Chapter 7 - Suspicious feelings.
Cara hated when Alex sprang things up on her. Like the double date he claimed he wanted to have with his brother.
"You should have told me about this much earlier. What if I had other plans?"
She had said on the phone after he had told her and he sounded dismissive about it.
"Cara really stop making such a stupid fuss about it and get dressed on time."
"Stupid fuss? Next time you pull such a stupid stunt just know that I won't be going."
She had ended the call angrily and went back to fuming for the next couple of minutes. Her mind ran through a lot of things, she didn't know how she would be able to cope with a double date with Nicholas, she really hoped that he wouldn't do or say anything that would make things very awkward.
Her mind also wondered to the girl he brought last time for his father's birthday dinner, was it going to be the same girl he was bringing or would he bring another?
Why does that matter? She asked herself as she walked into her closet o pick out an outfit, she didn't really plan like overdressing because she didn't feel like going in the first place.
But her eyes became fixated on her champagne gold dress that she hadn't worn in ages, the dress always made her feel like a pretty princess.
It wouldn't be so bad if she put it on at all. She thought as she walked towards the mirror and placed the dress in front of her body.
It still looked as amazing as ever.
A few minutes later, she was in the champagne gold eye-catching dress. She put on her nude heels and pretty much brushed her hair. She had done her makeup earlier already.
There was a slight knock on the door and she ignored it because she knew it was Alex. She wanted him to wait a little while she styled her hair.
The knocks became more persistent and she rolled her eyes as she walked towards the living room to open the door.
"I don't want to be late because of you."
He walked in with his eyes fixated on his phone and she ignored him.
"I need a few minutes."
"We don't have much time."
He murmured as he finally looked up and noticed how stunning Cara looked. He was dumbfounded for the next few minutes and blinked a couple of times. She looked so sexy in the dress that his jaw dropped for the next few seconds. He only remembered her wearing the dress once, yet he loved it any time she put it on.
"Wow! That dress..."
"Thanks."
Cara murmured.
"I forgot just how lovely it looked. Gets me every time "
Alex said as he walked over to Cara. He had missed her a lot, after their last fight, she had stopped him from touching her and he left her alone thinking she was still angry and it would take a while for her to come around.
Slowly, he put his arms around Cara's waist as he pulled her closer to him.
His eyes were still fixated on her hazel eyes and he slowly scanned her face and his eyes finally rested on her sensual lips. He leaned in closer to kiss her as he pulled her closer to him.
She flinched and turned her face away. Then she tried to push him away. This didn't go unnoticed as Alex released her and frowned.
"When will you stop doing that?"
He asked and Cara shrugged.
"Doing what?"
"Pushing me away. It's getting pretty annoying "
Cara turned to him and sighed.
"Alex, I'm not in the mood."
Alex scoffed as he ran his hands through his hair.
"Yea, you haven't been in the mood for weeks now and I'm slowly starting to think this isn't about that fight we had two weeks ago."
Fear crept into Cara's features but she smiled.
"Alex, stop over thinking everything, there's nothing going on. We're fine."
"Then why won't you let me touch you?? Anytime I touch you, you push me away!"
Alex was already raising his voice and Cara turned to him, she didn't want their conversation to turn into a full blown argument. And she knew how quickly Alex lost his temper.
"We have a dinner to go. Can you not do this right now?"
"Then when are we going to talk about it? When are you finally going to let me touch you?"
He grabbed her hand forcefully and her eyes widened in fear.
"Let go of me Alex."
She said with her voice shivering but he ignored her.
"Is it about that fight we had? I apologised, I thought we're over that already."
Cara rolled her eyes as she tried to pull her arm away from him but Alex's grip on her arm was firm.
"You're hurting me Alex! Please leave me alone!!!"
She cried out and Alex softened his grip till he finally left her alone.
"I'll be waiting downstairs in the car."
He said as he walked away and slammed the door in the process. Cara let out a breath she was holding.
That was close. She thought as she looked at the door.
The ride to the restaurant was filled with uncomfortable silence as Alex chose to sulk all through the ride while Cara focused on her phone. The tension in the air was so thick that it could be cut through with a knife, but Cara wasn't really ready to talk about what had happened earlier.
Few minutes later, they arrived at the hotel where they were to have their double date with Nicholas and whoever his date was.
