Surprise

"Shit!" Officer Mary exclaimed.

"Sorry about that please. Can I ask for a favour from you?" Mara asked her. Officer Mary looked at her up and down as though she eas speechless and not expecting her to say that.

"After everything that happened you still want me to do you a favour?" Officer Mary questioned Mara.

"Won't you help me? I thought that was why you were here… to help me." Mara said to officer Mary.

"Help you? You don't even look like someone who is in need of help. You are perfectly alright to go and help your own kind. Stay out of my lane and business." Officer Mary warned as she got up to leave.

"Wait wait…are you just leaving like that?" Mara asked her.

"No, I'm sitting to have another round of conversation with you." Officer Mary said to her.

"Aren't you going to help me rescue him? Look, I promise that we will bring an end to everything going on. He has the power to send all werewolves back to their earth so please have mercy just this once and help me please…" She begged officer Mary.

"You said he was powerful so why can't he save himself?" Officer Mary asked her.

"Please…his powers are being drained away in that place. Please I beg you to help him get out of there please…I bought you wanted to help…I thought you came all the way here this late to render help to me. Will you just leave without doing that?" Mara asked her.

"Dont try to play the victim here. I was victimized too, I nearly lost my man as a result of everything. Look, has unknown you ere a werewolf and a relative to that man or wolf or whatever, I wouldn't have even have the slightest thought of helping you. In fact, I'd have made sure to hurt you so please just let me leave while I'm still calm." Officer Mary asked her.

"Please I beg you. You are my only savouur right now and I'll forever worship you. I'll tell him you are the one who is going to save him and he'll forever acknowledge you. Please just do this…just this once please…more like returning a favour?" Mara said to her.

"Hnh…you want me to return the favor that your husband did to me or rather, us by saving him? What about his sister that is kept on the hospital, aren't you scared that I will tell on her or hurt her? Why did you ignore her and focus on him alone? Is your love one sided?" Officer Mary asked her.

"Please don't say that. I care about her too and I'm also coming for her when he is rescued. She is a human being like you and anyone else so there won't be any problem with her staying there but my husband, he may even get killed." Mara explained to her.

"Why would he be killed when he is being weaponized? I assure you that he wint be dead so just calm down and chill." Officer Mary said to her.

"My dad is a powerful man and that demon of Aaron has joined forces with him to eliminate Reagan." Mara said to officer Mary.

"What do you mean by that? Your dad is againgst your husband too?" Officer Mary asked her.

"Yes, more like it. I got to know lately that he allowed me to get married to him because it was a faster way to eliminate him and he hold of his position." Mara saod to her.

"So what dobyoy want me to do for you?" Officer Mary asked after a short minute of silence.

"I need you to try and convince the lieutenant to discharge my husband…that will be difficult because my dad has rubbed him off so I'll need you and your husband to be on my side and let's do this together." Mara said to him.

"We are not yet married…just engaged." Officer Mary pointed out.

"I'm sorry about that. What's his name then?" Mara asked her.

"Jason…detective Jason Berly." Officer Mary said to her.

"Okay, you see, he is even a detective. Please will you do this for me?" Mara said to her.

"Who is there? Mara! Mara!" A voice called out from outside which sounded like that of a man.

"Who's that?" Officer Mary asked as she got scared at how the voice sounded.

"That is my dad. You need to leave now!" Mara said to officer Mary.

"What? How can I leave when he is coming through the door? Just hide me elsewhere!" Officer Mary suggested.

"That won't work because he will still find you." Mara said to her.

"How will he find me in this big room? Don't you have somewhere secure to put me in before he leaves?" Officer Mary asked her.

"It still won't work because he has a great sense of smell, he will perceive that there is a human in this room." Mara replied to her.

"Then what do we do?" Officer Mary asked her back.

"You know what? Come with me." Mara said to her as she went towards the window.

"Climb the bed and get on it." Mara said to her.

"Are you insane? You want me to jump this high? Don't you know it's suicidal?" Officer Mary asked her.

"Trust me, you won't die. Okay see, let me find a rope and see if you will be able to get through it down." Mara said as she searched all over the oom for a rope but found one.

"I can't get any rope." Mara said to officer Mary.

"Then what now? Do you have thick bed sheets?" Officer Mary asked her.

"Yes, why?" Mara asked her.

"Tie them up together and I can use that as a rope to climb down." Officer Mary said to Mara.

"Is that a good idea?" Mara asked her.

"Mara…" The voice called again as it was now closer.

"We don't have time, come on!" Officer Mary said to her as she helped her in tying the bed sheets together, forming a long rope and throwing one of its edges out through the window and tied the other edge to the bed stand as she watched officer Mary climb down safely and waved at her.

"Be safe." Mara whispered to her as officer Mary looked at her and saw the care and sympathy in her eyes. She ran off.

"Hey! Who are you?" Someone asked her as she was just in the compound. Without stopping, she hastened her steps and ran quickly.

"I said stop! Stop right there!" The person said to her as he chased her but she was faster. She got out of the building through the gates when the can driver saw her.

"Madam…over here." He said to her,

"Quick, drive! drive!! drive!!!" She screamed at him as she pulled over with the car front door opened and she hopped in. Before the security who was chasing after her could catch up as he just came out of the gate, they had driven off.

"Thanks for that." She said to the cab driver as she thanked him and breathed deeply.

"Okay…what was chasing after you?" The cab driver asked her.

"I almost got caught. He saw me and came after me but I lost him in the building." She said to him,

"Who was that?" He asked her.

"A security I guess." She said to him,

"That was quick." He said to her,

"Yeah…just drive…I need to get back on time." She said to the cab driver as they remained quiet throughout the drive after which she alighted and went into the premises of the hospital after she had given him his money and he also gave her back her complete change but she tipped him a little bit.

She took a long breath as she reached Jason's ward before going in. She pushed against the door when she noticed it was locked and remembered that she had locked it earlier.

She searched for the key in her jacket but couldn't find it. She rumaged through her little purse but still couldn't find it. She tried to think of where she must have kept it or where it would have been when she remembered her things falling to the ground when she missed her step and tripped on the stairs.

She then remembered picking up her keys when her fingers rested on the balcony of the stairs and that was when she realized it must have dropped off to the last stairs when she heard a noise but the voice that called behind her which was Mara distracted her.

She immediately freaked out as she wondered what to do. She took out her phone to call Mara and ask her if she could bring the key to her along the road when she remembered that she was stopped from leaving the house and guarded.

She didn't know what to do. She checked her phone and saw that it was past two am in the morning. The only thing she could do right now was to call Jason and ask him to use the spare key in the locker or she meets the people responsible for the services of the hospital.

She didn't want to wake him up so she had no choice but to go downstairs to the receptionist and ask for another spare key or help to open the door.

She ran down the stairs to the receptionist who was on duty and requested for another key. She was told that they had no extra keys unless they break down the door. Officer Mary knew that it was going to cause great noise but that was the only option that she had as she couldn't go back to that mansion that housed werewolves.

The door lock was screwed open ans she could go in. She went over to Jason who was still deeply asleep. She went to the locker to drop her coat that she had removed when Jason called out to her.

"Where did you go to?" She was scared as she turned to look at him as he spoke to her. His eyes were closed as though he wasn't the one that was speaking to her.

"Where have you been? Where are you coming from this late?" He asked her again and this time, he opened his eyes to look at her.

"I…I went to get some coffee…" She said to him as she shuttered in her speech.

"Tell me the truth. Where are you coming from?" Detective Jason asked her again.

"I just said to you that I went to get some coffee…" Officer Mary repeated herself to him.

"With jacket on?" He asked her, now fully awake.

"Erm…yes I was feeling cokd that's why I took it along with me." She said to him still feeling nervous.

"Are you lying to me? Who unscrewed the door? For how many hours did you go to get the coffee and where is it?" He asked her as he pointed out details that she can't afford not to explain.
