Killed

"Heavens! How could this be? Those wolves ran away and they are not just wolves but human beings too. I need to get going." Detective Jason Berly replied.

"Where are you heading off to?" Officer Mary asked him as she watched him leave the seat.

"To the city, I need to go after those works before they cause something worse and do dreadful things." Detective Jason Berly replied.

"But shouldn't you wait and get approval from the lieutenant first?" Officer Mary asked.

"Mary there's no time for that. Lives are in danger and at risk, I can't delay and waste any more second again! I'm not ready to be blamed for putting so many lives at risk." Detective Jason Berly said to Officer Mary.

"Okay I agree with you but talking to the lieutenant won't spare much time, just tell him and leave or better still, I can tell him about it while you leave." Officer Mary replied.

"Good, you do just that while I leave now." Detective Jason Berly replied.

"But wait…please don't put your life at risk babe…I'll ask the lieutenant to send you backups okay?" Officer Mary said to him as she got scared of him putting his life in danger by going after such creatures.

"Thanks, I will take care of myself." He replied to her.

"I love you." She said to him,

"I love you too." Detective Jason Berly replied to Ed as he took his leave immediately, running out of the control room at full speed.

Mary closed her eyes as she folded her knuckles into her palm, believing her chin as she said a short prayer for detective Jason Berly.

Jason hopped into his personal car as he started the engine. He started it and drove off immediately, booming out of the compound of the police station.

Jason had forgotten to pick up his walkie talkie after he took it off and dropped it on the table in the control room.

"Shit!" He exclaimed as he hit the steering board with frustration of forgetting to pick it up as he remembered when he dropped it. He had wanted to call the lieutenant and told him of his move when he noticed that it wasn't with him.

He reached out for his personal phone and dialed the lieutenant's number but he wasn't picking up. He called again thrice but he didn't pick up.

"Must be busy or not near the phone." He said to himself as he sped along the roads, blaring his horn to drivers who weren't driving with speed and booking his way. He saw a large crowd running wild and cars jamming each other. He looked for where to work and observed the area when he saw people in blood lying on the floor.

He came out of his car and rushed towards where the scene happened. He couldn't see clearly because of the noise that the people created. He asked passersby what was going on in the front but he couldn't get any reasonable information.

"A wolf is attacking children at the playground in front of the school." One young man said to him and ran away. People took out their phones to snap pictures while some went live on social media. On seeing how the crowd went wild and how people took advantage of the situation, it angered him as he cursed some of their phones while he made his way.

The school security stopped people from getting into the school. Detective Jason Berly didn't have to struggle his way through as he was already identified as a police officer and needed not to even show them his police identification card. He rushed into the scene and was at the cross line when he engaged a security agent in a small talk.

"I'm detective Jason Berly from the police department, LCPD. I heard what's happening in the school, how did the wolves get in and how many are there?" Detective Jason Berly asked the security man.

"The wolves are three, we don't know how they got in, we just heard shouts from the classrooms and saw the attack on the kids." The security guard explained to Jason Inna a summarized version as he shouted at the rows to step back. Parents were crying to save their children but they weren't allowed in.

Detective Jason Berly immediately took out his cell phone and called Mary, asking her to send back ups immediately and call for an ambulance.

Jason forced his way into the school compound as he headed for where the scene was taking place. He went towards where the noise was very loud with the screams and cries of teachers and students. Some managed to run out of the school while some were trapped as a fire broke out.

Jason went round the building of the school and saw how children were flinged from the window as they were either having parts of their bodies separated, dead while some were alive as they fell to the ground and died, breaking their heads. Jason had a disgusting countenance on his face as he watched how blood gushed out from the bodies of the students and teachers. Some of them were dead with their heads separated from their necks.

Jason knew that he couldn't handle such a situation alone and checked his phone again, sending a voicemail to the lieutenant whose phone was still not going through. Jason couldn't wait any longer as people kept saying in their numbers. He entered the school building and climbed the stairs halfway. Removing his gun out of his pocket, he cocked it and opened the classroom door where the wolves were attacking students.

He started to shoot at the wolves but they only dodged it and made for him as they pushed him to the floor, aiming for his neck to kill him. He tried to fight for his life with two hands as he tore the mouth of one of the wolves by pulling each jaws far apart from the other.

Jason saw another wolf coming towards his direction as he used his leg to kick it off with his boots but he was too feeble for them as it bit him on his leg. Blood gushed out as he writhed in pain but didn't allow that to stop him from fighting. He spotted his gun that was not too far from arm's length but it was also at the leg of the other wolf. He stretched out his fingers to pick it up and just as he was about to reach out to it, the wolf turned and jumped on top of his face.

He tried to fight against them but he was left scratched from their claws as his flesh was revealed on his right cheek. He reached out for his fan and fired at the one on top of him which he shot dead. Just then, he heard the cops bursting into the classroom and opening fire on the remaining one that was still alive. It only managed to escape through the windows as it climbed its way up to the roof. People from outside could see it as the other cops who were outside opened fire on it but it had just escaped.

Detective Jason Berly was helped from the ground to his feet by two cops as they spotted him on his back. He was escorted out of the school building as he was carried onto a stretcher and taken into the ambulance. He was badly injured and was bleeding from everywhere including his stomach. Mary rushed to him in the ambulance as he was put on oxygen and rushed to the hospital while another ambulance came by.

Mary went to the hospital with detective Jason as he was almost passing out. She had tears in her eyes as she kept on regretting and blaming herself for his predicament.

"Ma'am, stop blaming yourself for his predicament. It wasn't your fault such a thing happened to him." The ambulance driver said to her as he watched her cry through the upper rear mirror and heard her while she cried.

"It's my fault…if only I stopped him…if only I acted fast…" Officer Mary kept on crying and blaming herself which left the driver and the assistant to be surprised and curious to know why she was blaming herself.

"But I don't get it, how is it your fault? What did you do?" The assistant asked her as he turned his neck to look at her.

"He told me he was going to capture the wolves on his own before calling for backup…I should have stopped him but I left him alone to go and do it…" Officer Mary cried.

"Come on woman, that shouldn't be the reason why you should be crying. Whatever that happened wasn't your fault…he's going to be alright okay? Stop crying…he'll be just fine. He looks like a strong person…he's a man and wouldn't love to watch you cry " The driver encouraged her as he comforted her and it worked, her cries turned to silent whimpering.

They arrived at the hospital and detective Jason Berly was quickly brought down from the ambulance on the stretcher that he was laid on. The stretcher was stretched as the wheels were opened and detective Jason Berly was wheeled in a rush to the emergency ward. People gave them space as their road was cleared until they got into the accident and emergency section. By then, detective Jason Barely had already lost consciousness.

The nurse told officer Mary to wait outside while he was wheeled in to be cleaned and dressed up.

Officer Mary sat on the bench that was kept outside the emergency ward as she waited patiently but with a worried heart. He silently prayed for Jason to get a quick recovery. She couldn't imagine losing Jason to a wolf bite. What would happen to him if he got infected? What would happen to their love? She had always dreamed of marrying the man of her dreams. What would happen to the man in her life now? She cried on all these thoughts as tears flowed down her cheeks. She looked at her engagement ring and remembered the times that she'd spent with him, all the happy moments and everything as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand as she admired her engagement ring.
