Chapter 31 - Exposed.
"I don't want to talk about it, whatever you're thinking, I don't wanna hear it."
Cara said the moment they stepped into the car, Nicholas sighed and nodded. The ride to her place had been quiet and full of tension. Depite being protests, Nicholas had walked her into her apartment.
"Where's Cara?"
Angela asked her son has she looked up at him with concern. She could sense that something was going on. Stepahnie had snuck out of the party and Nicholas who she had seen barely a minute ago was suddenly missing. And Alexander that she had been hoping to rely on was looking distraught, without Cara at his side. She knew immediately she looked into his eyes that whatever he was going through had something to do with Cara. She just couldn't put a finger on what seemed to be the problem. They were fine! At least that was what she thought, but with what her son had been telling her and how unhappy he looked, tha marriage idea was beginning to look like a bad idea, but they were already far to in it, they couldn't cancel it, not even if they wanted to.
What would people say about them? The wedding was barely a few weeks away, they couldn't cancel such a grand event, not after all the invites she had sent to her friends and family. Not after everything they had done for her family.
No, they would simply have no choice but to resolve whatever issues it was that they were dealing with.
"She's not feeling too good, she had to leave."
"Oh dear!"
"And your brother? I saw him when he came in and now I can't find him anymore."
Alexander's face hardened just thinking about Nicholas.
"He left with her, they left barely a few minutes ago."
"I've got to go Mum. I want to make sure that she's okay."
Alex said with urgency in his voice, he looked over to where his father was and saw him in deep conversation with some of his guests and decided that it would be best that he didn't interrupt him.
"Now?"
She asked grudgingly and Alex nodded.
"Yes. Right now."
"I'll call you later."
That was the last thing he said to his mother before he left.
"Do you need anything?"
Nicholas asked gently after Cara came out of her room in shorts and a sweatpants. Her apartment was quite lovely, it didn't look too modern and it actually looked homey, he could tell some of her favorite things just by studying the personal touches and colors that she had added to the décor.
He was glad she looked much better but she was still not talking to him, maybe it was because she had interefered but he had no other option. He admitted the only reason he had known something was going on in the first place was because he had been looking for her and coincidentally he had found her in an argument with Alexander.
When he saw his brother's hand on her arm, gripping her tight and the look on her face he had lost it. it took every ounce of self control from there not to punch Alexander.
"The only thing I really need right now is for you stop hovering and just leave, you're going to make everything much worse."
"I can't just leave without knowing if youre going to be okay or not."
Cara rolled her eyes.
"Yes. You can. I'm really tired and I want to go to bed."
She rubbed at her face.
Yes, it had been a long day and she was still tired, she just really wanted to sleep for as long as she could, not that it would help her solve her problems bt at least it would provide her with an escape from reality for a few hours.
"Are we really not going to talk about what happened back there?"
Nicholas sounded surprisded, she was acting like nothing had happened, like everything was perfectly fine, but that was not normal. Nothing was normal. She was trying to convince him and herself that nothing happened.
Cara shrugged. She really didn't have the energy to argue, she knew Nicholas was just being caring and he was probably just looking out for her but she didn't want to talk to him.
"Nothing happened, we had a slight argument, I was tired and left the party. What else?"
"He hurt you."
Nicholas added slowly and Cara shook her head.
"He really didn't mean to, besides it's not a big deal. Please don't make this a big deal Nick, I've had a really long day."
Nicholas sighed, he unclenched his fist. Fine, he was going to let it go.
He stood up and walked up to her, his hand reaching out to caress her face.
She had also washed her face, she had washed off the makeup and took off her jewelry, there were bags under her big hazel eyes, she did look tired.
His fingers caressed her cheeks, he traced the curve of her high cheekbones down to her chin, slowly and seductively.
Cara's breath hitched.
No, they shouldn't be doing this.
She pulled his hand away.
"You don't want me touch you?"
He said slowly, his breath husky and heavy with emotion.
Cara raised her head slowly, her eyes met his blue orbs.
"You know what that does to me. No, I don't want you to touch me."
She chuckled lightly, bu that did little to quell the heavy sexual tension in the air or the sudden heat that was going through her body.
Nicholas made a move to hold her again and Cara pulled away. She had to be focused.
"We're a disaster Nick, this whole thing is going to come tumbling down on us."
Cara cried as she pulled away from him. She ran a hand through her hair as she turned away from him, looking for something around her living room to distract her. She was frustrated, deeply, sexually and emotionally.
He walked up to her and gently drew her back into his arms, he couldn't help himself, not even if he tried.
"I can't stay away from you, I've tried so hard to."
"I came around today because I was looking for an excuse to see you, any excuse really."
"I know you're trying hard enough too but I can see how much it's hurting you."
He added.
She turned to him slowly, trembling slightly, she shook her head lightly.
She shouldn't. She knew she couldn't give in.
"This is going to ruin us."
She said and Nicholas shrugged.
As long as he was with her, he didn't care about the consequences.
"Let it."
That was all the encouragement Cara needed.
In that moment she didn't care. She didn't care that it wasn't right, or that Alexander could walk in at any moment, or that she was kissing her fiancée's brother.
After their lips collided, Nicholas held Cara closer as he continued to kiss her with her arms around his neck. In one swift movement he carried and her took her to the bedroom.
He gently and slowly laid her on her back as he removed every piece of clothing away from her body as she laid on her back splayed like a feast before him. Cara felt a bit self-conscious but Nicholas tried to make her more comfortable as he planted soft kisses along her neck and jawline. He made sure he smothered every inch of her body in kisses.
He moved towards her thighs and kissed them, Cara impatiently raised her hips, he touched her down there slowly, making sure that she was ready.
His small fleeting slight touches sent tingles all over her body. She started tugging at his shirt and Nicholas removed it swiftly, alongside his pants and leaving only his boxer briefs and socks on.
As his finger grazed her folds again, Cara thought that she would collapse from sheer pleasure, he lowered his head and soon his head was buried deep within her thighs. Cara grabbed a fistful of his hair and moaned. His tongue, the unspeakable unimaginable things that they were doing, she couldn't explain it, they made her shiver and feel tremors and when he was done she could feel her walls slicked and drenched.
When his fingers and tongue could no longer satisfy her, Cara tugged at his boxer briefs and they came off quickly.
He eased himself into her slowly, so slowly that Cara begged for him to go faster, he leaned in and kissed her, all the way to her chin and behind her earlobe, his hand traced lines in her palm as he held it down.
Then he sped up the pace. Each stroke sent Cara moaning loudly, she dug her nails into his back, he hissed but he didn't stop.
He was like a gripping force and as he rolled her over to the side he didn't release her. He stroked her steadily as he rolled her on her stomach. Cara got on all fours as her hair curtained her face. He grabbed her ass cheeks and slammed into her with every thrust. Cara was a bottle of nerve endings with each stroke and she yelled as her body couldn't take it anymore. The thrusts got even faster and with each second they both neared their staggering release.
The two of them collapsed in the sheets out of sheer exhaustion, Cara was tired.
Tired and exhausted.
"No more."
She whispered as Nicholas held her closer to him. He locked his hands around her waist and kissed her hair.
"I can't let you go. Not right now."
Cara slowly pulled him away. She left the bed pulling the sheets around her.
"You need to leave right now."
With that said she walked straight into the bathroom, Nicholas didn't need anymore explanation after that, he sighed and pulled his clothes to himself.
It was the fourth time Alexander had paraded Cara's apartment lobby. He had never been so nervous before. He knew going to talk to her would result into another big argument and that was something he didn't want.
He wondered if she talked to Nicholas about him, about what was going on between the both of them. He'd rather she didn't.
Nicholas didn't need to know they had problems, but it was already too late for that.
He took a seat at the lobby again, maybe he should try calling her, he thought and the quickly decided against it.
She was just going to ignore his calls, but he was truly sorry, he didn't mean to hurt her.
He was still looking through his phone when the elevator door dinged. He quickly turned to look and found his brother Nicholas walking out. Nicholas wasn't looking in his direction so he didn't notice him.
What was he up to?
And why did he leave her apartment so late?
