Chapter 29

The best part of the drive was silent, perfectly silent. Ryan just drives, minding her business, but not anywhere close to her phone, she barely escaped from the first one.

As she cast several side glances at Melissa, she wondered what would be going on in her mind. The redhead's countenance was barely happy or neutral, it looks extremely sad.

Her heart almost melted and she was about to take her back before she remembered Molly broke the same heart, simply because Melissa got admission into the same school.

Their gaze locked, and they removed it instantly, not sparing a moment.

"You don't look good," Ryan said as she pulled over to her garage, she killed the engine and stepped out "If you want to opp-out you can".

"It's not about quitting" Melissa followed her into the house "I have never dance in front of so many men around".

Ryan exhaled, she knew that would be a problem as what she heard about Melissa. All her good girl stuff, how long it took her to fall for Molly.

" Do you take alcohol?" She asked.

Melissa scoffed "I get intoxicated. And when that happens, I do wide things".

Ryan smiled as the door of the elevator open to her flat, She caught the amused reaction on Melissa's face.

" I know you didn't see it well when you ran out that morning still tipsy" She dropped her bag and walked to her cabinet  "And yes! I know you don't also look good when drunk".

She brought out a bottle of rose and three glass cups, filled two, and let the other empty.

"So what are we toasting to?" Melissa asked as she took the filled cup from Ryan.

"To not getting drunk I gest" Ryan glimmered, she followed the red hair's gaze to the last cup "just for a friend of mine I will love you to meet, I won't want to get up when I start".

Melissa just smiled, she raised the cup over her head a little bit, showing it to Ryan. Even when the idea about Ryans' friend doesn't seem to be a good thing but she also doesn't seem to be scared or uncomfortable.

The things that had made her scared or uncomfortable, in general, feel bad already occurred. When she was little, without a father, she fear that her mother would leave one day if she never did anything bad.

Not until Nikolas came and changed everything!

Just as he changed everything wasn't enough, he also stabbed her trust. He let her into college to abandon her, to leave her vulnerable and pathetic. Pathetic enough to grant Molly the privilege of ruining her life and render her completely hapless.

She quickly poured the drink into her mouth and present her cup for another, without hesitation, Ryan refilled it.

Although they cheered to not getting drunk, if getting drunk was would make her visit to her new boss less humiliating, she would be happy to drink the whole of Ryan's cabinet.

She smiled bitterly as the first taste of the spirits wash through her throat. Although she loves alcohol she wasn't still good at it, she wasn't yet used to the harsh taste, the headache, the pain it increases and so the memories it failed to remove.

Ryan on the contrary had been on her phone all along. Intensively typing, typing, and typing what Melissa refused to pay attention to. She dropped her drink, got closer to Melissa with her hair held up, urging her to unzip her dress.

"Would you love to change into something sexy?"She wiggled "You won't want to give your new boss a boring look".

Melissa smile, she wasn't going to argue the same as she doesn't want to look like a slot but she also doesn't want to lose this opportunity. She nodded, with a toothy grin.

She was about trying to be open, like talk about bee new job or something else before the door opened unannounced. A very beautiful woman walked in, her stern face shows how elegant her long face was.

The woman looked so professional that Melissa thought she might be a banker or teacher. With an odd smirk on her face, the lady waved at her.

"My name is Rosie" the woman filled the last cup "I'm Ryan's?".

"Friend" Ryan quickly said, "So Rosie meet Melissa, the beautiful girl I told you about".

Melissa smiled, she stood up to shake hands with Rosie who ignored her. With her hand still hanging out, she laughed, emptied her cup, and rushed after Ryan who was already walking into her room.

"Getting something that would fit me won't be much of a problem," She said "I can assume we both were the same size".

Ryan smiled, she opened her closet with a proud smile on her face. She noticed Melissa scoffed as she walked closer, her arms behind her, resting on her butt.

" When you walk like that you remind me of my grandmother" Ryan tried to involve Melissa in a conversation.

"You don't mean it" Melissa giggled.

Ryan smiled, she winked an eye at Rosie who was standing beside the open door. Their idea of been open and friendly to Melissa would likely work as Melissa had been talking since her last statement.

   Or, maybe they failed!
Melissa seems slightly drunk or was she just acting out of frustration?

"She had freckles too" Ryan brought out two dresses from the closet "The only difference is that she doesn't have your color of hair".

She handed Melissa the yellow dress as she pulled off her gown, she smirked as Melissa looked away from her.

"This would fit you" She stepped out of the dress "You are just so fucking innocent".

Melissa's expression lit into an amused one, she returned the yellow dress and took the black one Ryan had.

"I prefer brown, red, or Black" She stripped"I might on comfortable around you because I am into girls".

Rosie cleared her throat as she walked closer, she seems to get interested in what Melissa had just said. If she is literally into girls, then why does she keep on been attached to Williams or why is Williams attracted to her.

Except she is one thing, the thing she despises so much.

"Are you bi?" Her face showed so much disgust and hate, she registered the annoyance in Melissa's face and she faked a smile "I hardly find bisexuals except Ryan".

In return Melissa helped Ryan zip her dress, still in her undies, she checked how the dress would fit in front of the mirror. She doesn't need to ask if she could wear it, the pleasant look on Ryan's face uttered all she needed to say.

She up on the clothes, her experience uncertain and her mood shaggy. She stepped back into her shoes.

"So what are we up to" Ryan looked at Rosie "I have called him, and he seemed to agree without even seeing her".

Melissa felt confused, the way they talked about her felt creepy like she was some kind of merchandise. Another funny thought occupied her confused mind, she touched her face then her hair.

"What if he doesn't like me when he finally sees me" She blurted out "What if he hates my freckles and red hair".

Ryan and Rosie's exchange looks, they started at Melissa speechless for a while before Ryan began to laugh, it first started like a chuckle, a dry one without humor.

" You remind me of Raven in x-men," She said "At first how she was just confused and ashamed of her blue nature and res hair".

   "You think I'm odd too?".

" You don't get the point Melissa" Ryan almost yells out of frustration "Your difference makes you special. You know how often people talk about my brown skin?".

Melissa shook her head, she suddenly began to avoid Ryan's gaze, if anyone had complained it would be her, she knows how hard it is to walk free in the street of Chicago or date a white man without been discriminated against because of her brown skin color.

" Now you get it" Ryan smiled at Rosie, she was wasn't even sure of who she was referring to but the both of them got her point "I always find my way out of everything".

That was also for the both of them, she watch Melissa gives herself the courage she thinks she requires as she nodded gently to what Rosie was saying.

"Time to get this working" Rosie whispered"You don't know how I love to see girls get motivated," she said that loud enough for Melissa to hear.

Ryan cleared her throat awkwardly, she walked briskly to the door, she touched Rosie's shoulder on her way out.

"Be conscious of your intake of alcohol" She frowned "It won't be nice to drag your drunk ass home".

Rosie giggled, she knew Ryan wasn't referring to the drink but what she just mumbled made sense to her.

Melissa walked with her shoulders high, if she was going to feel shy the cups of Rosey she took must have been working.

"Who is ready to have a celebration selfie" Ryan brought up her phone, she wiggled at Rosie's revolted face. Before she could finish talking, Melissa had posed for a picture.

"I can snap you both" Rosie said as she took Ryan's phone "You much me kidding Brownie" She whispered harshly.
