Meeting the Family
The next morning Sarah and Draven woke up together, curled in each other's arms. Draven nuzzled against Sarah's neck, inhaling her unique feminine scent. He sighs as his arms tighten around her waist, one hand trailing up her body to cup her breast. "Hm, I am so glad you decided to come back to me my love."
Sarah relaxes in his arms, placing her hand over his own as she smiles softly. "Did you mean what you said?"
He chuckles as his lips nip at her shoulder, "That I love you? Yes, I meant it. I love you Sarah, and I want you to be my wife in truth, not just during this trip, but for every trip we may have in the future."
Sarah's hand clenches against his own, her expression serious as she turns in his arms and looks into his eyes. "Do you mean it?"
Draven chuckles as he leans over her, his lips lower to trail over her own as he gazes into her eyes. "Yes. I mean it. I want you as my wife, for the rest of my life and into the next one if we are blessed enough to be reborn once more."
Sarah smiles softly once more as she leans up and presses her lips against his. They move together in the age-old dance of lovers until they reach a mutual satisfaction that is only achieved by those who love and care for each other.
They broke camp and began travelling once more together, Sarah dressing in the men's clothing she had donned at the beginning of this trip when she first departed the ship. The horses that they had left behind had found their way out of the Nightfall city and joined them, surprising them both when they came trotting up to the camp. Chuckling softly as they loaded their tents onto the horses, they mounted up and began riding towards their destination. The air began getting cold as they travelled, so cold that Sarah had to stop riding and don her thick coat that she had packed in case they had to travel over any mountains. Draven arched an eyebrow, but said nothing as a soft and eager smile crossed his lips. He urged his horse forwards as the trees began to grow thicker and closer together. The summer and springtime trees soon became bare of their leaves and a mixture of bare trees and pine trees grew together.
The breath from both horses and Sarah and Draven soon puffed in small clouds in front of their faces as the horses began trotting faster. Sarah held hers back a little, knowing from Draven's excitement that they were close to his home. They came up on to a small hill, and Draven stopped his horse and sat there looking down on the scene ahead of him. Sarah came up beside him and gasped softly at the small village that lay in the middle of a valley. Snow had recently fallen on this side of the hill, it layered the road and surrounding areas in a white blanket. She looked in wonderment at the smoke coming from the various chimneys and homes as small moving dots walked the streets that were being cleared by the inhabitants.
Draven then urged his horse into a full run, barreling down the road towards the village with a triumphant shout. His face was split into a wide grin as he raced downwards. Sarah followed at a steady pace, enjoying his joy at being home at long last. A shout came up from the village-folk and a swarm of people came out of their homes. A large crowd gathered as Draven entered the outskirts of the village and they surrounded his horse as Sarah approached, following at the back of the crowd that greeted Draven with excited and happy exclamations. She smiled softly, though a part of her knew that now that they were at their journey's end, he might change his mind and she would no longer be wanted.
An middle-aged couple exited what appeared to be the village inn and the crowd parted to admit them to the center where Draven, dismounted from his horse, stood waiting with an expectant grin on his face. The female rushed forward and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him as close as he hugged her as the male walked up and patted Draven's back a couple of times. The man then wrapped his arms around Draven and the female, laying his head on top of Draven's bent one. Sarah watched it all from her place at the back of the crowd as tears began to well up in her eyes at the joyous reunion she witnessed.
Draven broke away from the couple and looked around him, seeing her still on her horse he walked towards her, the crowd parting as he headed in her direction. She dismounts from her horse and keeps her hand on the reins as he approached.
He came towards her, sensing her discomfort at what she thought of as an intrusion on his happiness warring with her own happiness at being able to witness him joyful. He could also sense that she was unsure of herself in this situation, and how she wondered if he would change his mind now that he was home. His face adopted a serious expression as he walked towards her, getting closer and closer until he stood in front of her. He knew that those around him assumed that he was approaching a slender man, and he wanted them to know who she was and how important to him she was. He took off her hat, allowing her long blonde hair to fall from her head and down her back. The gasp of surprise from the crowd seeing her wealth of hair nearly made him smile as he then leaned down and kissed her deeply on her upturned and very surprised mouth.
The crowd goes very silent as they watch the couple kissing each other in the middle of the village. Finally, after what seems like several hours, Draven breaks the kiss and holds Sarah to his side tightly. He looks back at his parents and smirks at them. "Mom, Dad, I want you to meet Sarah. My wife."
