Mr. White looked at Laurel who stood in front of him steadily. It was only a few minutes before Laurel walked into the room. She removed the ring from her fingers and placed it on the table in front of him.
“I cannot continue this engagement, Mr. White.”
Aaron gave Laurel a deep look. There was a deep firmness behind her fragility. The same firmness Aaron felt years ago when the woman threw him violently from her home, knocking his conscience until it hurt. He shouldn't be reckless against Laurel, if he is reckless, she will run away.
“Just call me White.” Aaron stared at Laurel deeply. “I think we struck a deal yesterday, Laurel,” muttered Aaron calmly, refusing to look at the ring Laurel had placed in front of him and leaning back in his chair.
“Yesterday I was confused.” Laurel hugged herself, as if trying to protect herself. “I've been thinking about it all night and I think this whole thing is a mistake. I can't accept this engagement just because of an accident last night. No, I can't.”
“Why can't you”
“Why can you?” Laurel was half screaming, half frustrated by Mr. White's display of flatness. Was this problem to the man like a business problem which had to be resolved flatly and without feeling? “It's an engagement that will lead to marriage. Marriage is a sacred and serious thing, it can't be done just like that. Maybe you can do it, but I can't.”
“So you think I'm not serious in proposing this engagement and marriage.” Aaron elegantly stood up, rounded the table and leaned back. “I really mean it and I take responsibility for what I might do to you that night. This is the first time I might find a woman who refuses a man who wants to be responsible to her.”
“But we don't love each other.”
“Marriages based on passionate love are usually the ones that end the fastest.” Aaron smiled coldly. “Trust me, I'm quite experienced with my friends. They got married because of love, because they were crazy about each other, as if they couldn't be separated. However, sometime later, when that love fades, they have nothing left.” Aaron's eyes darkened even more. “The ideal marriage is one that is done on the basis of mutual understanding, agreement, mutual respect and… deep sexual attraction.”
“What?”
“I think you heard my last sentence, Laurel.” Aaron's smile turned deep and sensual. “Regarding sensual attraction, I can't argue with that.” The man opened his jacket and showed his masculinity tense under his pants. “It's always in heat whenever I'm with you.”
“You are so disgusting!” Laurel cried out in frustration, frustrated that Mr. White's attitude had stirred up something inside her, a tingling heat that flowed slowly but surely.
She took a step back and tried to get out of the room as quickly as possible. However, Aaron moved quickly, grabbed her arm and hugged her tightly. He held her tightly as if he didn't want to let her go. Laurel struggled but Aaron was stronger, the man tightened his arms, trying to dampen her movements.
When Laurel didn't stop struggling, Aaron pulled her back to him and kissed her on the lips, crushing her right away. The move was successful because Laurel's struggles weakened. Aaron's kiss succeeded in making her weak and helpless. The man then let go of her lips, but has not let go of his embrace. His breath was hot and gasping on her lips, their foreheads pressed together, and they were so close that Laurel felt trapped in Mr. White's sharp gaze.
“I'm sorry, Laurel, I'm sorry,” Aaron whispered softly trying to calm her down. “I don't wanna hurt you.”
Aaron's words made Laurel blink and feel doubtful. She looked at the man in confusion. Mr White had been so sensual and menacing earlier, kissing her without asking. Now this man has become so gentle and heartfelt. What exactly was on this guy's mind?
“I want you to listen to me first.”
The man shrugged when his tough manhood touched Laurel, causing her to immediately lift her head and stare accusingly at Aaron.
“I can't control it.” Aaron smiled. “Forgive me. I will let you go if you promise not to leave until I finish my words. I hope you can understand.”
Laurel was still staring warily at Mr. White, but then found solemnity in his eyes. Finally she gave up and nodded. The man gently let go of her and shrugged his shoulders towards the sofa.
“Sit down.”
Laurel sat down while Aaron caught up in front of her and looked at her gently.
“For all the reasons I'll lay out later, I think we're a perfect match, Laurel. I would love to have a wife like you, which you know for yourself… really arouses my lust.” The man smiled apologetically again. “And I don't think I'm too bad for your liking.” Too handsome, too perfect, too everything to be scary, Laurel thought.
“I felt responsible when I screwed you that night. Indeed, it is an act that we are not aware of. But I've never corrupted an innocent woman before, I've said that, haven't I? And I… I feel guilty for my sister if I don't take responsibility and marry you.”
“Feeling guilty for your sister?”
“Yes. Do you remember Aamber? HR Manager in this company?”
Laurel certainly remembered. She will not forget the beautiful and authoritative woman who gave her an extraordinary impression. So that woman is Mr White's sister? No wonder, they both harbor mysterious elegance under their golden skin and dark exotic hair. However, what does Aamber have to do with all of this?
“Amber had a relationship with her boyfriend as a teenager. Their relationship went too far until she became pregnant. However, her lover left her. She… she was devastated, repeatedly tried to kill herself and lost her spirit. Luckily we were able to raise her again until she became the tough woman she is now. However, since then I promised that I would not hurt any innocent woman and destroy them, like that boy did to my sister.”
Aaron leaned forward and grabbed Laurel's hand from across the table and grasped it gently. “Marry me, Laurel. I'm sure this will all end well.”
