Shopping Trip Fight
"Sarah, I need to get some supplies from the village before we leave."
Sarah looks up from the book she was packing into a small bag and frowns as she looks at him. "So why don't you go on and get it? Just tell the merchants that you are my husband and they'll let you get whatever you need."
Draven's eyebrow arches as he looks at her. "So I can get whatever I want without worrying about spending my money and running out?"
Sarah nods as she puts some clothes in the bag. "Of course. Just don't spend too much money and you'll be fine."
Draven nods absently before he heads out of the inn. He gathers the supplies he needed and went back to the inn, finding Sarah waiting for him outside the doors with two horses. He nods towards her and mounts his horse as she mounts her own and they ride towards the city gates. They travel through the streets, stopping every once in a while to speak to a few citizens who wanted to wish them well travels and congratulate them on their wedding. Upon reaching the gates, they pass through with no problem, the guards more interested in who was entering the city than those that were leaving.
They travelled for several miles before trouble seemed to find them. A group of six men blocked the road ahead of them. When they drew up close to the group, the leader urged his horse forward and spoke to them. "Quite a large saddlebag you both have with you. Perhaps if you were to let us … apprehend them for you your travels can go smoother."
Draven shook his head as he dismounted. "There's nothing in our saddlebags that you would find of interest. I'm afraid giving them to you would only add to your burden instead of easing our own." The glint of his sword hit the setting sun and caused the blade to flash blindingly in the leaders' eyes.
"Well, if you won't give us your saddlebags, how about them and your sword? You won't be allowed to pass unless you pay the tax for travelling down MY road."
Draven arched a brow before putting on a pair of thick gloves. He nods softly before standing in front of the men. "Like I said before, we're not giving you anything…"
Before Draven could finish his statement, a man urged his horse towards Sarah and tried to grab her arm, only to miss when Sarah's horse reared up and caused the other man's horse to shy away. Draven, seeing the threat against Sarah, launched himself towards the leader. The leader in turn lifted his foot and slammed it against Draven's face, launching the other man backwards with a bloody nose. Cursing, Draven once more launched himself at the leader while the man who had attacked Sarah tried again to loosen her from her mount.
While Draven was trying to knock the leader off his horse, Sarah in turn leaned back in her saddle as the man tried to grab her from around the waist. She looked up through her hood at him and made eye contact as she stood balanced on her saddle. None of the others in the group seemed to notice her as she stood up and clicked her tongue, the signal to the horse to step to the side and kick the man's own horse in the breast. The horse, trained in all manners of fighting, did as was directed and the man was knocked off his horse and fell to the ground with a dull THUMP. He lay there while Sarah stood on the back of her horse, the only person besides herself and the man who laid on the ground knowing she had moved at all being Draven. The leader pulled a gun on Draven, pointing it at his head with the lever primed to fire when Sarah made a noise and drew the man's eyes to her. That brief eye contact seemed to be all that was needed to enspell the man as two others converged on Draven.
Draven fought them both, refraining from drawing his sword due to the close proximity of the men to himself. He quickly knocked one out with a jab to the jaw, and broke the other's arm with a twist when the second man rushed him. He looked up and saw that the leader had pulled a gun on him, but seemed to be staring at Sarah instead. Thinking that meant that Sarah was in danger he launched himself at the leader, only to have the second-in-command kick him in the ribs, pushing him away, but not before Draven confiscated the gun. The second-in-command then took in the scene and led his leader's horse away. He ordered the following man to gather up the wounded and take them to the side of the road and then rode to stand in front of Draven.
"You fought for your and your lad's freedom very bravely. We will not be bothering you again. Please, pass in peace, keep the gun, you've earned it."
Draven, panting from his efforts, nodded once towards the man and remounted his horse. He saw that Sarah had returned to her own seat and was waiting for him with her head bowed. He tapped the sides of his horse and the animal moved forward. The rest of the trip continued, Sarah explaining the various commands that could be given to each horse that would render it a protector and weapon, though Draven paid very little attention to her explanations. Soon the sun was starting to set and the sight of a campground appeared. The camp consisting of several logs gathered around a fire pit in the middle of a clearing with woods surrounding the site on the sides that were not facing the road. Draven then took out the gun and some rope and waved at Sarah to let her know that he was going into the woods to hunt.
Draven knew that the skirmish hadn't caused them to lose too much time, barely any at all if he was honest about it, as he found two rabbits and quickly ensnared them with the rope he had used to capture small prey. Hitting their heads with the butt end of the handgun, he gathered them up and started back towards the campsite. When he arrives he sees that there are two bedding piles on opposite sides of the campfire, and Sarah was already cooking herbed roots and vegetables that she had gathered while he was away.
