back and laughed. “What? Oh, God, you’re hilarious.” Shaking his head, Rogan pointed a hand towards where Rena lay and with a purple energy glowing in his palm, lifted her and drew her slowly across to them. “I might beat you to that, Kamilla,” he murmured, his face void of expression now. “I do love Rena. And because I love her, I’ll free her.”
Rena hovered before Rogan now and with a brush of his hand over her peaceful face, her lowered her onto her feet and woke her.
Kamilla stared in terror at the dagger in Rogan’s hand, afraid of what he would do. She took a step forward, but Viktor’s hand clamped around her wrist. She looked back at him and saw his gaze focused on Rogan, his eyes a darker blue than she’d ever seen. Kamilla’s heart sunk. Where was Charming?
“Now this,” said Rogan twirling his dagger as Rena slowly blinked to clear her blurry vision. “This is what’s going to free our Rena.”
Her vision and confusion cleared, Rena looked around at them, her face taut with fear. When she saw Kamilla and Viktor, Rena sunk weakly to the floor, turning her fearful gaze to Rogan. “R-Rogan...” she whispered. “...please don’t...”
Kamilla gritted her teeth. “Don’t you dare touch her with that!” She looked at Viktor. “Viktor, Rena never betrayed us! It was Sasha! She told him about Charming! That *cow*, where is she?!”
Despite her words, Viktor’s restraint didn’t ease from Kamilla’s wrist.
“Don’t worry, Rena,” Rogan murmured, looking gently down at Rena. I made this blade a century ago for a day like today. It’s enchanted to break a bond like ours, little love. When it touches your blood, you’ll be free from the bond. Are you ready, Rena?”
Rena was trembling in fear as she stared up at the dagger. “I’ll die...”
Rogan blinked. “Well... of course. That’s what being free from me is. Death.”
Kamilla’s heart gave a lurch. “No. No! Rogan, don’t! I *swear* I’ll make you pay if you hurt her! Why don’t you just stop?! Nobody has to die because of your grudge!”
Rogan’s mouth curved and he let out another laugh before looking at Kamilla and letting his smile slip away to be replaced by a dark stare. Looking at her, Rogan raised his arm, dagger sharp and pointed at Rena’s chest.
With a gasp, Kamilla ripped her arm away from Viktor and dove forward just as Rogan’s dagger sliced down.
Viktor’s heart slammed with panic. “Kamilla!”
