Chapter 18 - Incurable hunger.
She had tried to ignore so many things.
First, the fact that she and Nicholas were not only going to be in the same resort for four days, but also because they would be alone. Their rooms were right in front of each other.
It was as if fate or some weird force was conniving to get them together.
Cara didn't like it.
She didn't like whatever it was that was going on at all.
She had spent a considerable amount of time holed up in her room while she waited for the dinner that Mr Kurosaki was hosting.
While she stayed in the room she had made a few calls. She had called Malory, her wedding planner and she had reluctantly called Alex.
Just to let them know she was already in New Jersey.
Malory wanted to know how she was doing and she had told Cara to have fun. Cara doubted she would be having any fun and not worrying about something happening between her and Nicholas every day she was going to spend at the resort.
She unpacked her bags and tried to do some work but she couldn't really focus with the thought of Nicholas running around the resort shirtless in her mind.
No matter how hard she tried to push away thoughts of him, they just kept coming back.
As the time for the dinner drew closer.
Cara changed into the dress she had brought. A black slinky wrap bodycon dress with tiny straps and she paired with a pair of silver strappy heels.
The dress was sexy. It was exactly what she had in mind but if she had known Nicholas would be at the resort perhaps she would have packed something different. She thought as she looked at the plunging neckline of the dress.
She decided that she didn't care and she would wear the dress anyways.
She didn't get it because of him.
She brushed her hair and took her time to style it and then applied very light eye makeup while going for a bold red lipstick.
She checked her time and saw that she only had about a minute more before the dinner started.
She was almost ready.
If not ready already.
She added a couple of accessories and she sprayed on one of her best perfumes, Coco Mademoiselle by Chanel.
She was still looking through her phone when there was a brief knock on her door.
She wondered who it was, she thought as she walked towards the door.
It could be room service, she told herself as she opened the door and found Nicholas waiting and looking at her at the other end of the door in his tuxedo.
He cleaned up nice. And he looked really good too. Dark blue tuxedo, perfectly styled hair and a charming smile to match.
He opened his mouth to speak but it seemed as if every word he wanted to say was snuffed out of him as he looked at Cara.
She was breathtaking.
Every inch of her body was perfection and Nicholas shook slightly as he felt that same hunger that he always tried to suppress whenever he was with her.
"You look breathtaking."
He said and she nodded. She still couldn't wrap her head around why he was looking for her.
Nicholas closed his eyes briefly and sighed.
"Sorry, that must have come out wrong. You look really nice."
Cara smiled, unable to stop the blush creeping in her cheeks.
"Thank you. You look lovely too."
"What are you doing here?"
She asked and he shrugged.
"I was thinking we'd attend the dinner together."
He said as he stretched out an elbow, Cara was about to protest but she decided against it.
There was no harm in going with him.
"Let me get my purse."
She said as she went back to the room and picked it up and turned to Nicholas who was already in her room looking at her with lust.
Cara's breath hitched.
"I think we should get going."
She said nervously as she tried to leave the room but Nicholas gently drew her back in as he put his hands on her waist.
He missed her so much.
So so much.
Sometimes he'd wake up in the night dreaming about her, about the things he wanted to do to her. The thoughts that haunted him during the day also plagued him at night and he didn't understand it.
He decided he'd just stop trying to get her out of his mind and let her in, damn the consequences.
He looked at her lips as he drew her closer. Cara didn't complain, nor did she hesitate even though she was smugly in his arms, she could feel the heat radiating from him and she knew exactly what he wanted, what he felt.
She wanted the same too.
She thought as she licked her lips slowly.
Nicholas drew in for a kiss and Cara took in a sharp breath.
They were seconds away from consuming themselves in the kiss and barely an inch apart from each other but they quickly pulled away when they heard the sound of someone coming along the hallway.
Cara struggled with her purse as she looked away while Nicholas walked out of her room and waited at the door.
The room service lady walked past their room with a smile on her face. She waved innocently at them. he didn't even notice that she had interrupted something.
It was his cart that had been making all the ruckus.
Nicholas held out an elbow.
"Shall we?"
He asked and Cara took the elbow with a small smile on her face.
"Yes."
The welcoming dinner was at the resort's restaurant, where Mr Kurosaki had also invited twenty four more potential business partners, investors and business managers.
Many of them Cara didn't know but somehow they seemed to he familiar with her father's company and she knew theirs too. She spent a lot of time mingling with the crowd after sating a quick hello to Mr Kurosaki who had a lot of people vying for his attention, Nicholas included.
The food was also equally great.
It was a five course dinner with every meal better then the last and the ambience was wonderful.
Even though the atmosphere was refreshing and every other thing was nice, Cara really couldn't keep her eyes away from Nicholas and he couldn't either.
They had unfinished business and as much as Cara told herself that she wouldn't sleep with Nicholas again her resolve was slipping fast and she was losing every bit of common sense she had.
Things got so heated she decided to retire early, she told Mr Kurosaki and he told her to have a wonderful evening as she walked up to her room.
That was a bad idea.
She had barely been in her room for five minutes when she heard a familiar knock on the door.
She was still fully clothed, so she walked to the door and opened it.
It was Nicholas, as expected.
"You shouldn't be here."
She said weakly and he shrugged as he walked into her room.
"And yet here I am."
"We already talked about this. We can't do this. Not again."
Her voice was shaky, it was almost as if she was also trying to convince herself of the words that she was saying but it was hard to.
She sighed and looked around again, her eyes desperately trying to avoid his.
"Look at me."
Nicholas said huskily as he walked up to her.
He raised her chin up to his face and she could see his eyes glaze over with lust.
He gently pulled her towards him.
"I really can't help it... When I'm with you it's like I lose all my common sense."
He said and Cara nodded.
"That's why it's better if we try and stay away then."
"Stay away?!"
His eyes widened.
"What good has that done me? Or you?"
"Me?"
She said with surprise and he nodded.
"Yes, you."
"You feel exactly the same way I know you do."
"I don't."
Cara denied quickly and Nicholas smirked.
"Then you shouldn't have a problem resisting this."
He whispered as he drew her in for a kiss.
He kissed her like he did before, but there was more passion there, more aggressiveness and heaven help her she was hypnotized with it.
So hypnotized she didn't stop him, she wanted him just as bad as he wanted her.
Her hands spanned over his hard abdomen and moved up over his chest. He was so muscularly solid that she had to pull back and look where her hands were to see if it was real.
"Take my shirt off."
He said seeing where her attention was. He quickly shrugged off his jacket.
"I shouldn't."
she said not even convincing herself. She wanted to see him, all of him.
He released her and started undoing the buttons himself starting at the top while her eyes remained fixated on his action.
Then he stopped at the third one down.
"Your turn."
She looked up at him and he took her hands and placed them back on his chest.
"Honey, show me you want me to." Oh, she did, she really did.
She ripped the rest of the buttons away from his shirt and pulled away the shirt, not caring if she had ruined the shirt.
Nicholas smirked. That was exactly what he wanted her to do, he thought as he lifted her in his arms.
