Celebration!
The village people wait a moment in shock before they erupt into cheers and surround the couple with congratulations and felicitations on the marriage. Draven's father, the male figure who had embraced him earlier; Sarah had assumed that he was a brother or uncle, came up and wrapped his arms around Sarah in a bear hug that was tighter than any other she had ever received in the past. The men and children of the village laugh and pat Draven's back, the children tugging on Sarah's hand and causing her to lean down so that they can hug her while they smile broadly. When she rises from hugging one child, she can see a small group of women standing off to the side with their arms crossed over their breasts, watching and frowning disapprovingly.
Draven's father, who introduces himself as Momeji, wraps both arms around Draven and Sarah and lifts his head so that everyone can hear him. "Alright everyone, let's let the happy couple rest. They've had a long journey and I'm sure they will give everyone news on what is occurring in the outside world as well as how they found each other and the wedding that took place that joined them together."
The crowd parts and Draven takes Sarah's hand in his own and guides her to the inn, pausing at the door to scoop her into his arms and carry her over the threshold. She smiles softly at his actions, expecting him to put her down once they are inside, but finds herself mistaken as he continues to carry her up the stairs and to a room at the end of the hallway. Putting her down once inside, he kisses her once more, trailing his hands down her back, his nails scratching her through the clothing while he pulls her close. Breaking off the kiss, he lays his forehead against her own and pulls away with great reluctance. "The Women's Council will want to speak with you once you've rested, probably tomorrow morning. Or I should say the Wisdom will want to speak with you. They'll also want you to go with them to do women's stuff and they won't take too kindly to me joining you in bed until we are married according to my village laws and customs."
Sarah nods softly and frowns thoughtfully, still not believing that he truly loves her; even though she has come to love him deeply, and thinks to herself, "I bet he'll stay long enough to do his task and want to leave before being legally tied to me for life. We'll probably leave before the ceremony can take place." He continues to speak to her, she forces herself to concentrate on what he is saying and hears him say, "Well, I guess we better go to our corners and get ready for the party tonight."
She blinks and looks up at him in shock. "P-party?"
He chuckles and scratches the back of his head, nodding, "Yeah, there's always a party when someone returns, or gets married, or has a child. The people here are always willing to celebrate anything that happens that's a good thing. Me coming back AND being married is a reason for a huge celebration. So, you get ready and I'll meet you outside the door in… an hour. Alright?"
Sarah nods absently while she thinks back to the clothing that she had brought with her. Not having too much to wear, she decides on her Captain's uniform and gets dressed. After fixing everything so that she looks half-way presentable, she hears a soft knock on her door. Opening it, she sees Draven standing there dressed in a fancy outfit. He holds his hand out to her, and she takes it with a soft smile and a light blush. They descended the stairs and walked out of the inn. Torches lighted the roads towards the center of the village where a circle of torches lighted a group of people already gathered. Musicians were tuning up their instruments and as they drew closer, started playing a lively tune.
Draven tugged Sarah to the center of the circle, a bare area that had been left for them and other dancers. He spun her around his body as he then tugged her into his arms, placing his left hand at her waist and his right one holding her left hand. At the upbeat tune, he begun spinning her around in his arms, their feet dancing rapidly as they moved together to the beat of the song. Soon other couples joined them in the circle, dancing around them as they moved together in the middle of the dance floor. When the musicians started playing another song, Momeji broke away from his wife and came to Draven, tapping his son on the shoulder and smiling as Draven moved away from Sarah and went to dance with his mother.
Momeji turned out to be just as an accomplished dancer as his son. Sarah could see that Draven had learned from his father the art of dancing. She was spun around so many times by his exuberant steps that she feared she would fall over from dizziness. Her veil fluttered in the wind and she laughed brightly, delighting Momegi as he then dipped her backwards at the end of the song. She blushed brightly as Draven, who appeared sullen and thoughtful, appeared to take her in his arms once more.
He slipped her to his side, holding her close as he escorted her to a series of long tables set up on the opposite side of the dance floor. Holding her chair for her, he waited as she sat down with a slight frown on his face. He smiled and mentally assured her that there was nothing for her to worry about, bending down and kissing the top of her head. Taking a seat beside her, Draven takes her hand in his and kisses her knuckles as several townsfolk begin placing heated and cool dishes of food onto the table. He reaches out to a dish in front of them and begins placing food on her plate, changing to different dishes until her plate is filled with various foods.
