“Laurel.” Aaron gently grabbed Laurel's finger who was walking away. “Please listen to me first.”
Laurel looked at Aaron angrily. “Why did you have to bring me into this situation, Aaron? She, the girl seemed to really hate me and seemed to want to get rid of me. She knows that we are married and on our honeymoon, but she still comes and doesn't care about me.”
“I'll kick her out, right away. Meanwhile we must restrain ourselves.” Aaron grabbed Laurel's fingers and kissed them. “I hate her presence too, Laurel, hate it more than you, but Clarissa is a cruel woman. I'm afraid that if we're not careful, she'll do something bad to you.”
Laurel sighed then took a deep breath. “Yes, Aaron, I'm sorry, maybe I'm too confused by all this.”
“I should apologize for putting you in this kind of situation.” Aaron took Laurel in his arms. “We'll deal with her together, okay?”
“Okay.” Laurel closed her eyes and pressed her cheek against Aaron's warm chest, letting him cradle her.
Meanwhile, in front of the open guest bedroom door on the second floor, Clarissa stood and looked down. The sight of the two couples embracing each other passionately was clearly visible from above, burning her heart, making her eyes blaze with hatred.
________________
Aaron sat furiously in his study. Laurel had fallen asleep in her bed and refused to make love to him. Clarissa's arrival had ruined her mood.
Of course, what woman wouldn't be in a bad mood when she had to face her husband's ex-girlfriend, shamelessly, following them on their honeymoon? However, Aaron couldn't act rashly. Clarissa is a clever girl who is cunning and a little evil when it comes to achieving her goals. She will use any means to get what she wants, even if it has to run over other people.
Earlier, Clarissa had implied a threat when saying Laurel's name made her reminisce about the good times she had. Aaron knew exactly what Clarissa meant. She implied that she was going to tell Laurel that Aaron used Clarissa a lot when they made love, by calling her Laurel.
In frustration Aaron ruffled his hair, why did Clarissa follow here? He had no idea. Their relationship is over. Aaron had ended their relationship on good terms and at that time Clarissa seemed to accept it well too. Did she still think that he would come back to her at that time and, when it turns out that he is married to Laurel, does it trigger her possessiveness?
Aaron must find a way to get Clarissa off the island; far away and will never come back again to mess up his life. However, he had to be careful with it.
_______________
“This food is delicious.”
Clarissa seemed to have dressed up for their dinner. Her silk dress was long and golden, it seemed to wrap her beautiful body perfectly and beautifully.
“Maybe I should persuade your chef to come with me.”
“Chris wouldn't want to. For him, this island is his home.”
Clarissa smiled sensually at Aaron. “Ah, you seem to have forgotten how to persuade and seduce. Aaron, maybe I should find a chance to remind you again.”
Laurel almost choked on hearing that plainly spoken seduction. For hell's sake, did she have to face that every day when Clarissa was here? She felt a strange sting every time Clarissa seduced Aaron either with her body language or with her hidden words, like a sting of anger that made her chest heat. It prompted her to hide Aaron behind her back, then face Clarissa fiercely shouting, “Aaron is my husband!”
Does she feel jealous? Laurel frowned as she rummaged through the food on her plate. Oh well, if she really was jealous, then she had more feelings for Aaron. Does she love the man?
May be. It was possible that she had fallen in love with him unconsciously in their pleasant moments together, in their passionate and tender love affair.
It was possible that Laurel already loved Aaron.
“Why don't you eat your food, honey?” Aaron whispered softly to Laurel who was sitting on his left side, observing the contents of Laurel's plate which remained intact untouched, only tossed around on the plate.
“I'm a little unwell.” Laurel wasn't lying, she suddenly felt dizzy.
Aaron immediately touched her chin, causing Laurel to look up at him, then studied her face worriedly. “Are you sick, honey? There is a doctor in the village, I will call him for you.”
“No need.” Laurel grimaced. “Maybe I just need to go to bed early.”
“I'll take you.”
Aaron was about to leave while leading Laurel when Clarissa muttered, “There's something I need to talk to you about, Aaron, it's important. After you drop your wife off, I'll be waiting for you in the library.”
Aaron didn't answer, just politely excused himself. Then led Laurel to the room, leaving Clarissa alone in the dining room.
Aaron laid her gently and covered her. “If your dizziness doesn't improve, I'll call the doctor.”
“I just need to sleep.” Laurel smiled gently at him.
Aaron sat on the edge of the bed and returned her gentle smile. He stroked the hair on her forehead affectionately.
“Clarissa could be unbearable if she wanted to. Don't let her make you sick. She would be happy if she managed to do it.” Carefully he kissed her forehead. “Go to sleep, my dear, I hope that when you wake up, your dizziness will be gone.”
“Where are you going?” Laurel exclaimed subconsciously as Aaron stood up and was about to move away from the bed. He smiled apologetically.
“I'm going to the library. I want to know what Clarissa wants to talk about, so I can know what she came here for. Maybe I can gently expel her.” Aaron's fingers touched Laurel's fingertips gently. “Do not worry. I'll fix all the problems.”
After he left, Laurel lay with her eyes wide open, feeling dizzy even more. At first she tried her best not to scream and prevent Aaron from leaving the room. Deep in her heart, she didn't want him to go and meet that beautiful woman.
What if Aaron falls for Clarissa's temptation? She was so beautiful and the library atmosphere at night was so intimate.... and considering how persistent Clarissa was, it was possible that she would succeed in seducing Aaron, right?
Laurel was dying to follow him to the library, just to make sure, or maybe overhear, but she held back.
No, she had to trust Aaron.
