Chapter 32 - Spa day and the some.
"Are we good? You're sure we're good?"
Alexander asked and Cara nodded as she searched for her purse.
She rolled her eyes as soon as her back was turned away from him.
"Of course we are. Why wouldn't we be?"
Alexander had come around again with his usual routine, apologise and try to ply her with gifts to make her forget what he had done. And she had accepted it quickly and told him she was over it, because she didn't want to dwell too much on it.
She was trying to get the incident as far away from her mind as she could.
And not worrying about it was the best thing she could do. Besides, she had to pack for her trip to Vegas with the girls and could barely wait.
The thought of being alone and free from all her responsibilities and problems for a few days seemed great.
Every second spent with Alexander made her even more exhausted than she was before.
"Would you give me a kiss then?"
He asked and Cara froze. They haven't really been intimate in a long time, well, ever since she had been with Nicholas. It just didn't feel right to her, but Alexander had caught on and he must have noticed that whatever was going on had little to do with the arguments they were constantly having.
She smiled nervously.
"I have to go."
Alexander moved closer to her and pulled her to him.
"Just one teeny tiny kiss. To know everything's okay."
He whispered to her and she relaxed a bit. She'd do it, just so he wouldn't be more suspicious of her.
Alexander leaned in and kissed her fully on the lips, his hands wrapped around her waist as he drew her towards him, pulling her close enough for her to feel his growing erection.
Cara flinched and pulled away quickly. She looked terrified.
Alex smiled, she didn't know it but he was studying her, studying her every move. The way she flinched when he got to close and how she twisted her fingers in her clothes when she was nervous.
Her eyes darted around the room quickly when he asked her a question too. She had not spoken to him directly in a long time, except they were having an argument. And even when she claimed to have forgiven him, everything she did and said was the complete opposite.
"What? Come back here, why are you acting so shy."
"I don't have time for all that Alex."
She said as she walked away and towards her closet. Alex followed her.
"Just a quick little one. I'm sure you can make time for that."
He said as he placed his hand next to the wall facing her, blocking her path.
"I can't. I'm not really in the mood."
Cara answered and Alex groaned.
"You've not really been in the mood for a long time, it's getting tiring."
"And how can I resist you when you're wearing that?"
He traced the outline of her breasts from her bodysuit and Cara froze.
She was prepared to push Alex away, but fortunately for her, the bell rang at that exact moment and she practically ran to get the door open.
Alexander sighed. It was obvious. She was hiding something. He looked at the bed and found her phone lying carelessly on it, he had never really thought of going through her phone, but for the first time since they had been together he felt the insane urge to. He knew her password so he opened her phone easily, weirdly, her call log seemed to have been cleared, at least the ones that should have been there a few days ago.
And her message inbox didn't look suspicious.
In face there seemed to be literally nothing incriminating on her phone, except for the fact that her flight was late noon.
She had told him it was in the morning, but her flight was scheduled for nine pm.
"It's just a delivery!"
He heard her call out from the living room and he hastily dropped her phone and walked back to the living room.
She was carrying two mini boxes to the coffee table.
"Looks like another wedding present from my cousins in Australia."
She said as she started to arrange the boxes.
Alex cleared his throat.
"Do you want me to drop you off at the airport?"
"Oh no! I'm good. The girls and I are leaving together. I just have to pick up something first."
Alex nodded.
"Okay. Well, I have to leave. I'll call you later."
"Okay. Goodbye."
Cara replied. She didn't even look up to properly tell him goodbye, considering the fact that she wouldn't be seeing him for the next few days.
That hurt. Alexander thought as he sighed, it even looked like she was happy to see him leave.
But he was going to know what she was up to.
Months ago, when they were still dating he had installed a GPS tracker in her car and even on her phone, he had just never had a reason to use it. Until now. He was going to find out where she was always going and why.
"I'm sorry if it seems like I'm not telling you a lot, but trust me, In due time you'll understand."
Cara said as they stepped into the spa and Malory rolled her eyes. Malory had planned a spa day for her and the rest of the bridesmaids. She also had reserved the whole spa for them. The whole spa!
And one more of her long time friend who was also a bridesmaid had arrived just in time for the bachelorette party. Skylar looked ecstatic just being there.
Skylar was Cara's friend. They met at a work thing about two years ago and they had hit it off then. Cara, Skylar and Malory used to chill and go out for drinks every weekend till Skylar had to move to Washington after she got a better job offer. She visited New York about once or two in a year, but not as often as she should.
She had flew down for the wedding.
"I'm actually not going to push it any further, I mean we came here just to have a good time and that's what we're going to do."
Malory said as she looked around, she was serious. She knew Cara would tell her what was up when it was time.
"I'm coming, I have to talk to someone in charge, I booked us a body massage session."
"Ooh. Sounds fancy."
Cara replied.
Together she and the rest of the girls went to change into their robes and Cara talked animatedly with Skylar. She had pretty much ignored Jean ever since she got there and it was for good reason too.
"Are you coming Cara?"
Skylar asked as they started walking out of the changing room.
Cara nodded and pointed to her phone.
"I am. I gotta call Alexander first."
She lied smoothly and all the girls except Stephanie said awwwn.
Cara swatted them away and picked up her phone, she was actually going to text Nicholas. She wanted to see him before she left for her trip, they had planned to meet earlier, but she wasn't sure where they would be meeting.
"You're looking a little bit too happy."
Jean said as she walked in. Her arms folded and a petulant pout on her lips. There was a large towel on her head and it made her look comedic.
Cara slowly put her phone away.
"What do you mean?"
She said as she tried to look natural and adjusted her white robe in the mirror.
Jean shrugged, a sly smile on her lips.
"You know what I mean."
"Whatever game you and Nicholas think you're playing. Just know I can play it better."
Cara looked around and sighed. Her hands on her head.
"Can you at least keep your voice down?"
She whispered and Jean shrugged.
"You think I care?"
"I'm just here to remind you that actions have consequences. And you might be getting yours a lot sooner than you expect."
"What's going on here? Why aren't you guys in the massage room? Your masseuse is waiting Cara."
Malory said as she walked in. She had walked back in to call Cara out.
Cara nodded slowly. Malory looked around, wondering what was going in between the two of them. Cara looked jumpy and Jean looked so smug.
She had overheard a teeny bit out of their conversation but she didn't know what it meant. And Cara had been keeping a lot from her lately so she didn't know what to say or do.
She had heard 'consequences' but she didn't have the slightest clue as to what it meant. Or why Jean would tell Cara something like that.
"Am I missing something? There's so much weird energy here."
Malory said as she got into the middle if them, glancing at the two of them. Cara put her phone in the locker and shrugged.
"I'm feeling great. I'm ready for my massage."
Her day had been going pretty normal even though she had lied about her flight time. She had only been to the spa ever since then.
In fact, Alexander was about to give up when he noticed the GPS tracker had showed her in a very unfamiliar environment. Wait, where was she even going? He asked himself as he started to follow her, he was a few blocks away from her, but as he drew closer, the realization began to dawn on his face.
She was going to Nicholas's apartment.
