CH 68 The market

"There is something, I was wondering you could help me with" I asked Damon
"Anything for you, baby" he answered with a smirk, I just rolled my eyes
"I have some stuff I need to buy" I told him feeling a little awkward
"What do you need? I'll go get it for you" Damon kissed the top of my head
"No Damon I think I should go, or rather both of us" I pleaded
"Ok? So mortal world?" Damon asked me, I just chuckled
"No I don't think the mortal world will stock this stuff" I proceeded to pull out the list from my pocket and handed it to my mate, he read through it and looked at me, I looked away in shame, being a witch wasn't bad, not really, but buying this stuff and brewing potions just felt wrong and I can't even explain why.
"There's a shop we can go to" Damon mentioned I looked at him searching his face to see how he felt, he was smiling
"You don't mind? Taking me I mean?" I asked
"Of course not" he told me bringing me in for a hug "why would I mind?"
"I don't know, it's weird, I'm a witch, brewing potions, doing spells, I don't want you to feel scared, Damon, I'm only getting this stuff because there are empty jars in there, I don't know what this stuff...." I would've carried on talking but Damon kissed me, stopping my talking
"I don't fear you" Damon whispered when the kiss stopped "I love you Anastasia, I love how you're becoming a great queen and how you're learning to be a great witch, I fear you as much as you fear me" he smiled, I kissed him again, my hands laced around his neck and played with his hair, Damons arms laced around my waist, his hands played with the hem of my t-shirt making me moan into his mouth, I needed to breath so I reluctantly ended the kiss, my forehead lay on my vampires chest and he leaned his chin on the top of my head, his arms stayed around my waist and my hands were now wrapped around his torso.
I heard voices, lots of different people talking, I could also smell different smells, smoke, fish and chips, I lifted my head to see we were standing in a new place, I looked around moving away from my mate to do so
"Welcome to the unitaur Market" Damon announced as he moved back a little and put out his arms, he smiled at me and I smiled too as I looked around
"I smell chips" I told him as I sniffed the air
"Yep, Al makes great fish and chips" my mate told me walking to me again and holding my hand "come on" Damon started running fast, but still at human speed, it was too crowded for him to run at vampire speed, I was laughing as I purposefully ran slower, pulling him
"Damon stop" I laughed, my mate stopped straight away and turned around we were outside the fish and chips shop
"The best fish and chips in the coven" Damon told me as he dragged me inside
"Good evening welcome to Als" the woman behind the counter greeted
"Hi can we get one please" Damon ordered
"Certainly sir, would you like to eat in or eat out?" She asked, Damon looked at me
"We'll eat in please" I told her, she nodded and started making the portion of fish and chips,
"Would you like salt and vinegar?" She asked me
"Yes please, extra vinegar" I smiled she smiled to
"You can sit down, I'll bring it" Damon told me, I nodded and found a table by the window, it was a small square table with only two chairs, perfect for Damon and I.
Damon came with a plate, I rubbed my hands together before I dug in, I moaned at how good the chips tasted Damon laughed at me and shook his head, he sat with his arms crossed on the table, his knees touching mine underneath the table
"What?" I asked with a smile
"I never imagined a queen would be happy with food like this, I always thought of royals wanting grand food" I shrugged at him
"Grand food is overrated, unless its covered in real gold, food is food, no matter what it is" I told him as I put another chip in my mouth "when I went to India, in the mortal world, we bought food from street vendors, it wasn't the most hygienic food but it tasted amazing" I added
"Yeah but that was before you found out you were the queen, don't you want to eat at posh restaurants? Wear the most expensive clothes? Live in a castle?"
"Mmm, the way I see it, you need food for energy, sustenance, it doesn't matter how much it cost as long as it fills you up, same with clothes, as long as your clothes cover you it doesn't matter what they cost, and as for a castle, I have the best castle, in the world" Damon furrowed his eyebrows at this, I smiled "my castle is where you are" I rectified to which my mate laughed "I need a drink" I told him with a sweet smile, Damon rolled his eyes and stood up to get me a drink whilst I carried on eating
"Is this seat taken?" I heard someone ask I looked up to see a man with food in his hand
"Uhh yeah, sorry my mate has just gone to get a drink
"Well he's not here" the man sat down, I furrowed my eyebrows at him
"You need to move sir, my mate will be back" I told him
"I don't see another plate here, what your mate wasn't hungry?" He said like he was talking to a baby "look I'm not here to cause any problems, there's no room that's why I came here"
"Is there a problem here?" Damon was back
"This man just sat down he won't move"
"Oh hey could you get me a water?" The man asked my mate, I stood up now getting angry
"Get up right now" I seethed
"Anastasia calm down" Damon told me
"Yeah Anastasia calm down" the man laughed I was getting annoyed
"Come on let's find another table" Damon offered
"Good luck, no tables left" the man smiled
"Baby just eat your food" Damon said as he looked around
"What about you?" I asked him still really annoyed, Damon just shrugged not really knowing what to say, I huffed, I picked up my plate and walked towards the counter,
"Anastasia wait, where are you going?"
"Hi, I changed my mind, can I get this packed to go please?" I asked the lady at the til
"Of course your majesty, is everything ok?" She sounded scared
"Yeah, everything's fine" I smiled at her, she proceeded to pack it up for me
"Not very good service is it? I asked you for a water" the man that had sat at my table accused Damon, Damon looked around then pointed at himself as if to say 'you talking to me?' "Yes you, where's my water?"
"Um sir he doesn't work here, he's a customer, like you" the lady behind the til told him
"I don't care, get me a water" the man was shouting at this point
"I'm sorry your majesty, here you go" the woman handed me my food
"Wait, majesty?" The man looked at me
"Queen Anastasia of the seven kingdoms" I told the man, I nearly laughed as the blood drained from his face "Let's go" I said looking at Damon
"You ok?" My mate asked me as he held my hand
"Mhm" I told him, I was calm, I just didn't like how the man had spoken to me, but he was using the same tone for others, I knew I couldn't change people, I wasn't even going to try
"It's here" Damon pulled me out of my thoughts, we stood in front of a shop called 'the cauldron' I smiled at the name, we walked in and a little bell above the door notified the staff they had customers, there were shelves stacked with jars of different things, there was a shelf of books on astrology, there was a tub with voodoo dolls
"Welcome to the cauldron, may I help you?" A woman behind the counter greeted me,
"Hi yes I have a list, I was wondering if you stocked this stuff" I told her pulling the list out of my pocket, the woman read over the list, she looked at me with curiosity then looked at the list again
"What are you making?" She asked me
"Oh, I'm not making anything, just stocking up" I told her she smiled and she seemed to sigh in relief, she came round the counter and walked to the door, she picked up a wicker basket and proceeded to walk around the store looking for items on my list
"So is this your first time? I've not seen you around" the woman asked me, not moving her eyes off the jars she was looking at
"Yes I only just got initiated, I'm learning the craft" I shrugged not knowing what else to say, but the woman seemed happy with my explanation. Once she had everything in the basket she checked the list again, happy that she hadn't missed anything she led us to the til, she scanned everything and put it all in a bag
"Your total is thirty shilling" the woman announced as she handed me the bag, Damon pulled out his wallet and took out some notes that were red, and white, next to the number was a symbol of a star, Damon handed the money over and we left the store
"I should get a job" I thought out loud
"You're the queen" Damon reminded me
"So? That doesn't mean I don't need money, I can't keep using your money that's not fair on you"
"I like spending money on you" Damon smiled I just rolled my eyes.
We hung around the market, Damon insisted on carrying everything we bought, we didn't buy much I felt guilty spending his money, so we bought mostly food items, spices, and herbs for my food.
Once we got home I separated the ingredients making sure that the herbs and spices stayed in the kitchen and the potion ingredients were put near the painting, I had a smile on my face as I put away the spices
"Why do you look so happy?" Damon asked me
"These spices are going to be great in my food" I told him happily, he just smiled and shook his head.
We went to bed that night and I actually slept, last night was just a fluke, when I woke up the next morning Damon wasn't there, I guessed he was at work.
After breakfast I took the stuff I had bought at the market into the painting, and put it all away, it took me less than ten minutes, I left the painting I decided to cook an Indian dish today, once I had finished cooking I phoned Charlie
"Hello?"
"Hi Charlie, are you busy?" I asked him not wanting to disturb him
"No Anastasia, what's up?"
"I need a job" I told him "how do I get one?" Charlie started laughing
"You're the queen, why do you need a job?" He laughed, I rolled my eyes at him, although he couldn't see me
"I don't get paid to be queen, Charlie" I told him in a duh tone "can you help, or not?" I asked him
"Meet me at the library in five minutes" Charlie told me before we hung up, I dressed in a blue t-shirt and jeans, and blinked to the library, Charlie came less than a minute later
