Do They?

Draven closed his eyes briefly before he turned around and faced the Wisdom of his village. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Rose stood in front of him, her hands on her hips as she seemed to glare at him. "Don't give me that load of shit Draven. I know you and your WIFE was in here, about to have sex right on the counter. I can smell her, and your combined arousal. Where is she?"
Draven tilted his head to the side and adopted an innocent expression. "I don't know what you mean Rose. Honestly, I haven't seen-"
Rose strode forward, moving faster than Draven could see as she reached up and grabbed his ear between her thumb and forefinger. Ignoring his yelped "Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow" she hissed into his ear. "If she doesn't come back soon to speak with me, then I will start pinching off body parts. Do you hear me Draven? Call her, make her come back."
Between the pain and the watering of his eyes, he heard her words and the underlying threat to his body. Using the mental connection once more, he called for Sarah to return. Sighing softly as he felt Rose remove her fingers from his ear. He lifted up his hand and rubbed the red organ that felt like it was throbbing worse than his earlier erection had.
Sarah, hearing him call her back, removed herself from the haystack. His words echoed in her mind, "Might as well come back, she knows you were here and wants to talk to us both." She walked, and for the first time she felt dread in speaking to someone. She knew, that while on land, any mayor, or leader, of a village was on the same level as she was in terms of power over people. But for some reason, this Rose, this village's Wisdom, made her uneasy. She reminded Sarah of her sister Adnama, but not for the obvious reasons of them both being blind, but for the fact that they both exuded confidence.
She walked back into the kitchen and took in the image of Draven rubbing a very red ear, and Rose standing in front of him with her arms crossed over her breasts. She tries to adopt an air of surprise, but before she could open her mouth Rose turned her head and seemed to glare at her. "Don't even think about it Sarah, I know you weren't here and I know you were here before I came in. So don't even think about acting as if you have just came in."
Rose then points to a place beside Draven and waits until Sarah stands beside Draven. "Now, since I am the one who will be performing the wedding ceremony, I'm also the one who can say whether or not the two of you can marry. I don't care if you were married before; here, you two are not married and here you can have that earlier marriage annulled." She turned her head and looked at Draven before continuing. "Now, I want you to tell me how you met her, when you two decided to get married since when you left six months ago you weren't married, though you WERE promised to another."
Sarah felt her stomach drop at the news that Draven had been sworn to marry someone else. She wondered if having a taste of the open sea had somehow made Draven forget his intended. She barely listened as he retold the story of how they had met, though she did catch the slight scoffing that Rose had done under her breath when it came out that Sarah was the captain of the infamous Black Calypso. When it came to the wedding ceremony, Draven seemed to gloss over it, which in turn caused Rose to frown in suspicion. Finally he ended his tale and, since she knew he would be thirsty and had placed the glass of juice there for him, drank deeply the juice she had set out for him. Draven had left out Sarah's true nature, preferring to allow her to reveal or hide her other half as she saw fit.
Rose then turned to Sarah and arched an eyebrow. "And you missy. Since I know how you two met, why don't you tell me why you decided to … disembark your ship, leave it in the care of another while you came out to land with this idiot here?"
Sarah blushed lightly as she then remembered that this was no different than if one of her men had wanted to bring an unknown female on board and claimed she was his wife. She remembered how one had done that, and with close questioning she had discovered that the female had been kidnapped and told that she was to serve the man and his friends sexually while on board, not speaking a word to anyone or else she would be killed. Her blush faded upon that memory, as well as the results of her investigating, as she looked at Rose in the face and spoke clearly.
"I am the Captain of the Black Calypso. Where my men go, when their contracts are not completed, it is my duty as their Captain to ensure that they are well protected. None of the other men could be spared for this task, and since I have two sisters who are more than capable of handling the ship in my absence, I knew that the only person to ensure that Draven returned to his village safe and sound was me. I take my responsibilities very seriously and the safety of my men is my main responsibility."
Rose continued to look at Sarah before frowning. "If your main concern was for his safety, then why did you agree to marry him and be with him as a wife would?"
"I agreed to the marriage because we needed to travel without suspicion as well as without notice. A single man and woman travelling together who are not related would have been something that is noticed. The intimate part of the arrangement was due to the fact that we had to give a convincing picture of a happily married couple." Sarah could feel Draven's shock and unease at her statement, as well as the disbelieving look Rose was giving her.
"And now? Has the situation not changed or do you want to be with him according to our village laws and customs?"
Sarah, uneasy to reveal her emotional tie to Draven, frowned as her eyes narrowed in slight confusion. Seeing no other way to get this over with, as well as feel the shock as Draven picked up on her inner thoughts and emotions, Sarah shook her head and spoke once more. "The situation has changed. I have come to love Draven and my greatest wish is for him and I to stay together for the rest of eternity."
"Do you believe he loves you in return?"
