Proving the Truth

Warning bells went off in Draven's head and he shook his head, "No thank you. I think I can let you take Sarah's horse, since she'll be needing it soon, and I'll keep on going through until I have passed right through here."
The woman frowned at him as she tilted her head to the side, "Don't you want to take your wife with you?"
Draven sighs deeply as he looks around and then back at the woman. "Look, Sarah and I … we aren't married. We just said that so that we can get through the cities as quickly and with as little amount of money paid as possible."
The woman looked confused for a moment longer, before smiling serenely, "I'll just take your horses to the stables, you can explain to Kelly why you lied on Truthstone and how you were able to get around the spells. After all, Sarah may need to be told that you are leaving so she can decide whether or not she wants to follow you."
Draven sighed roughly and moved between the woman and the animals, reaching out a hand to stop her from taking his horse away from him when a rough growl sounded out. "Don't you TOUCH my WIFE!"
Turning he saw a wolf-like man striding purposefully towards him. The man's brown hair flared out from his head like a lion's mane blowing in the winds. Draven stepped back away from the female, who in turn stepped forward and took the reins of both horses and started walking away from them. As quickly as the man approached, yet another man stepped between them and held up his hands in a pacifying manner. "Now Wolfer, Alyce is her own woman, I'm sure she could have handled herself if he decided to try something. After all, Kelly says she's become quite adept at that 'eating dirt' stuff she's been teaching the new women to the city."
Draven looked around to see how the man could have come from nowhere and saw a third man standing in the shadows of a tree, looking as dark and oppressing as the night with his jet black hair and even blacker clothing. He stood in the shadows with his arms crossed and saying nothing as the one called Wolfer and the second man began talking. A buzzing sound, much like a honey-bee, soon sounded and the darkly clad young man lifted his wrist and flipped up the top of his bracelet, speaking into it in a low voice before closing it and stepping out of the shadows.
"May I suggest we take our … guest… to see our Queen? She's eager to meet the man who has snared our Sarah's heart so completely."
His voice, while quietly spoken, seemed to snap the tension between the two men, who stood staring at each other with a silent promise of vengeance before nodding and moving to stand on either side of Draven. The dark-clad man stood behind him and the one called Wolfer motioned ahead of himself. "Well, what are you waiting for? A golden invitation? Let's go."
Grudgingly Draven started walking towards the center of the city, as he approached, the town square seemed to melt away and a large wall appeared in front of him. Large doors opened up and the quartet walked through them. The dark male turned and shut the doors behind them before slipping off to the side and disappearing. The one named Wolfer than stepped behind Draven and the other male stepped in front of him. Draven noticed that the other male was a bright red-head, and there was a strange wave of heat coming off his body. They travelled through the court yard and into the castle itself. There was strange paint on the walls that made it appear as if they were walking through a large thunderstorm, though there was no sound that could be heard besides the muffled sounds of their footfalls.
At long last, they came to the throne room, a large room that was octagonal in shape, had several pieces of furniture. A dual throne sat on a dais, several benches lined up in double rows twelve deep sat in front of the throne. Two banners with a picture of a male and female, hang on either side of the throne. The female is a red-head with a smattering of freckles on her nose and cheekbones, she smirks at those who enter the room, the male scowels in contrast. His honey brown hair flows around a chiseled face that appears as if it was made from granite. Draven looks at these pictures and is not impressed by what he sees. To the right is a large table with several joined seats and a few single seats around the circumference of the oval shaped piece of furniture and he can hear the sounds of a working kitchen coming from the double doors just barely in view from his standing point.
Wolfer frowns as he looks around for the other people, mumbling under his breath he leaves Draven and the other man and walks off to the side, disappearing down a hallway. The other man turns and crosses his arms while he looks sullenly at Draven as a feminine shout could be heard overhead. The rapid sound of feet running is soon stopped as a harried looking female, the female in the banner to be exact, comes walking hurriedly into the room. She smiles warmly at him, but he can see a hint of suspicion in her eyes.
"So, you come into My city claiming to be the husband of Our Sarah, only to confess when told that you must speak with Me that you lied. On TRUTHSTONE to be exact. Is this true?"
Draven arches an eyebrow as he looks down at the petite young woman. She stands no higher than his chest, but with her hands on her hips he is reminded of the old fish wives back in his homeland. He shakes his head as he bows respectfully towards the female. "I'm guessing you are the Queen of this city then. No, I did not lie on whatever it is you say I lied on. I spoke an agreed condition that Sarah, who is a consenting adult, and I agreed upon when we left the ship in an effort to make the journey easier for the both of us. Cheaper too since we can share a room when in town."
"So you did not hold the Truthstone in your hand when you spoke to the Gatekeeper?"
Draven shook his head, "I didn't hold any stones in my hand, Sarah had it in her hand when the guards let us through."
The female sighed roughly and then motioned for Draven to follow her as she walked towards the double-throne. He followed her, seeing no other choice in the matter, and quirked an eyebrow as the female sat down and curled up like a feline on the cushion. "Well, there's no laws stating that you can't be married by common agreement, but the laws frown on children born out of legal matrimony. I'm assuming that they should be done getting her fitted for a contraceptive anklet, let's see what Sarah has to say about everything that's going on." The female lifted her right wrist and flipped open a piece of jewelry that looked exactly like the bracelet that the dark man had worn and operated earlier.
After speaking for a few moments, she settled back down into her seat. She looked at Draven and smirked softly, "I'm Kelly, Queen of Nightfall City on weekends, holidays, and whenever we have visitors."
Draven nodded and introduced himself, preoccupied with thoughts on how to get out of this city as quickly as possible, when a door opened quietly behind him. Sarah walked in, appearing more demure than he had ever seen her before, with her face completely covered with a veil. Kelly sat up and smiled brightly, "Sarah, so good to see you my dear. Tell me, were you the one holding the Truthstone when it was told that you are married?"
Sarah nodded silently in response.
